Dr. Nelson was the best. He was principal my senior year of high school but worked in my middle school when I was there too. Everyone I knew had a deep respect for this man. He's sorely missed.
I had a childhood friend's son die last year in Philadelphia rescuing a girl from a robbery. He saw it going on, walked in, confronted the guy so the girl behind the counter could escape, and my friend's son got shot in the chest. Suckiest thing on Earth to have to give one's life because somebody needed some drug money.
Giving a second chance in life is something I truly respect. I would have done the same 99% of the time if I had a chance. To set your own safety second for the safety of others, even if you might die in it, shows that people can do heroic things and not being selfish. No-one innocent deserves to die. No-one. Kiera the girl who saved the infants is a true hero. To have the frame of mind to sacrifice your own life at that age, if she had lived she would have grown up to do extraordinary things. My daughter will be born in 4 weeks and I hope she will be as selfless and caring as Kiera. RIP sweet angel 🙏

It still makes me sad thinking about it and how he got away from a war zone but ended up dying in a place he thought was safe. When it's your time, it's your time and by his words, it's like he accepted that was his fate.
