Since I'm an old guy I'll throw in Doug Moench's name. I like the work he & Denny O'Neil did in the 80's. Bats has had a lot of good writers over the decades.
Haven’t read Tynion but Snyder’s I found leagues better than King. I have a friend whose fav villain is Bane and he also really didn’t enjoy Kings use of him, but I also really don’t like King’s dialogue
@@TheComicBookReport Eh I didn’t care for his use of Flashpoint batman either, however! The Talia and Booster Gold mini arcs were some of my fav parts of the run there is definitely some great moments just overall I didn’t vibe with it as much
Perfect timing on the video. I just ordered the Scott Snyder vol 2 omni plus the Tynion run in a hard cover lot off ebay. Now I just need them to reprint the deluxe hard covers 3-5 for the tom king run or put out an omni so I can complete his run.
I love Snyders run, it was also the first Batman run I read and it gave us one of the best Batman artists (Capullo) but after reading a lot more of Batman, my favorite is Morrisons run.
Tom King writes incredible stories but I hated all the Bat/Cat stuff in his run. Snyder's run is really consistent and just nails Batman in lots of ways to me.
It was a great video about batman writers comic run , i watched 3 times. Ps : i hace a question , you will do the same thing to superman comic modern run or others comics in future?
I wanted to see how this video did / how people enjoyed it-so far the reception feels positive. I think this video concept will be one I return to with different characters in the future :)
I really enjoyed this video a lot! Enjoyed your breakdown of each run. A little constructive criticism- maybe a little less summary of the individual runs and more comparing what one does better/worse than the others it’s put up against. Maybe rank writing, art, characters, stories, etc. Totally just a suggestion though, if you did more just like this, id still be watching
Appreciate the feedback! Thanks so much :) Newer video concept to the channel so still trying to get a feel for how I want to set these up, thanks again for the input/feedback 💪🦇
I have all of Snyders Batman run and Tynions IV’s Detective run. I will try to read his main Batman series one day (I know what goes on, I just haven’t read it yet), and maybe I’ll officially read Tom Kings run.
Yeah everyone has their own taste, but I definitely enjoyed all of these runs-they all brought something distinctive to the table 🦇 Whenever you get to those other runs, I hope you enjoy! 📚📚📚
I gotta say this is a really great video and idea, Dom: brief compare/contrast analysis. I love Snyder and King's runs. I'm one of those people that loves King's tendency to prefer broken more vulnerable heroes. Tynion's was more meh to me (not bad by any means). But I LOVE his DetComics bat family run. We mostly agree for once! (Though I love disagreeing too).
Hahah well said my friend! Yeah I share a lot of your opinions here 🦇🦇🦇 I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the video! If this gets good feedback I’ll definitely try to do more of this kind of video in the future
Such an awesome video idea. Honestly I love all the runs. I don't own all of Tom Kings, mostly due to waiting for a new edition. But Snyder is the best. In my opinion. I cherish that whole run so much. I have it all in trades and I know I need to upgrade because of how much I love it. Tynion's run is soo much fun. Like you said some characters stole the show even from batman. Like Clown Killer is one of my favorites. His whole story is sooo good. I agree joker war was fun but a bit of a letdown but great still. The current run is pure gold too. With the added KNIGHT book which is phenomenal its definitely up there. I agreed with so much of your opinion and my Snyder experience was the exact same way. Definitely do more videos like this!!😁👊
I really liked but didn’t love. Still absolutely worth reading and I think a magnificent conclusion to his run, but there were portions of his run I preferred
Good video. I'd be interested to see you do this for other characters or series (Spider-Man, DD) Also, can we all just give praise to the artists on these runs? Every time you turned the page, there was some awesome art. I feel like artists don't get enough recognition for selling us on stories we might otherwise think are total nonense. Of these three, I liked Tynion's the most of what I've read (which was just the Detective run and Batman 85-100 which I thought was a fun romp through the rogues gallery, like Hush but not as stupid), I don't get the hype for Snyder (read through Zero Year, All Star and Last Knight on Earth) and King's run I thought was terrible (read the first Deluxe, War of Jokes and Riddles and City of Bane) I'm going to go with Morrison's for modern writers.
I have added snyder's omnis to my read list as I picked up the compact court of owls and am enjoying it so far. It is strange to me though that his run on batman has such a divided opinion among batman fans. Either you love it or you hate it with no in-between it seems.
I agree a lot of polarized feelings on Snyder’s run-I see it a bit with Tom King’s run too. I also see a lot of people with Snyder’s loving the first half and not liking the back half. I enjoyed it all myself but it is interesting to see the feedback from people 🦇🦇🦇 What do you think of that compact edition?

Scott Snyder's run has to be my favorite of the three. King's run is meandering and should have been a lot less than what it was. Months would go by where the plot didnt advance and the subtext was shallow and juvenile. I thought Tynions would be a break but it just seemed to be a boost for the speculator's market with a new character each month.
