I would like to clarify a few things about the video. We are still in the experimental phase since it is early in the stage. There is no one-size-fits-all build in Sod, and you may swap different runes against different classes if you believe it works best for you. The surprise element of Sod is that there's no rule book for PVP, which means that you can experiment and discover new strategies that work for you. Make necessary changes as needed. My guide is not perfect in any way. This is just my personal preference that yields me the best and most consistent result. Correction: 1. I used a different build for bg in this video so I did not put 1 point in precision. That is just my personal preference for the way I play in BG. But please invest one point in precision if you will play Frost. 2. Winter's chill is still good against Priest. This one is a personal preference. I personally don't think it's worth investing in but please take winter's chill if you feel necessary.
I'm glad to see someone else out there has discovered how strong Frost Mages with Fire Runes + Chrono really are. Because I've not heard people talk about the Frost Mage Healer hybrid spec and idk why because it's the best version of Mage I've ever played! My talents are exactly like yours except I took 3 points out of Shatter and put them into Frost Channeling and I usually use the Enlightenment (I'd use Enlightenment on Chest for any Mage spec in BM) I've found it to be especially good in STV BM sense you are almost always below 35% mana it makes your mana regen really good! I also didn't put my first 5 in Frostbolt I took the extra armor & EP. I've been getting 2k coin runs in BM playing in a duo Healer comp. I've had the most success Duo Healing along side a Disc or Rdruid. And then you can take almost any 2 or 3 casters but the most busted comp I think is 2 Heal/ 2 Caster Dps/ 1 Melee peel Rogue being the best imo. For my casters I usually like taking a Boomy & Spriest but I had a really run subbing out the Spriest with a Destro. If you are able to hold down an angle where you aren't being flanked from behind and the 2 casters can pump with the Healers keeping them topped and the Rogue just peeling ready to stun anyone that attacks anyone in the group you can play super sustainable. With me using Nova, Rank 1 Cone of Cold which often procs Frostbite to peel for my team mates and 2 healers... Our Destro was just sitting back casting Chaos Bolts racking up KBs it was insane. Went a whole run with only 2 deaths this morning. I also agree that Rank 1 blizzard, Cone of Cold, & Frost Nova are all really good to use with this spec in pvp. There's no need to use those abilities for anything other than the chill or Nova affects which you get with rank 1.
I use Frostfire bolt over Spellfrost even though it has a longer cast time because I use the Fire ring anyways sense I use Living Bomb + Flame. FFB hits like a truck! I'm critting people in pvp for 14k and I don't even have Piercing Ice. I believe the spec is going to have some pve potential next phase when you can grab Ignite with the spec out of the Fire tree. Also idk if you mentioned this in the video I was playing as I listened and zoned in and out but another pro tip with this spec is have 2 pair of pants 1 with Living Flame & 1 with Living Bomb..... Ice Block actually drops you out of combat for a split second as it ends and if you are spamming to change your pants you can do it. So you you can Living Bomb, Living Flame someone (with a chill affect on them of course) and then Ice Block and if they aren't dead by then you can swap your pants and come out of your Ice Block with Icy Veins, Cold Snap, Icy Veins again, then Block again and come back out with Living Flame again. I'm undefeated in duels sense I mastered this tech.
Ummm i am a multi R1 Lock and i love the pvp enthusiasm, but you i think are saying use living bomb and living flame then heal which makes sense however u don't have any heal rumes equipped or living bomb? Also it's one thing to talk about what's good to do and it's totally another to show it against different classes that some people can have trouble with. Just a suggestion, but good luck and keep PVPing!
1. I do have chronostatic preservation on boots unless you mean regeneration then no mages don’t use regeneration anymore because of the nerf on living flame healing effect. It’s pretty worthless at this point. The build I am showing here is exactly what I would use in bg. I did point out to use living bomb in duel for most of the time. 2. Yes I agree real fight would turn out different than what’s on the book.m but people need to know the fundamentals of the class and meta before going into any duel otherwise they would have no idea what to to. I’ve seen People doing the same thing over and over again. It’s better to have the fundamental then build experience on top of that.
What i can say after 4:24 watching this video U have only 1%hit chance on gear and didn’t take 1 point from elemental precision it’s might be pvp hit cap. WinterChill talents also might be usefull vs priests like dispell protection. Continue to watching
Also about FOF rune. It might be a bug but atm i see fof proc only with frostbite proc on a target at the same time,u can also see it on ur vid. Soo it might be not worth using it
Yes that was my bad. I forgot to mention because I was testing the build. I’ve always put at least one point in precision as I mentioned in multiple my previous videos. Winters chill is good for the dispell but that’s just risk and reward problem. You can invest 5 points just for the priest. Or other talents that could benefit against all because we re limited with 31 points right now.
@@ValeriyKarpin78 yes it’s bugged but fof don’t proc off frostbite rather frostbite trigger fof. I did tests on this. If you only have 2 points in frostbite, fof proc a little bit more often then frostbite which mean frostbite trigger off but fof don’t rely on frostbite proc. It is still the best option if you going to use ice lance. Other wise take elightment and bomb for duel.
Some really good info here, thanks! You could improve by using examples and using some editing/structuring so it’s easier to concentrate and take in the info
It’s just really miserable time to try to play frost in bg currently - you can’t put down any hard cast frost bolts and praying you get a 1v1 to use this LF tactic is so far few and in between…. I’ve found that playing fire and living bombing the entire group infront of me and dropping specific people with fireblast/instant pyro is the only way effectively do BG at this time The opener to a blacksmith is always the best time with a LF sent to the back and combust/bombs I get 2-4 free pyros around the fireblast and for melee who get close blastwave…. Die and do it again The ice barrier and iceblock are not worth the zero damage
Criticisms: Take Elemental Precision. Getting to 5% PvP Hit Cap is more valuable than ANYTHING ELSE. Only time you shouldnt have this talented is if you have a ton of Spell Pen / Hit % already. Other than that this is exactly the same build I run for deep frost, with the only things I change being certain rune selections based on if its 1v1s or groups, or if its specific classes. I also tend to run Icy Veins instead of Living Flame for 1v1s, since Cold Snap will reset Icy Veins. The amount of burst you can do in one shatter-combo with Icy Veins going can be insane.
5% is for pve I believe it’s for target 2levels above u. You only need 3% in pvp situation. If one can manage to get the tier chest and pants, then they should be ok without precision. But I agree with u, I should put one point jn precision. I forgot to mention in the video. However, living flame and bomb don’t rely on hit chance which mean I can get by with 1 or 2 % hit. Icy veins rely too much on hard cast. You can only shatter if you get fof proc. Any rng based playstyle is not reliable and inconsistent to me. That was why dot damage was the king back in classic era because you can’t dodge, resist and interfere the damage.
@@shenjgaming4641 You don't only need FoF proc to do shatter. You can just frost nova them... Or get a talent proc for a free nova... Also you need to hard cast anyways to do the most damage in a shatter, Icy Veins just makes you be able to do that faster and not suffer spell-kickback.

Also scorch is what I usually do if I need to put off single target pressure in a pinch.
Cool :).Will be nice if you show us counter attacks and tactics that we should use in 1v1 for each class. Thanks!
Thoughts on the buffs coming Tuesday?? I feel like both the chrono buff and the spellfrost buff might be pretty huge no?
"living flame is your damage, dont need to improve ice damage" *puts points into ice shards*
