The colour it comes out as on stainless depends on speed and power and you would do a test grid with the stainless you’re going to use to get the colour chart, but when you use coated stainless you would have to do the grid on the coated sample, it will never get shiny though matt silver is about the closest you’ll get, the black looks good, you could always try washing it with mineral spirits that might pull the black off
Thank you Matt. I planned on doing tumblers this weekend and I watched a lot of videos. I am somewhat intimidated by my XTool D1 Pro. I have done some flat cuts and engraving, but i
I have been scared to fail with tumblers, however, your video made me feel a little better about trying to do this. Therefore, thank you for your
help, you are very much appreciated.
Yeah, at first glance I thought it would be more complicated! Glad my video have you some confidence. Good luck!
La awesome work great to clean the cups with magic erasers.
Excellent video. Well shot.
Thank you
Man I thought I was not doing it right too but then Magic Eraser was the trick to just wipe that off to see the nice etched tumbler ! Will change your life I was amazed !
I'll have to try that next time
A little rubbing alcohol goes a long way!
I like the black on OD. Mine is only a 10w so I don't know if I can achieve that without something to help. I have done flasks and they were stainless against the flask color. So, yes, probably a lower power setting will give you what you want.
Well done! Interesting situation I encountered with my 1st Tumbler last night. I had it set up exactly like you have yours. However, my test tumbler came out as a mirror image. Not sure if using lightburn might require you to mirror then image or turn the Rotary in the other direction.
Great video, thanks. You don't learn if you don't try. I have tons of tumblers and a great laser but haven't started just yet so you are way ahead of me. Nice job. Just a question, how long did it take to finish your design?
Matt, try cleaning the tumbler using a magic eraser and LA's Totally Awesome degreaser. Also do tests to try and achieve more speed.
Thanks for the tip. I'm definitely going to do tests next time too
I have the xtool d1. I cannot use the tumbler for materials. The closest thing i have is the steel dog tag. Can i use that as my material?
You can speed you laser up to 80 with a 20w. Power settings are to Low. Use the laser to square the rotary with the laser
Hey brother thank you so much for the tutorial vid, I found it super helpful.
I wanted to ask what you are using for your fume extractor set up?
Thanks
Here's my setup right here ruclips.net/video/MWpIcY604Rw/видео.html
@@mattreviewsit Nice set up 🤙. I was wondering about the attachment you have on your laser, the black tube thing? Sorry I wasn’t clear, but now I also have an ideas for the wall fan too 😉.
That looked like 160 lines per CM, which would be 406.4 LPI. Also, the D1 Pro won't etch metal unless you use the diode module with the different wavelength.
Where you in the 115th? I was in the 43rd MP BDE which has the same patch. It’s what caught my eye on your video.
Not me, but my brother is. It was a gift for him.
Hi Matt, have you done any more tumblers recently? Curious if you ever found a solution or better settings for getting the nice stainless color and not the black color.
I haven't done any more unfortunately.
He said in one of the comments to use a magic eraser pad to clean off the black soot.
I’ve done several yeti on my 10 w láser xtool I’ve been using 100 power and 30 speed with the air assist full power I immediately clean it with magic eraser and blu spray
I’ve had issues with black on the tumblers so I just engrave it again with lower power and higher speed to clean the residue
can I use the program on my mac laptop?
Yes you can, also ipad
