I dont get how people dont understand that for a lot of people valorant and apex dont compete with overwatch. Sure, they are all labled "hero shooters" but the gameplay in a game like overwatch or team fortress is vastly different that the gameplay in other games that are labled hero shooters. Im glad there are a few games that are like overwatch that are finally coming out, it could use some real competition. Now maybe concord ends up sucking which is more than likely but the point that Id like to make is that you cant just say, "Why play this when you can play a bunch of other hero shooters instead?" When Concord looks more way more overwatch like than those other games and a lot of people, myself included, have been waiting for a game like this. Not to mention, there are way more battle royales and tac shooters than hero shooters and people always go crazy for those.
Exactly, and the thing that makes apex and val not feel anything like ow is pretty simple, take genji for an example, imagine genji in apex... you probably cant because in order for genji to be in those games, he would need to be absolutely neutered so he can be balanced along side the other characters who would have the same access to guns as genji, how do you make a trully unique dash hero when both the defensive hero and dash hero have access ti the same shotgun? Well you gotta bring the defensive and dash hero more in line ability wise creating a heavy focus on the guns over the abilities and most people are addicted to overwatch and tf2 because of the heavy emphasis on abilities over guns. So if concord has those fixed kits like tf2, overwatch, battleborn or paladins than its gonna be in that genre, and unlike battleborn who was murdered by overwatches success or paladins and its spaghetti code, concord is coming out when overwatch is at its lowest and it clearly doesnt have spaghetti code like paladins so in my opinion, concord is the only true overwatch clone to come out, making it the only game to ever have a fair shot at dethroning overwatch.
Same here. Valorant is far different from overwatch 2. I have played both games extensively and they are a very different experience from eachother. Valorant is far more on the side of "team tactics, callouts, strategy, being careful and resourceful" but overwatch is more "rush in, get the point, hurl abilities at them (at least in lower ranks cause no one seems to use callouts in them)". Overwatch got alot of shit when it released on steam, which i think the amount was just unecessary. Its a fun game, thats what should matter. Concord is similar, getting alot of negative reviews because its an "overwatch clone", when it looks fun, its already playable, and seems very interesting. People do not like the genre, so they shit on it. I dont see people sticking up for hero shooters in the same amount or way that they do for every new battle royale or the new [insert disney franchise here] games that come out. Personally, I will be purchasing concord, because i really want to play it. Even if it does shut down in half a year, I will get my money's worth from the enjoyment of playing. If people dont buy it because they think they will waste their money, then it will not continue. Sometimes you just need a leap of faith to get the ball moving.

This is the next evolution of game companies milking more for investors. Previously free to play games become $40+ titles now. They cant raise micro transactions, it gets too much for one thing or too much of the game is monitized. There are little other areas to charge for. Pay to play "free to play" games is the next logical step.
I felt bad for the devs at first when I saw everyone was shitting on it. And then I saw the pronouns in the character select screen, and all my sympathy went out the window.
The opening cinematic had me interested, the characters seemed cool and looked like it was gonna be a nice Guardians of the galaxy type action/adventure game but all my interest died as soon as it was revealed to be nothing but another overwatch clone.
TF2 existed first so that makes Overwatch a clone as well. Whats wrong with having multiple type of games in same genre? This is completely normal and if they can make it even better than TF2 or Overwatch then why hate? Gameplay seems to be smooth and similar to Destiny 2 which is a good thing, gunplay in that game definitely triumphs Overwatch.

This game could be saved if they allowed some character load outs, stat tweaks and abilities customization specifically for each character. Since it's a live service, these custom features should be tied to events and one player/co-op activities. Loot boxes sure but no gambling mechanics.

I want a battle royal extraction shooter combo game. You can play to win the Battle Royale for in game currency or play the Battle Royale to get resources and then extract. So you got guys running around trying to kill everyone to win to get cash meanwhile some people are running around hiding trying to grind resourced and get out with them. And I guess you could do both but limit the cash you can get if you win the round with resources on you.
This game is basically a case study in the problem of trend chasing paired with overly long development times. Six years ago? This would be hyped to the moon, everyone would be excited for it. But.... in 2024, everyone is completely tired of hero shooters and of Marvel writing. With these long dev cycles, it's super hard to gauge where interests are gonna be at by the time you actually are able to show off the game.

Sure Sony could have made a new Sly Cooper game but with the Insomniac game leaks Rift Apart lost money overall (I'm sure it will make money eventually if it hasn't done so) and look at how much hype was behind the game. Honestly I love hero shooter mostly played paladins more then overwatch back in the day and I wanted to get back into paladins but with Marvel Rivals coming out for console I'm just gonna wait for that so I think Concord is gonna do really bad if it is just a generic hero shooter and doesn't bring anything big to the table

I'm excited for Concord because I'm tired of OverWatch being the only thing that seems to be what everyone cares about. Over 8 billion people plenty of space for another team-based hero shooter. There's no issues with the consulting group. The way bigger issue is the fact that it literally looks like something that was AI generated by a bunch of buzzwords. This game is basically a case study in the problem of trend chasing paired with overly long development times. Six years ago? This would be hyped to the moon, everyone would be excited for it. But.... in 2024, everyone is completely tired of hero shooters and of Marvel writing. With these long dev cycles, it's super hard to gauge where interests are gonna be at by the time you actually are able to show off the game.
Concord makes Redfall look great... because at least redfall was its own game.

It’s the same fucking slop that western triple-A devs gives us in order to earn easy money. Boring sci-fi setting, check. Quirky Marvel (but not really) characters, check. The story scene looked nice, characters cool, was expecting a guardians of the galaxy like game, but nope, 5v5 hero shooter.

Sure Sony could have made a new Sly Cooper game but with the Insomniac game leaks Rift Apart lost money overall (I'm sure it will make money eventually if it hasn't done so) and look at how much hype was behind the game. Over course people shit on the price tag but people need to realize that if we want these games, we need to support them day one. Overwatch 2 was not free2play at launch. It originally launched at $40USD. Albeit it did become free2play fairly quickly and seeing it did I guess the devs of Concord didn't take notice. Who knows this game may surprise us. Problem is this game will flop because videos like this that shit on the game before it's even out. People shit on DriveClub because PlayStation was stupid not to bring out a new Motorstorm and the game flopped in sales and now it's touted as an amazing game. Same went for Destruction AllStars and people wanted a new Twisted Metal game instead of that trash even thought the game was fun, entertaining and pretty polished. Also when Twisted Metal came out for the PS3 gamers shit on that version as well. So why should PlayStation give us anything when before games come out people shit on them before they're out. People just need to stop shitting on games that are made by devs that require to earn a living to survive.
