Okay, so I’m a nail tech and so far this is one of the best videos I’ve seen, by a non-pro. Two things: 1. maybe use a buffer on your natural nail, it’s more gentle and doesn’t remove as much of your natural from the surface. You can also use it to remove the shine from the top coat when removing. Makes things go faster. 2. If you don’t want to buy scrub fresh, save the bottle and get 99% alcohol and pure acetone. Do 75% alcohol 25% acetone, makes a perfect scrub/dehydrator and you save money. Honestly you did an amazing job. Some of the videos I’ve watched made my skin crawl.
I read the first few words and I was like "Uh oh I hope I’m not in trouble!!" 😂😩 This means so much to me! Thank youuuu and thank you for the tips. 🖤☺️
Cheyenne Wiseman in most cases you want to get the light that goes with the system your using. Buuuut most led lights with a higher watt works. So for instance my light is a 42watt because it has 42 led lights in it.
TheBeautyVault your so welcome. Some of the things I’ve seen girls do to their nails on here is horrific, the things nightmares are made of. If you wanna learn some more about gel polish, tips and tricks, check out Suzie from nailcarriereducation. She’s a nail tech on the island and is amazing.
If you rough up your nails with the file before soaking the acetone will penetrate more and it'll be easier to remove the Polish with the pusher at that point.
Been debating if I should do my gel nails at home for quite some time and honestly this video is the push I needed. I’m very good at doing my nails, but am too impatient to wait for regular nails polish to dry so I just opt for gel at the salon, but GIRL it hurts to be paying $50 for your nails when you have other important things to pay for :( thank you so much for giving me the push, and just in time for Xmas!
Ashley Avila, ugh I understand the struckle of waiting till your nails are dry. Also it sucks when tge regular polish chips of 3 days after you done them.
@@WhoisKell that's exactly the reason why I got an UV gel polish kit! It annoys me so much that after all the waiting time I end up with fingerprints on my polish or it justs chips off 24h later.
Girl where tf do YOU live???? The gel mani where I'm from is $35 but that still hurts when it only lasts just under 2 weeks 😒 I'm not going back to a salon. I'd rather invest in my own at home nail set up.
LaTonya Griffin and new t to mention doing hem the way you want, yeah you can tell them but they don’t always do the best stuff, or don’t have the supplies to do it
Ashley Avila Did you do it? I have all the supplies in my Amazon cart and am having trouble pulling the trigger. I REALLY want to save some money but am worried that I will fail as while I do a pretty good job on my own pedicures, I have no beauty background.
I do my gel nails at home too!! I agree, it's honestly really fun and therapeutic to do that I actually look forward to doing them. Protip: I usually buff off the topcoat layer so the acetone can really get in there. It makes scraping off the color soooo much easier! 😁
Thank you for the tip!! It seems from most of the comments, that's the one step I'm missing. Anything to make the removal process easier is a life saver. 🤗
YES! I second this as well and do this with mine. Another tip I have is I always paint starting on the outside going inward and w/my pinky first. That way I'm not reaching over freshly painted nails and possibly smudging them before I'm ready to cure. (Same w/when I use regular polish too)
I’ve been doing my own nails and friends nails forever. U do an amazing job. But don’t waste ur money on gelish products as in the primer and stuff. Just use regular 100% acetone and lightly buff ur nails and the polish will last. Mine always last 3.5 weeks or until I change the color! Also capping the nail works sometimes and other times it doesn’t make a diff I think it’s just the polish! Ameli is a gel brand that is amazing with polishes! Gelish idk I’m still on the fence about
I just started doing my own nails too. Right now I’m just using regular polish...i need to invest in this kit! Also, I NEED THAT CUTICLE REMOVER ASAP 👌🏽
Just got my gel kit and cure lamp today. This video has helped give me a wee confidence boost! Never played with gels before and now I can't wait. Your nails are amazing x
I loved this video. I do my own nails at home as well. I was spending way too much money at the salon and the wear of my manicure was absolutely awful. I wasn't even getting a week's worth of wear out of a gel polish manicure or a dip powder manicure (literally, the last dip powder manicure only lasted 4 days before it started to lift). When I do a gel manicure at home, I usually get 3 weeks out of them depending on how much time I spent paying attention to small details during. I have found so many "what not to do's" because of it! I love how detailed you made this! Anyone wanting to start doing their own gel nails at home will definitely benefit from this video. With that being said, yes, please upload more videos like this if you're considering it!
I just got my nails done yesterday at the salon, AGAIN. I always just do gel color, no fake nails, etc. It's becoming pricey, and I am more than willing to do this at home. GREAT video, thank you so much. I am ordering the kit off of Amazon on Friday
Can’t wear nail polish because of my job. But here to support ma gurl!! Dude lighting and how to set up camera’s is overwhelming to me. I don’t know how y’all do it.
You da best. 🖤 Yeah lighting can really eat a bag of dicks, it's so hard to get right and I feel like literally anyone from newbie to pro struggles with it. 😩
I actually do the same process as you, but I have a different lamp. However I absolutely love the way you put this video together, the result looks incredibly clean and this was just so satisfying to watch!!
I buy them at Sally Beauty, Cosmoprof, random little local beauty shops and Amazon. I think Ulta carries some as well. I'm so happy you liked the video. ☺️🖤
Thank you for the video! You did a fantastic job! You explained the process extremely well. I have been going to the salon for about a year and a half now and it is just SO damn expensive! I have four boys ages 6 and under, so I always do gel in order to ensure my manicure lasts. I also recently became a stay at home Mom and I am 100% making the switch to at-home gel manicures to save myself some $$$! Thank you again!🖤💅🏻
Love this video!! I do my own gel nails at home also, and I am NO nail tech either!! I use a buffer to buff the shine off the nail before soaking them. Then the polish peels right off after the soak!!
First time viewer, instant subscriber! OMG great video; this was exactly what I was looking for. So tired of paying someone to do a half ass job on my nails!! THANK YOU!
im not a tech nail and i agree with you!! Its so true that it gets too expensive to do our nails in a saloon, i agree there's so much techniques involved... but im doing my owns for two years, like you said, first I get to save some money, than less time wasted to go to the saloon lol, then i get to create my own style just like i prefer! :D my friends ask me to theirs, but i never do, cause i think its a great responsability to do others, so in that case i tell them to go to a pro! but i love yours!! keep going!!! love your videos
Love the vid! Just a tip, it’s better to file through the top of layer gel before soaking it in acetone. And honestly when you open that foil, the polish has lifted itself. I do it all the time to save the extra $15 when I go and do my nails
just came across this video and immediately subscribed; your nail videos are really satisfying to watch and explains really well to a complete beginner like me :-) looking forward to future videos!
I just want you to know I love how dedicated you are. You motivate me and I’m trying to get to your level lol I know I have to work a little more harder on my channel but i will take my time. I love my 534 Subbies and some day I will look back and say WOW look how far i've came. I say this bc i know you started off with only a handful of Subbies and now look at you! You go girl!!!
Aw thank you so much. 😭🖤 Just keep going and don't give up. I still have moments where I doubt myself and then I snap myself out of it and remember how far I've come.
*102 DOLLARS FOR A MINI STARTER KIT??!* Girl, i payed 9$ on aliexpress for 1.mini top and base 2. Builder gel 3. i actually got my lamp off aliexpress too (its one of those SUN ones) and i even buy my gel polishes off there, they are amazing!! try them out, they have small- normal sized polish bottles and i have probably 30 of them and i love it!
Ooohhh they turned out real beautiful ! I am not a fan of black but you made me change my mind 😍I loved the shape and length. I want to start giving myself mamis &pedis and learn to do acrylics so I was about to buy a lamp at Walmart but idk man 🤔 I have a feeling it is total crap 😫
Thank you! 🖤You should search the lamp from Walmart on Amazon and see if they have it. Could save some money and read the reviews on it first before making the investment.
Loved this video! You do an amazing job, probably one of the best at home gel videos I have seen on youtube. As for myself, I love the look of gel polish but hate the removal process. I also have a few hundred regular nail polishes in my collection and I find the variety in color and finish more diverse than gel formulas I have experimented with. My solution is to use my regular nail polish with a gel top coat. The trick is however, your nail polish must be DRY, DRY, DRY before applying the gel top coat and curing under the UV/LED lamp (I think mine is LED). My manicure looks amazing and the removal process is so easy! These two products are not made to play together so of course using a gel system is best. Anyways, I hope someone finds this helpful. Also, I have been seeing a bunch of "No light" gel polishes and "1 step" gel polishes lately and personally I don't trust them but has anyone found one they really liked? Gel needs a lamp to cure, so my thought is these are really just regular polish with a gimmick.
That’s the shape I always have! I have small child like hands lol with short fingers and that shape makes my fingers look a little longer which is very nice.
Don't peel it off! You'll seriously jack up your nails if you do that. (Saying that from experience.) Otherwise, I think you did an amazing job explaining your process!
Looks great, you are meticulous! I have been doing my own gel nails for years. If I use too much product I get the goop nail too 😆 Thanks for the tips.
Thank you!! Yeah something about being able to control and perfect the finished product is so satisfying to me.. if only I could apply this to winged eyeliner. 😂
Very nice. I've been wanting to get my own kit rather than paying close to $55 to get mine done. And yes I agree, it's almost as much as my phone bill.
I wonder if you use cnd shellac polishes and what you think of them? It would be interesting to see your opinion on differend gel polishes brands and so perhaps you could film a review type of video about it? Please can you also do ‚assumptions about me video’? Your nail tutorials are great 😍
Hey, I actually would love such a polish like this OPI Black Onyx. The trick is to cure your nails while holding them upside down in the lamp. You get the full effect if you put a mirror onder the lamp so they actually do cure while upside down (tho mirror or no mirror it works for me both ways - I have a modelones LED Lamp). This works with any runny gels because it levels the gel and creates a nice apex. I learnt this trick from an actual nail technician!
yayy youtube is making its job informing when u upload♥, plus this video arrive in good time i've been thinking on making my nails with gel, i didn't dare before because i'm affraid to damage my natural nails. thankss for the video and happy halloween♥
I bought a UV lamp and an LED lamp and a bunch of gel polishes. I never know how long to let them cure or which ones to use. Hope this helps. I've given up at this point.
To remove the gel u need to file the top and soaked them using the "Pure acetone" for like 5-10 minutes. Then u scrape them off to not damage the nails 😊
I watched your video several times and bought everything you use to get this beautiful look, but at the end when I used the nail surface cleanse like you did, it removed some of the gel polish. What might be the reason for this? I love all your videos btw:)❤️
Such a great video, but please don’t ever peel away gel! I know it’s so tempting to do since soaking off the polish takes so long, but peeling is very damaging for your nails! Your peeling of layers of your nails which will ultimately make them weaker, and makes them prone to breaking!
im a nail tech and this is perfomed just like a nailtech would have done it :D im not sure if u buffed the surface of your nails tho prior to applying products, its a good thing to remove surface shine and makes the polish last forever ! =) not to rough tho, a good not too fine grit buffer will do the job perfect

*102 DOLLARS FOR A MINI STARTER KIT??!*
Girl, i payed 9$ on aliexpress for
1.mini top and base
2. Builder gel
3. Brushes and dotting tools
4. a nice compact lamp the size of a phone
+Ethylic alcohol that i already had, as a dehydrator (poured into a clean, empty nail polish bottle)
+nail filer - i just buy that from a store, currently using 100/180 one soft side, one hard side which is perfect (recently ordered an electric one as well)
+polishes - it may be a bit untraditional but i use regular nail polishes until i can upgrade to some proper, gel ones
+your trusty acetone
And that covers the basics, there is literally no reason to pay more than, say, up to 20$ for a *MINI* starter kit, much less 5 times that
When you compare it to your salon prices you should remember that beside the products used, that fee also includes the service, speed, some sort of guarantee of their work and taxes. The products themselves don’t cost a lot, especially if they don’t have some big brand name slapped on them.

Also, I have been seeing a bunch of "No light" gel polishes and "1 step" gel polishes lately and personally I don't trust them but has anyone found one they really liked? Gel needs a lamp to cure, so my thought is these are really just regular polish with a gimmick.
I like the wet n wild 1 step gel nail polishes! They’re not real gel of course but I like the thick shiny finish they give.
I keep coming back to this video. It's the 4th time i wach this😂🖤🖤🖤🖤
That’s the shape I always have! I have small child like hands lol with short fingers and that shape makes my fingers look a little longer which is very nice.
Love ur nail vids. Love ur nails. Love ur narration. Can you tell i enjoyed it? Thought your are a professional. 👍🏽👌🏽❤️
Amazing job! :O I love your voice, it's so calming.
Diana Gendová thank you 🙊☺️
Obsessed with you. I started watching your videos today and I’ve subscribed, watched ads, and bought the gelish kit. xo
Um wow. 😭💖 You are so sweet, thank you so much! And welcome. 🤗
Don't peel it off! You'll seriously jack up your nails if you do that. (Saying that from experience.) Otherwise, I think you did an amazing job explaining your process!
Try blue sky gel polished I’m a nail technician and these are the polished I use on my own nails they are £6.50 off amazon x
you should try kiara sky’s gelly tips they have many colors including many shades a pink ik how much you love your pinks
so beautiful, well done! So is it OK if someone follows the same technique with gel pedicure as well?
Yep I use almost the same steps for my toes. ☺️
I've been waiting for this for so long!!
Happy you hung in there, only took me 3 years. 😂🖤
Very nice. I've been wanting to get my own kit rather than paying close to $55 to get mine done. And yes I agree, it's almost as much as my phone bill.
Those look amazing, loved this!
Thank you! 🖤
I LOVE SQUARE SHAPE NAILS / PLEASE DO SQUARE SHAPE NAILS !
This was so perfect, can't wait to try it! Thanks!
this was so helpful! I would love more videos like this
I’m convinced you have the same voice as raw kristi beauty
I wonder if you use cnd shellac polishes and what you think of them? It would be interesting to see your opinion on differend gel polishes brands and so perhaps you could film a review type of video about it? Please can you also do ‚assumptions about me video’? Your nail tutorials are great 😍
I happen to love your chatty intros, so keep on chatting :-)
Hahah thank you for enabling me to ramble. 😂🖤
Your makeup reminds me of the Childlike Empress from The Neverending Story so fricking hard.
😂😂
This is so satisfying. I am horrible & touch the cuticle toooooo much. Any help
Or advice??
I love your nail videos soooooooooo much 😍😍
Yes for the cuticle removal! 👐 so unattractive when people paint their nails and their cuticle beds look horrible
Oh yeah for sure, it's a game changer. I could never do my nails without cleaning the cuticles, would drive me nuts!
"i just like to use both cuz im extra" lmaoooo hahaha feelin it
Beautifully done! When can I schedule my appointment to get my makeup AND nails done?! ha, ha! :)
Anytime Teresa!! 🖤😂
First time on ur channel and already gave u a like from the beginning. Love ur screen wallpaper 😃
its so pretty!
Excellent detailed video !! Thank you😃
yayy youtube is making its job informing when u upload♥, plus this video arrive in good time i've been thinking on making my nails with gel, i didn't dare before because i'm affraid to damage my natural nails. thankss for the video and happy halloween♥
At last! 😩❤️ Thank you so much. Happy Halloween!! 🎃💀🖤
I bought a UV lamp and an LED lamp and a bunch of gel polishes. I never know how long to let them cure or which ones to use. Hope this helps. I've given up at this point.
Your hilarious 😂 I do them at hone now too, and I love not having to be social too 😎
Beautiful nails. I started to do my own too it was getting to be to expensive.
Thank you ☺️
How long have you had your lamp for? I hear mixed reviews some say it doesn't last long. You you have convinced me to buy the kit!
Hmm I wonder if maybe you didn’t cure long enough? Are you using an LED lamp? And thank you! 🥰
The Beauty Vault, I will be sure to try it out longer thank you:)) and yes I bought the same one you have from Sally’s :)
Nail polish Colour is awesome.
Such a great video, but please don’t ever peel away gel! I know it’s so tempting to do since soaking off the polish takes so long, but peeling is very damaging for your nails! Your peeling of layers of your nails which will ultimately make them weaker, and makes them prone to breaking!
Beautiful job! Have you tried with regular nail polish?
im a nail tech and this is perfomed just like a nailtech would have done it :D im not sure if u buffed the surface of your nails tho prior to applying products, its a good thing to remove surface shine and makes the polish last forever ! =) not to rough tho, a good not too fine grit buffer will do the job perfect
I sure did and thank you very much! ☺️
