All the regulators in this guide have undergone testing by members of the DIVEIN staff. My process follows the same guidelines for all regulators.
We dived all the regulators, first in the pool - just as we would any new regulator - then in the quarry, and finally in the open ocean.
We judged all the regulators based on ease of breathing, performance, cost, features, and even comfort.

This lake in the video is where I did my first Open Water dives, 30 years ago!! I need to get back to Raleigh and dive here again, even if only for nostalgia purposes. Great video! I'm in the market for a new reg package for tech diving so this really is a great video. Thanks and thanks for the memories!

I am not saying Sherwood regulators are bad. They are a great bang for the buck I have been diving since 1976, and worked in dive shops for years. We use to see a lot of Sherwood second stage cases broken in the 80's. If you didn't have your regulator serviced for that long you are lucky, must not dive very often and take good care of it. Another subject, I grew up in Michigan and started diving there. And lived in Florida for 16 years.

My Shop used Aqualung and US Divers in Class. I bought a set of Genesis Prana Reg and Octo, Sherwood 3 gauge Console for my First Set.

Thank you for the video! Nice production quality, but if I'm welcome to give suggestions, I'd say invest in a proper microphone, as the sound quality is rather bad - makes the video feel cheaper, which is a shame because the video is very well put together. :)

great review. I'm considering Oceanic Delta 5, but I'm also thinking about Zeo, which will be a good choice?

On the Cressi xs Compact AC2 din Regulator set, what part can't go below roughly 20m, the 1st stage or 2nd stage regs or both thanks and safe diving 👌

Thank you for the video. You did not even go to Deep 6, which is great. But regardless Apeks XTX-50 will be the best, many tec and cave divers use it.

Hmmmm my 1988 Sherwood Magnum Blizzard has only been rebuilt once in its liftime. Originally from Michigan , dove a lot bsck then move to this sand pit 32 years ago snd dove both sides of this state gulf and Atlantic never once had a problem with first or second stage ! Not one !
Got it rebuilt ( i was tslked into it ) got old parts back snd nothing was wrong eith any of them. I did like the ides of yhe new silicone o rings etc though.
Had a horse misshap snd took out T 2 vertebrae injured tailbone ehich now burns 24/7 for 7.5 yesrs4 now.
So i haven't been able to dive since but wsnting to get wet this year.
One of the reasons i bought this manufacturers product was do if anyone asked if i wanted to ho diving i would say ------- SHERWOOD !
😅 TRUE Story 😊 lets all ho get wet this year. 👍🏻

Did you decide to pick one of each brand?
I don't think there's a better cold water regulator than the Apeks MTX-R.
Even if you really wanted to go with ScubaPro, the Mk25 is an environmentally sealed piston 1st stage, making it pretty much bulletproof.

    • @marksallows113
      @marksallows113 10 месяцев назад +2

Correction: The MK25EVO is NOT environmentally sealed. I own three original MK17 a MK19EVO (all environmentally sealed balanced diaphragm), and a MK25 EVO / A700 black carbon tech. Balance piston and while the addition of XTIS (EVO) improved cold water performance, you still have to be careful to flush the barrel ports, as sand or sediment can get trapped inside. It’s a spectacular easy breather but I only use the MK17/19s for cold water (I ice diver certified on MK17).😮

6:27 okay question. What is the highest nitrox percentage for this. Because the dive shop near me That I got it from. He said it was workable for nitrox mixtures up to 80%.

In my personal experience, the A700/MK25 combination breathes like no other. Despite owning an Aqualung Legend with an Elite second stage, I've decided to dismiss it due to the superior performance of the A700/MK25 setup. I dive only warm water, 25/30 celsius

Heard the scubapro G-250 with the upgrade S and ss volcano plus new matching spring even though 20 years old! , is considered the best regulator ever built. Comes with the MK20 first stage and it swivels.
Not my words but several others.
Bought a S Pro full face mask and after doing some homework found the G- 250 would work with this mask so i found one on line. Found all the parts for upgrades and did upgrade myself. Bought an adjusting tool with gauge snd adjusted it to "crack" @ 8.5 #'s.
I was amazed thst no matter how hard I sucked the air in it never felt it was going to have less air available.
Larger chamber then these new regs is part of its better performance according to the guy that has 6 of these in his stable all upgraded.
Oh there is a plastic sleeve that goes over the spring that is longer then original that i bought as part of upgrade.
Some say use original as you get more adjustment on spring pressure.
I did not need to do it.

"Simple enough" for a novice diver to use...? OK, what regulator is too complex for a Novice diver? The most complex 2nd stages i know of might be the old Scubapro Pilot and perhaps the Jetstrams from Poseidon but not very. They are very easy for a Novice diver to use however.

My first scuba regulator was the Conshelf 14, thousands of dives and its still going strong. Purely for peace of mind, I'll be retiring it this year (still keeping it though) but looking at the Aqualung Elite 😊 keep with tradition
