- It probably surprises none of you to know that I scout arcade machines weekly. Maybe daily. While on-site picking up my first machine of 2022 I was made an offer I couldn't refuse; an arcade machine for $100!

I had in my posession a SFII Hyper cabinet for almost two years and I had no idea that panel slid out like that to expose the PCB. Super cool!
I got rid of it because the green wasn’t working in the monitor and I lived in LA which didn’t offer much space. I sold it for like $350 to someone who made the monitor look beautiful again. Had I been watching your channel back then I may have hung on to it and serviced it myself. Oh well! I built a custom cabinet for my MiSTer and now I have SFII Hyper again (among others).
That feature makes these really easy to work on and super simple to swap boards. Congrats on the MiSTer setup though, that’s a sweet alternative that grants you plenty of options.
That really is such a steal for the cab, jamma wiring and 6 button control panel all ready to go. I'd pop in a Mistercade so fast if I had the chance! Looking forward to seeing your SFIII in a permanent home :)

Picked up a z back with extreme hunting last summer at a local auction. It had no guns and a working monitor. I picked it up for only $55 as there were no other bids. For sure the best deal of any cabs I’ve ever picked up. Like you I wasn’t planning on it but the look of the cab was cool and I thought it would make a great project and threw in a bid and it stuck for the win.
And yes the black bezel was a street fighter just like the one you found. Congrats on the great deal. Look forward to the restoration on the dynamo!
That’s a hell of a deal, $55! Grabbing these for working monitors alone is often worth it. Everything else is just gravy. Nice score man.
@@ScarletSprites and that’s $55 Canadian… so about $43 US lol 😂. I’ll let you know how it all works out. I’ve got a SF2 and a new challengers cps2 board that I’m debating putting in this cab. 🤔

No, lol. I have had at least two friends ask wtf I am doing by taking Police Trainer out. I could still keep the board and play it on the Astro City to shut them up.

I'm shocked by how common Police Trainer is. The arcade near me has two of them lol. $100 for something like that is nearly impossible to say no to. I also love finding the hints of the game's days in service. I'm a massive dork and often check the audits screens right away! I'm not sure why its exciting to me but it is.
It’s funny you mention that. I’ve started taking pics of high scores and coin counter numbers just to have before I start working on stuff.
@@ScarletSprites haha I did the exact same. I made an iCloud folder to store them all in. I usually reset all of that stuff once I get them.

If it wasn't for the fact that you already own a big blue, I would say turn it into a Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition Arcade. Theres just something about that Arcade cabinet that screams timeless classic. Nice grab!
I’ve been torn about putting the World Warrior art on it. That purple pink and yellow magenta is awesome.
police trainer was actually pretty awesome
I’ve had a few people, including friends, advocate for it. I’m being pressured to keep the board.
I really like police trainer actually, i got super good at it for awhile back in the day when i worked at round table
I’ve had quite a few people (including friends) advocate for keeping the board. I knew of the game but never had really played it. It’s a fun little series of challenges. I can see it being fun in short sessions.
😂 I love the idea of offsetting the cost by how much loose change was found inside.
That’s how I roll! I always love seeing how much is in the cracks. On my Virtua Fighter they were all in the coin bucket. The dude never even bothered opening the door and dumping it.
This thing is gonna be so flippin cool when you’re done. Get some custom side art with Cammy’s butt cheeks. When you turned that bezel around! You can’t buy a piece with history like that at Walmart.
There’s just so much to these machines that is lost when you go other routes. As I mentioned, going through them like some archeological dig is one of the best parts of a pickup. There’s just a lot to the experience that you can’t replicate or, emulate, in other ways.

My best catch was an Aero City for like... 150 euros from Poland. It was in a ratty rusted state, but now it's my cab that's housing a Garegga.

Nice find! I found a gutted one with a CRT for $20 a couple months ago on eBay, unfortunately couldn't make the trip out to get it at the time
That’s a steal for the CRT alone.
This is some good potential here with a Dynamo cabinet! Yes yes I'm still alive.. we're going to try our best this year to get the arcade cabinets up and running out in the shed. If anything... maybe down the road a collaboration? Can't wait to see how this turns out!

That’s the goal! Ordered some additional parts this week for internals. I’ll have to wait until Spring to paint unfortunately but I can maybe knock out the control panel and some wiring now.

@@JeffYPbPr The ones I recall seeing were all kits going into some type of six button layout machine. I recall seeing it in Dynamos like this one as well as Big Blue. Sadly, I do not believe there is original side art for any of the three SF3 games. Usually just stickers that went on the sides and a marquee.
@@ScarletSprites gotcha. There is one at a local arcade in York. It looks like it was an OG sf2 ce cab but with black sides, the sf3 logo sticker and marquee. The panel looked custom. Kinda like your panel art for your big blue. Fun cab though. I love 3rd strike

Is the cab painted black? Maybe if you carefully strip the paint you'll find the original artwork underneath in good shape. Possibly more SFII artwork?
No, there’s a strange double layer of hard-ish plastic. It’s not like vinyl or graphics I’ve found on other machines. It’s probably a strip down, laminate, and apply some Third Strike side art.

Dude i used love playing police trainer at my local mexican joint as a kid. They also had tekken. Good times. I'd love a police trainer machine.
A few people have advocated for keeping the Police Trainer board. Interestingly the coin bucket in this one has "Tekken" written on it.

I really can't ever recall playing it either prior to the footage you saw of me with it. I'll personally get more use out of it with a six button layout.

It's quite possible it needs more than if it was just running wild off of an unchecked line. In the best case though, yeah, just a cap kit. I have a spare flyback I can toss on it too if needed. The white dial that is currently on it seems to have a high failure rate.
The Price Is Right $88 machine wow lol incredible deal, if you factor in price of police trainer board, marquee, coin mechs and guns i think you are ahead at least $300. So the guy gave you $300 to take this away and now you an original sf2 ce cab lol that can be used for sf3 👍👍
That pretty much summarizes my entire thought process, yes! I did/do have delusions about putting Battletoads artwork on it or possibly Lethal Enforcers but I’m trying to get those out of my head.

Definitely a great cab for any Capcom fighter imo. Classic.
Great find! The glass alone is worth the price! Sell off the PCB and guns as is and you will break even. It may even cover the artwork.
If you want, shoot me the chassis and I can go through it to see what's up and rebuild it on a Live stream.

Thanks for the offer man. I got a cap kit and flyback I can put on it. I’m also going to fix the power cable because it’s basically an extension cord someone cut and twisted on. I’ll put a clean power cable on and turn the connector back into molex. If it doesn’t work after that and you want to fool with it you certainly can.
This is Retro KillDashNine went through a rebrand name to take advantage of the RUclips algorithm. Anyways long time fan of your channel. I love the fact you got a great deal and turning it into something awesome. I love learning arcade history and had no idea that SF2 shared this type of cab. Police Trainer was was awesome back in the day and have very found memories playing it. It makes me happy to see people like you and Ralph keeping the spirit of the arcades live and well.

I picked up Bride of Pinbot a while back, inside was the paperwork for it’s delivery which was changed from a T2. A story like that is really cool and unique

Have a dynamo as well. The angle of the cp hurts my wrists after awhile but it wasn't meant to be played on continuously like that anyways. For 100$ you broke even if you sell the guns and pcb.
Yes, I was in it for the spare monitor alone. Looking it over though things seem more than salvageable.

I'm super excited about this one. When my best friend and I were playing Street Fighter it was the Champion Edition cab. I would LOVE to see this restoration! I would have bought it for $100 easily, and put money into it to recondition, absolutely. Dude, you made out on that one. Glad it had the original bezel, bummer about the marquee. Make this series of videos please! Very interested. Also, your production skills on your videos is getting very professional. Keep doing what you are doing

Yeah, I'm sure that depending on where you live you'd never find this. I can imagine that new kits would be pricey to even make it worthwhile for the seller to produce them.

Thanks man, hopefully this will be done in Spring. It’s unfortunately really tough to work on the sides and paint this in winter. It actually too cold for the paint to bind correctly so I’m trying to do the other stuff first.

I picked up the same Dynamo cab with a 2 player Arkanoid. My project goal was to create a bootleg Street Fighter II cabinet but with all the awful artwork from bootleg games like Master Fighter.

@@ScarletSprites I have a folder full of awful Street Fighter art, some of which is official, like the trading cards. Plus there's the cover art to Master Fighter. It's all so bad it's good. Plus I'm an oddball, the kind that would make a bootleg cabinet with sus art. 😄

I could easily flip the guns and board to put me ahead. I may still do that. I still haven’t confirmed operation of the guns though. That’ll be this weekend.
The blitz 99 is a second blitz cabinet and not the sports station right?
I have an original dedicated SportStation. The Blitz 99 I grabbed additionally for another purpose and I kind of hit a roadblock after getting it. So I have a SportStation and a Blitz 99 (running Blitz 2000 Gold)

Me either! I’m kind of annoyed it’s winter and I’m going to have to wait on painting and doing some of the body work. But if I get the control panel done and the wiring and monitor sorted I should be in good shape. It’s just kind of the reverse of how I normally go about things.

Haha, I DID forget to mention that the screwdriver I was using to get the coins out of the sides was in the bottom of the cabinet. FREE tools!
This is awesome! I totally picked up one of these off the side of the road for free as someone was putting it out. Totally working but not really a fun game. I’m sooooo interested to see if mine was a SFII as well when I get home! Nice pickup! =)
Yeah, I don’t see myself playing much Police Trainer. This will definitely see more use as a Jamma wired cabinet where I can swap boards in and out. Kind of like a larger Astro City for me.

That is a great deal! I had a similar experience went to get a cab and the guy offered me an HS-5 for $25! i had to take it even though it was completely empty.
Right!? I’m fully aware that these are essentially “generic” machines, but they’re awesome nonetheless. I don’t place any less value on something like this that I remember playing on back in the day.
