It's like you've seen the past 20 years of my software history! I once had many of the ones you denounce, and now use many of the ones you recommend. 👍
@@gvstaden1 Funny joke, everyone is laughing!!., I have had a couple of bad experiences with Windows too, like the Blue Screen of Death. But it doesn’t mean, you just stop???
@richardkUK8764 everyone told me I need a new laptop. At least $2000. I wasn't willing to spend that amount. So I switched to Linux. That solved all my problems. Even my old laptop from 20 years ago is running amazing with Linux. Therefore, Windows is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
Video. Jitsi is the best option I have found. Free, open source, works from a web browser (has apps too if you so prefer) and respects your privacy without being in the way of your workflow.
I was waiting for you to recommend MPV as a media player. I initially downloaded it to use on a very slow laptop, but ended up liking it so much that I use it in my "fast" laptop as well - and recommend it to everyone I know.
Hello again, Brett in Tech Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I can count on your straight to the point style. That I can appreciate. Again thank you 😆
Brett, what do you think of Total Defense ? I've always been a little suspicious of Kaspersky. Recently I had my pc in the shop. and the owner told me he only uses Total Defense. He put it on my machine and I love it. It replaces decades of relying on Norton, which is very expensive these days. Total Defense was $75.
Kaspersky AV is an excellent Anti-virus program. No issues with over 20 years of continuous use. Whilst understandable for US government departments and contractors, for the average person, it's unnecessary fearmongering to advise against installing the product and definitely controversial. Some could easily describe Microsoft, Norton and McAfee as companies that are also dangerous to have their software installed on an individual's computer.
This channel is actually fair so as jaded as I am, I gotta agree that Kaspersky is to be avoided. I'd pick Bitdef over it any day. The difference is WHERE does the info go to. Even if the other companies spy on your activity and credentials, the info stays on home soil. With Russia, they got a whole lot of problems with leaks going to different organizations. People just want their data to stay on home soil.
@@MattStevens9824 My long time anti-virus has been Malwarebytes, both free and paid versions, and I can also recommend Avast Antivirus. Keeping data at home - that has ALWAYS been my objection to ANY "cloud" function. If you don't know WHICH computer your data is on, you do not have control of your data.
Anydesk, it's garbage! Our network slows down when a single user is logged in. Network traffic activity goes through the roof. It's flaky, unstable, crashes locking out the remote PC and is slow on most any network I have seen it on. There are better out there, please use something better. You'll be glad you did.
@@theresurrection6561 The one on the Glarysoft? I rarely use the Registry Cleaner module, mostly I use the Disk Cleanup, Uninstall Manager, etc. But when I did use it, maybe I was very lucky, because it did not affect my laptops' stability or operation.
I hate to hear that Real Player is no longer a good player. I used it in its hay day. I have not used it for a number of years. I will add, that after I had stopped using Real Player, I noticed that it was going down hill and was hard to find; so, I not surprised it is on a don't use list.
Realplayer is easy to find and this video didn't really say what the problem with it is. It works, plays videos and music and can download online content for later viewing. Seems to be ok to me though I don't use its browser at all and it does play some files that others can't, including damaged videos, so It's still around and still works even if some people don't like it.
@@alandunaway3000I wasn't commenting on the company but rather the product and it really doesn't matter where they're located or what ties they continue to have with the Russian government. The US has banned all sales of Kaspersky products and Kaspersky (the company) will no longer be offering updates or sales to US based customers as of July 20th. They've closed all US offices and layed off the workers.
I remember back in the day, limewire saying the program didn't contain spyware or anything like that, and it was true but right after installing it - it would download and install the spyware 😂 so it was technically correct
Just FYI: What you called U-torrent is in error, the symbol used is the Greek letter mu which is used by math and science to indicate "micro" so the proper name is "Micro-torrent".
How can one fully remove Zoom from a Mac? My online community uses Zoom, but I have an old PC laptop and an old Mac laptop for that can be swapped out for software like this. 😂
ZOOM? I mean , seriously? I had heard that there were issues but I thought those were all resolved. Between Meet, Zoom and Teams I still prefer Zoom because of its simple interface and the features it offers.
uTorrent - I know this will be a completely foreign concept, but you don't HAVE to run the latest version of every program. Yes, I know that idea is shocking, but "upgrading" to the latest version of every piece of software you use isn't mandatory. Version 2.0.4 of uTorrent still works just fine and has no adware or spyware. Not to mention that it's less than half a meg in just a single file that doesn't even need to be installed. Which I guess doesn't matter to anyone, now that a "low end" system is a Ryzen processor and 30GB of RAM...
You did the right thing, Kaspersky is probably one of the best AV applications on the market. This statement is based more likely on a typical western propaganda where almost everything worthwhile from China or Russia is banned.
Might wanna add Crowdstrike to that list.

It scores very well in independent tests for malware protection, so it's a good option.
Total Defense is owned by OpenText/Zix, a marketing/data broker company.
