- These people gave their lives to save others. In 2017, Brennan Stewart died while shielding his girlfriend Gia from bullets during the October 1 shooting in Las Vegas. In 2018, Martin Martinez died after pushing three girls out of the way of a car and saving their lives. In 2019, a New Jersey high school mourned the loss of its principal, Dr. Nelson, who died trying to save a stranger’s life. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.
God bless these people for their ultimate sacrifices, including the 10yo girl. So sad they're gone but their bravery will never be forgotten.

I know Kiera's mother, personally. She mourns her every day and is proud of her selflessness. Her brother told me a few years ago, when I first met them, "she died but my sister is a real hero". He then told me what had happened. I was floored to hear this little boy tell his sister's story with pride in his eyes and sadness in his voice.

@@Pack_Watch not if their family watches this and reads her comment and others! When my friend unexpectedly died in a pile up, local news ran the story the next day and online of course. Her family was comforted by strangers expressing their condolence in the comments.
Dr. Nelson was the best. He was principal my senior year of high school but worked in my middle school when I was there too. Everyone I knew had a deep respect for this man. He's sorely missed.

I had a childhood friend's son die last year in Philadelphia rescuing a girl from a robbery. He saw it going on, walked in, confronted the guy so the girl behind the counter could escape, and my friend's son got shot in the chest. Suckiest thing on Earth to have to give one's life because somebody needed some drug money.

Kiera the girl who saved the infants is a true hero. To have the frame of mind to sacrifice your own life at that age, if she had lived she would have grown up to do extraordinary things. My daughter will be born in 4 weeks and I hope she will be as selfless and caring as Kiera. RIP sweet angel 🙏

Giving a second chance in life is something I truly respect. I would have done the same 99% of the time if I had a chance. To set your own safety second for the safety of others, even if you might die in it, shows that people can do heroic things and not being selfish. No-one innocent deserves to die. No-one. There was a story years ago in my city about a man who immigrated from Syria. A few months after he came here, he pushed a boy out of the way of a speeding truck and was hit himself. Before he lost consciousness and passed away, he said it was his honor to save that boy and had no regrets. It still makes me sad thinking about it and how he got away from a war zone but ended up dying in a place he thought was safe. When it's your time, it's your time and by his words, it's like he accepted that was his fate.
Those that spoke about them, makes me feel as if I knew them too! Quick thinking, selfless acts of human kindness is rare, and shows the rest of us, how we should live!
I just watched another video about a hero, a groom on his wedding day that saved a little boy from drowning who was pushed into the river by his friend, and someone commented, "one thing that all heroes share in common; their bodies moved before they had a chance to think."

I remember Kiera Larsen's story. She was just a year younger than I was. It really hit close to home for me.
I went to Saint Peter’s High School and Delaware State University with Dr. Derek Nelson. He was 3 years older than me and we hit it off the first day we met at Saint Peter’s High because we share the same first name. He never changed. He was a GREAT man. I don’t live in NJ anymore. Damn I forgot he passed. Rest easy bro!

It's crazy how many people have sacrificed their lives to save their loved ones from mass shooting events- it's a real high cost to pay for the freedom to buy and carry guns. Honestly, as a non-American guy who has never stepped in America, I just want to say that America is one crazy nation!
Yeah, letting everyone have a gun is such a horrible thing. But there's no way to change it now... There's just too many guns in the country. America will always have the most senseless violence. A 13 year old can walk into a gun show and legally purchase one.

My brother had a childhood friend named Travis St Martin and a few years ago he died jumping in the water to save 2 women and he didn’t make it back up alive… they did though so it wasn’t for nothing ✊🏽💪🏽 RIP

Truly believing pulled me out of life crushing depression. Up from my 1.0 gpa up to a 3.65
I don’t care what the biased and corrupt “scientists” say. God took a broken and sin ridden person and turned me into His daughter. A person who can still go on. Taking anti depressants didn’t save me. Getting counseling didn’t solve the real issue. That void won’t even go away without God.
You can have the “wisdom of the world” but it’s nothing compared to Godly wisdom.
