Wonderful performance of a stunning, over-the-top piece. The utter precision, and musicality, of the playing and vocal work is in contrast to the emotional overload of the music. A great foil; contributions from utter precision and emotional abandonment!
Kudos to the band, and their Bandmaster/Conductor.

He later orchestrated it with strings for the concert hall...partly because, as the first performance was outside during a procession...no one could really hear it all that well!
So there are two versions of this magnificent and noble work (even the critical and often jealous Wagner praised it).
This is also magnificent playing...BRAVO BRAVO !

The strings are merely added 'ad libitum' (cellos and basses in parts of the 1st movement; full strings in 3rd movement), but this doesn't constitute another 'version'.

Yes...you are welcome for a small favor among so many of yours !
Berlioz and Wagner got on better than could be expected, given 10 years difference in age and different conceptions of the orchestra/musical practice-but Wagner's praise of his works from his time in Paris was genuine and an influence; 'Romeo and Juliette' literally knocked his musical socks off!
Later animosities hide they WERE deeply fascinated by each other-and the egotistical Richard considered Hector one of his few peers.

Impressive performance. I wasn't know that Hector Berlioz had a symphony writed originally for symphonic band. Congratulations for your interpretation.

The hall is the Bolshoy (Large or Great) Hall of the Moscow (Tchaikovsky) Conservatory. The Tchaikovsky Concert Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic is the other main Moscow hall, out on the ring road (forget the name of the nearby metro station) (and the Moscow Philharmonic in this case means the central presenting organization in Moscow, an orchestra of that name, of which there is at least one). A little confusing if one isn't familiar with Moscow. Anyway, thanks for posting.

    純音楽的には素晴らしいと思うが、2024年3月現在の状況では複雑な気分は否めない。だがテロに倒れた一般市民には罪は無い。謹んで聴かせて頂いた。
