- As far from civilization I have ever been and DISASTER! A tree almost takes off Dad's arm and pierces almost right through it. Prospecting can be dangerous. But can also be VERY rewarding. Check out these finds as Dad bleads through his field bandages.

I can’t even begin to say how much it warms my heart to see such real family fun going on in these videos. I have a strong suspicion that the Hurd family is in fact, the real deal!
Love seeing that BC Interior landscape...
Summertime is so purty....
Our earth is so full of beauty, both above ground, and below. These are stunning!
It’s cool how he makes videos about gold and gems but makes it 10 times more cool
Renamed "Dad Hurt Prospecting"
Hello friends, greetings from me
😅
🤣😂😅😆😷🤕👍LOL💪
Hahah good one😂
👏👏👏👏
S and a whole surprise egg!
Someone has been poaching your thunder eggs… at least you got a wheel barrow in compensation… Dang claim-jumper’s.
Glad your dad’s arm wasn’t too bad. I admire his toughness! @13:50 FUMBLE!
Absolutely beautiful scenery!
Your dad is a heck of a guy, hope he's healing well!
We took our kids to Canada, and as beautiful as it is, we froze in the middle of July!
Hope your dad is okay! He’s such a gem. ❤️
Hello friends, greetings from me
That’s an impressive 385,000 carats
The thumbnail scared me, but your dad smiling saved me. Lol time to keep watching
Hello there👋👋,how are you doing today?hope you’re having a good day?God bless you!!❤️
You have a amazing wife Dan. Always helping with the heavy stuff when needed.
I think having a family that enjoys doing hobbies together is wonderful!
I never could get my family interested in doing the hobbies I like doing, gold panning, and rock mining, among other things.
What about they hobbies they like doing?
At 21:54 there appears to be a 1958 Anteater with tail fins. I hope dad heals quickly with no ill effects. Awesome family Dan. God Bless you all!
Hello friends, greetings from me
Some of your most beautiful finds today. Lovely to see three generations all working together, hope your dad's arm heals soon!
Fantastic video as always Dan. Those thunder eggs are just incredible. I hope your dad is doing well and thank you so much for taking us on another exciting and very cool adventure. Take care and be well.
How in the world do you find such a fruitful site so remotely located? Research of the geology to a fine point? This is the most fascinating aspect of this video. Thanks for such a great family adventure.
Oregon
I honestly can't get enough of the Family adventures. The best memories in life are created with good times in the outdoors with family. I wish my dad would have had a RUclips channel so I could go back and watch the glorious Days growing up in Utah and all the good times we had. He wasn't into Rock hounding but we did find some arrowheads and Indian pottery one day. Thanks Dan for bringing us along and all of the awesome work you do with editing and filming. 👍🇨🇦
P.S. After watching the entire show, I just want to say thank you so much for being open to the possibility of allowing rockhounders to continue going there. I understand it's dangerous and they can make a mess. But the amount of material there and possibly generations of families that have been there in the past to be able to continue to go is priceless. You are a true gentleman Dan, thank you. 🤠🇺🇲
Amazing to what lengths you and family go through to in order to bring us thunder eggs! When I see these stones on for sale I have more respect for what goes into bringing them into my local rock shop.
"We're good, I can lift a beer...er.. Water bottle..." Someone's having a little too much fun prospecting!
Your dad has a high constitution score because he seemed to shrug off a gash that needed 10 freaking stitches. That's just badass! I think we found our barbarian or fighter for the next dungeons and dragons campaign! 🤣
Yeah, I thought it was just a bad poke in the arm from a stick, not a 10 stitch gash.
cpl things,
1: as a business, mine owner, There is a REQUIRED First Aid station with a pretty well stocked 1st aid box: IT THE LAW, not sure if certification required of at least one employee on site.
2: my bet, Dan as former teacher at least certified in CPR, if not also 1st responder 1st aid..as a Construction foreman, superintendent, I was certified in both...
3: if life threatening, they have life flight helicopter EMT services
so many quality stones you find there.
That site is loaded! I think that perlite 'puffs' when you hit it with a torch, as the water flashes. I have always wanted to try it.
Glad to see your dad is ok. I would like to hear what the Magistrate had to say about the rock hounders
Glad dad didn’t get to bang up. Looks like a lot of fun! Thanks for another great show!
I'm glad to see you're okay enough to post.... hope you're well again soon!
Very scenic very beautiful very fresh airness...looks like fun...I bet bird watching or just animal watching must be nice out there.
I love my Thundereggs. Dug out a bucket at the Polka Dot mine north of Bend in July.
Is that Bend Oregon? I was born and raised in Sweet Home.
Wow!!! Gorgeous finds! Watching the effort in this video has triggered a need for a nap.
What an Awesome family. Dan your truly have been blessed! Now just find some Gems. Hope your Dad had a speedy recovery.
Definitely enjoyed this video. Those thunder eggs are beautiful. It's also interesting how they form. Thanks for sharing Dan. And I hope you're dad is ok.
Hi Dan Good to see your Pops is going to be ok. Good to see Family adventures in the great outdoors ,cool gems you all discovered 🥳 🌝
Prayers for him. Hope He gets better fast! Love the show!
Amazing shapes inside!
great to see Dad Hurd and Sister Hurd! Glad your dad ended up alright as well, getting hurt in the bush can easily be more severe than expected. Those thunder eggs are beautiful!
I call that "Paying the Price" for your thunder eggs!! Gracious!! Those BUCKETS!!
A couple of those cut ones looked like MAPS!! I could see the continents!!
Hello friends, greetings from me
This dude has the best openings for his vids. I always watch him do the hello thing it is funny honest and to the point. Thanks Dan!
What fun to dig dirt! Hope dad recovers soon. Thanks 😊
Wow, what an epic journey and labor of love ! You are all gems, but your dad shines bright, is very tough , and yet, going with the flow and working through the pain with a smile ! Awesome thunder-eggs !!!
You've got a great family! I wish I could move to BC again to retire. My dad was an instructor at Simon Fraser U back in the 70's so I lived up there for more than a year during his sabbatical. I absolutely hated the school I went to in Port Moody, but fell in love with the region. The Fraser river was one of my favorite things to follow on our numerous trips. The geology up there is amazing! Love your vids and I'm now subscribed.... I should also add it's nice to see your better half supportive and engaged with the fun out in the field!
Hello there👋👋,how are you doing today?hope you’re having a good day?God bless you!!!❤️
My dad was a plasterer and knew all about perlite.
Those are amazing finds Dan! I would be having a heyday there. I have a set of thunder eggs similar to those that I bought at an auction years ago, so I know how beautiful they are. Hope your father is doing well. Beautiful landscape as well.
We had geodes back home in Texas. Small crystals inside. Glue in tiny pewter creatures in there. People bought them.
Nice! Hope dad is OK. Thanks for another great adventure Dan.
Beautiful thunder eggs. You are so lucky to have access to them .
Excellent finds. Thank you for letting us see the hard work. Be well especially your dad. UK.
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us! I hope your dad feels better.
Hope all is well and that a good day is in store for ya!
Beautiful Thunder eggs, love the one with the galaxy of stars in it 🤷♀️🤷♀️ Dan please stop hurting your dad we don’t bounce back very easily lol. Nice to meet your sister too. God bless, take care and thank you for sharing your beautiful scenery 🙏👍😍❤️
Hello there👋👋,how are you doing today?hope you’re having a good day?God bless you!!!❤️
21:46
I love that one, looks like some kind of world map.
Dan I love the way you have turned mining and rockhounding into a family activity lol. It’s so cool 😎! I have recently started to poke around my neighborhood for anything cool! After I get a claim in Oregon where I live my daughter and grandchildren will have a neat hobby to share
Grab some pans today and look for some open public gold panning locations near you! No need to buy a claim just yet!
Glad that Evan is learning to learn the family occupation and still having some fun also.
If you ever get a chance to visit Oregon,, then you might enjoy picking up a few thundereggs from some of the beds near Prineville, Oregon,, :-)
Such a beautiful location, wow!
The thunder eggs sometimes look like scenic pictures. Such great fun.. hope your dad's arm heals quickly with no side effects.
WOW! These that seem to be such good scenes are SPEC-TAC-ULAR!!! Really gorgeous guys! Great show Dan, as usual.
Ten stitches, huh? Get better soon Papa! Your family is awesome!! Apples 🍎 not falling far from your trees. Stay cool 😎 forever ❤
That was amazing. The colors and patterns are outstanding. Very cool😎😎
Just want to say I love your videos and what you and your family do, you've reignited my old passion for Rockhounding and even inspired me to seek out claiming my own mine.
Thank you for doing what you do and reminding me of some of the really awesome parts of life that I had forgotten about.
Just amazingly gorgeous country. I'm in West Virginia and it's pretty here too, but thanks to you and your channel I get to see these amazing places. Ty so much.
Poor Dad! He's such a trooper. Wow love the ocean scene thunder eggs
I hope you heal well and are alright!
I ♥️ that you show the flowers.
Make sure you take the wheel barrel that somebody was claim jumping with
So obviously one would not choose an electric only vehicle? That was a successful trip with many great samples. I trust your dad's arm will heal well with no complications. Nice to have the family along for this adventure, and they serve well as they can carry out more rocks. Great video coverage too.
Really liked that one at 21:48. Almost looks like a map!
Thanks for the trip Dan , that place was awesome. Hope your dads arm is doing fine. Thanks for the video.
Another great video, sorry to see the injury happening so early, glad it was taken care of safely though. Certainly highlights the necessity of keeping a first aid kit on hand when adventuring.
Something to maybe consider for future trips is a roll of "Engineer" tape (also known as textile tape). We used to tie them to the buckets so we could put the majority of the weight across our shoulders and back of the neck instead of just hanging down each arm.
Anyway, thanks for the video, see you in the next one.
Pops prayers ur arm heals quickly!!!! Great footage .. love all of them!!!! Fantastic view of terrain... I love it!!!! ♥️🙏🙏🙏
Happy to see that the family's first aid skills are up-to-date. Prayers for a quick recovery for Papa. Thanks for following up with an explanation of how rockhounds have been working the site before you. Can you now post that this is your site and exclude others from it or is it just too remote to worry about?
Dan, my wife got a piece of ocean jasper from your store for our 2nd anniversary. We both love it! The piece we received actually reminds us of a beach we had gone to when we were dating.
That is awesome!
i had a thunder egg as a kid. loved that rock. it i think is the reason i love rocks so much! mine must have been a richardson ranch as the host rock was chocolate brown
Dan, I had to take my night gloves off (must keep hands soft😉) to tell you how much I loved this trip, your family and your faraway claim. You are in a magnificent place with an excellent family team. I hope your wonderful Papa is well on the mend. Happy Labor Day and enjoy your eggs!♥️♥️⛈🥚
The thunder eggs are gorgeous! Hope your dad healed quick.
there are some beautiful colours in there. the light blues are gorgeous.
Next time with more carrying power you are going to be well loaded down,
THEY'RE ALL GONE!!!!! There only 2 THUNDER STONES LEFT!!!! AND THEY ARE BID ONLY!!! - WOW!!! You hit the JACKPOT GUYS!!!! I hope you can keep up with getting them because they are BEAUTIFUL!!!
My heart jumps for joy. I love watching this
Very nice. Beautiful scenery!
Hello there👋👋,how are you doing today?hope you’re having a good day?God bless you!!❤️
Love that area! We use to collect thunder eggs on our way up to the Empire Valley Gold MIne at the top of Black dome Mountain. There was a good field by our old air strip landing roughly at the top of China ridge. The family that use to live at Higginbottom flats had a ton of sites for Thunder eggs.
Nice Dan! I'm out prospecting this holiday weekend as well! About to make my 3 hour drive home after I though a few pans in Park County Colorado. Thanks for all your inspiration!
Your dad is the cutest bean ever. I really love him.
Love to see those thunder eggs under UV light.
Hope you Dad heals up soon.
....Or even a black light...🤓👍
Dad's a trooper! unusual shades of green on some of those. Thanks for explaining that.
Hello there👋👋,how are you doing today?hope you’re having a good day?God bless you!!!❤️
Your dad is such a trooper 🥺, 10 stitches 😖 ouch. Your father, wife and son are really good at finding those thunder eggs. You guys found so many beautiful pieces. I'm headed to your website to check out what's available. I always love checking out what's in your shop, so many beautiful stones and gems. I need to make more money to get all the things I would want from there 😍😃🤗🤤🪨💎🛒
I learnt a long time ago to toss a small tube of Krazy Glue into my first aid kit, tackle box, etc. as it comes in very handy when you're hours way from help. As long as it's a fairly clean, not torn open too bad, it's very easy to glue yourself back together. There's not much difference between the stuff they use in the hospital and the stuff you guy. I've always been warned by my doctor about getting an infection but I've glued myself together probably 20-30 times and have never had an issue. With longer cuts you should do a little at a time and don't use too much glue as it will take a long time to dry. Every time I've managed to do a good enough job that I didn't bother getting it checked by a doctor.
My second wife used to love those thunder eggs. Back in the 90's I remember buying 5 or 6 she had set them up on display with lights along with some geodes. Sadly she got custody.
Another Great Video. Really nice seeing your family working/playing together.
Mr. Hurd (not Dan). Except for your son impaling you on a stick, you have been blessed with a wonderful son and daughter. Not to mention your wonderful daughter in law and grandchildren. You have done a great job, wow.
Are you going to be selling the bluegreen double? Top right corner at 22:20. It’s beautiful! Didn’t see it on the website 🤞🏼
See the size of thunder chickens laying them egg’s LOL 👍🤙👍🤙
Dan, I no you did show with the Gear Pan. Now the Chinese Alibaba is trying sell copy near copie it’s popping up along the eBay but not try selling on eBay. Now don’t know who created the gear pan, but I do believe this away manipulations and a conflict of interest by Google, EBay and Chinese. Gear pan creator deserves the right for his product to be shown, not cheap copie from communist dictators.
Hey, Dan, that one at 21:45 you should use as a map! Make it a map for a fantasy planet! Turn it into posters. Maybe have a competition to name that "planet". But I would love to have that poster!
WOW. Super cool,Dan! Overhead someone yesterday talking about prospecting gold. Long story short I turned them on to you're channel. Much love& admiration from WA
Cool stuff hope your Dad will be ok! Great content as always sir! Prospecting is so awesome whatever your finding.
Some of them really look like parts of Jupiter got stuck in a rock, absolutely stunning.
Get well soon Dad!!!
A note on those overhangs. I think a lot of people will underestimate how hazardous overhangs can be, especially because you're outdoors and not underground. My brother works as an ame on helicopters in Papua new guinea. One of the areas they go into has rivers with rich placers and many people work the banks. Unfortunately, they undercut the banks and the resulting overhangs sometimes collapse injuring and killing many of those who're panning.
The one that is two stones before the jet Stone looks like a world with its continents! I think you should call it the World Stone! Absolutely stunning I love that one too let me know! Hippie Steve from placerville
HOLY MOLEY!!!! SUCH BEAUTY!!!! The scenery, the thunder stones, and the Family!!!! :)
I've never heard of thunder stones before, but I am IN LOVE!!!! THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!! I gotta go check your site because I think I want one (but I gotta learn how to polish them up more.... they have some REAL DEPTH to them that will just POP if they're polished just right)
beautiful rocks from amazing landscape much love Dan
Hey Dan... If you are near the sheep creek bridge highway 20.. I have land there on the river you can try out.. Hope your dads ok take care be safe god bless
The first thunder egg that was cut and revealed looked like Totoro from the movie with said title. That was both an awesome starburst cut and adorable silhouette.
19:17. Sooo cute!!!!
Awesome specimens Dan. Its amazing how many different patterns they can be. Thanks Dan we appreciate it
Hello friends, greetings from me
Hope pappys arm is ok bro 💪 great video.. may your treasure hunting be blessed bro be safe Dan💯
