  • In this video, I go through all the setup and steps to engrave a tumbler, explain the settings, and engrave a YETI water bottle. I engraved this Water Bottle extra dark on purpose to give good contrast.

Cool video. Thanks for sharing. The fumes from the burned powder coat are really dangerous FWIW.

I have a XTOOL D1 10 WATT LASER. It will mark Stainless Steel very good with CRC Dry Graphite Lube for $12.0 a can.
I spray 3 light coats, let dry between coats. ONE PASS, Laser power at 100 % and speed at 300 mm/minute. WORKS GREAT !! CHEAP TOO.

Thanks for sharing your experiences I thinking of buying an Xtool D1 Pro 10 watt I have looked at the 20 watt but I think the 10 watt will do what I want

Excellent job on the video and demo of the XTool - Audio is a little blown out, did you increase the gain in post during editing? Love the stand setup you have for it!

Thanks for the feedback. I did level the audio when editing, and it sounded good before rendering, not sure what happened there. I am about to do a video of the setup this week.

And to think my yeti just has a crappy Cricut stencil I printed out at my sister's house. The shame.

Do u ever have issues cleaning off the residue when u want a shiny logo ? I’ve been using 100 power and 30 speed not sure why it’s easy to remove residue on some yeti’s and sometimes it’s a struggle to remove it when I’m using the same settings as always . Any tips

I have a "base" setting that I use for most tumblers and then I adjust from there for certain colors. I find that it has a lot to do with the color and thickness of paint from different manufacturers. I just take notes on colors that I have to adjust settings on.

I have the ra2 setup with a d1 pro 10w and can’t for the life of me keep from getting lines. Any ideas?

The reason that you probably get lines is because you should be increasing your line count by about 30-40% when compared to the regular rotary. With the gear ratio difference on the RA2, it causes the design to get stretched on the tumbler/glass, so when this stretch is compensated on the design, this causes the lines to be spread apart when lasering. Basically, the gear reduction on the RA2 will cause a decrease in your line count, so you have to increase the line count to compensate. I will make a video for this. Thanks

      This was done with a D1 (non-pro) 10W machine.
      100% power
      65 mm/s
      160 lpcm

How much do you charge for a job like that?

Usually with a single sided engrave on tumblers, $10-12. That is engrave only.
