Could you use a collapsible portable kettle.. bring it to a boil.. allow the dishes to soak.. and than clean when the water become warm.
Love your videos!!
Thanks Keith. I agree a kettle of hot water is the best method. When I am camped near a water source this works well. I made this video for those (like me) who what to spend time in wilderness where water is not available. This method minimizes water use and allows me to say camping longer in those cases. Water is a big limiting factor when camping. You can bring enough food to last months but bringing lots of water is a challenge. I can use that water for drinking etc if I use less on dishes. Great tip. Did the heating water on stove trick. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Hi Duke. Are you still camping? Seems like I was born with outdoors in my blood. Maybe you too. When my friends stopped and took up TV I kept going and I am glad I did. Ha ha ha. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅

Hi Michael. Soap (your choice) a drop or two in a pan then i sprinkle the baking soda with a small shaker. I spray white vinegar with a spray bottle to disinfect. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweemsvideos

Best time to clean frying pans are right after you use them. Put water in the pan while it's still hot if it's real crusty put a lid on and boil for a minute then wipe out. Easy peasy no matter how much food is caked in it
Thank You April I will give it a try. This effort was for times water is in short supply! 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweemsvideos

Thank You Michael. I was grounded for a bit but will be heading out for more adventure shortly. =Cosmo
Love the tips! Water is precious when boondocking and we will be doing plenty of that this winter!

Thanks Ben. I own every Noah tarp and many MSR wings.. I love them and use them often. The rigid free standing shelters have the advantage of a smaller footprint with no guy ropes in cal weather. While camping on the beach in October it was far too windy for a rigid structure but the MSR Wing did fine in 47MPH winds. But the guy ropes take up a lot of space in confined campsites. Either way I love them both and use them all the time. I have a number of different steaks and for firm dirt the MSR spiral steak is the best I have found (not sure or the actual name) but it really holds well. I also carry larger steaks for sand etc. I carry about 20 extra steaks above what I need - just in case I need to double up on steaks in heavy wind. I find the MSR Rondevus a better choice over Noahs tarp . It has more usable space for me. But I still use Noahs too Nice to have so many good choices. Awesome Cosmo
Nice video and interesting discussion! (and that's quite a fancy fry pan for camping IMO) Your trailer looks spotless! Have to admit though that we're in the "use a lot of paper towels" group and as a result we have lots of trash taking up room in the car when we boondock (usually there's no trash dumpster). It's challenging to want to pause and wipe down the pot when the food is hot and ready to eat!
I use the store grocery bags - plastic. You can sneak those into gas station cans without a fracas big bags cause. Trailer was filthy (upper Peninsula of Michigan). A filthy trailer is a trailer that is having fun! I like a thick bottom (pan of course) it heats more evenly especially when the trailer is on uneven ground - all the liquid goes to one side. Thick bottom (pan) heats more evenly for me. Enjoy we are heading into prime camping season. Im looking forward to more of your videos and tips. we love to camp but you bring up a good point and when you cook and the camp pan is hot you need to clean it in my opion directly right after cooking, while its hot and your serving leave the burner on for 2 mins a 1/4 cup of water let it steam then after you eat the water is hot..

Another suggestion, use a white sprayer bottle for water!
Just what I was looking for. The fact that dawn wasn't cutting the grease may be a blessing in disguise. It would take more water to rinse the the soap off.
give it a try an d experiment. This was my best discovery this summer. Enjoy Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems?sub_

Great job Cosmo, where ya at? I hear the traffic , but it’s a great view! Great method , saves lots of water and hey, add salt to baking powder, helps the scrubber loosen the crud, ...rollingrob out!
Rob I was just uploading video for you - see if you can get to this link its unpublished. ruclips.net/video/RLF2qD6YE-E/видео.html
Cosmo Weems it would not come up, says error loading, not available ?? Thanks
Please try again ruclips.net/video/RLF2qD6YE-E/видео.html
Cosmo Weems I’m so ticked at myself because I lost a video on one of these rigs!!! I actually reached out and talked to one of the owners but I can’t find the vid! I know i saved it to faves but can’t find to no avail! The owner said he could modify anyway I like but I had not pursued only because it was heavier, bulkier, etc, can’t really put it in my garage but concept is fabulous! Ingenious , just roll out and drop, how great is that. This is another I saved but not the folks I talked to... ruclips.net/video/fZZU2hYh4fA/видео.html. thank you bud, I’m going to see if I can’t maybe pay a visit and explore options ? By the way just cane back from visiting Bert and then drove rental car across 4 states to Elkhart IN, RV capital of the world, got invited to tour Intech RV and meet with owners! Going to try to put a few clips together on my journey, please check it my last video last night on the car rental on this last test! And like and subscribe vid please!
OK. The ice fishing trailers are popular up north MN and MI and other cold great lake regions. They have some small ,models which might meet your needs. Good Luck on your search. =Cosmo
Great video. Just a tip...If you have access to a stove, you could just fill the bottom of the pan with water, boil it and then put some dawn in the pot, scrub and rinse. May save ya some time. Thanks for sharing
I will give it a try. I am always looking for new ides. Thank You Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweemsvideos SUBSCRIBE ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems
Point of video was to reduce water use. I lus where you going to dump dirty water?
I use sand and a little water to scrub the stuck on crud. Rinse it, then heat up the pan on the fire/camp stove to disinfect it.

Great idea
Thank you! 😊
Always the best info!
Thanks K
Great video & ideas. Thank you. To augment on your idea of baking soda .... salt added together with essential oils that are antibacterial-antiviral, antifungal...I add these to my environmentally friendly dish soap as well. I thought for van living the fewer containers the better, hence adding a few items together since you are combining in the pan anyway. The two dish soap I use (since not all are equal) are Biokleen & ECOS, both are plant-based. Better for your health & the health of the planet. :) Happy trails!!
Excellent Jennifer. Thank You So much. I will continue to experiment and combine. I like your ideas. Its wonderful to find alternatives to the planet wrecking commercial products. =Cosmo Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems?sub_confirmation=1
Use a rubber scraper to remove all food and wipe with a paper towel if needed. You use to much soap. Try putting a couple of drops of camp soap in a spray bottle of water. If you want to use a small amount vinegar before rinsing what it really does is help release soap from plastic. Then rinse. You will use less water. If you are using baking soda there is no need for the scrub pad. Get rid of the sponge they harbor germs.
Thanks Denise! I am always interested in tuning up my dish washing system. This is an ongoing process! I will put your ideas to the test next trip. = Cosmo Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems?sub_confirmation=1

what is the brand of the tall pot with the pour spout on it? didn't see it in the amazon store..
SUBSCRIBE and see my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems It is made by KRONA you can fond them on Amazon. Not sure what size I have. I did SUBSCRIBE and watched almost every video, just missed it or have not watch that video yet..
Thanks Sparky, One note about that pot. Since it does not have a wide bottom it does not absorb heat as quickly as my larger pots. That means it takes longer to heat water in it when its full especially. But I still like the pot and use it every trip. =Cosmo

Is there a reason you don't use Dr. Bronner's Castile Peppermint liquid soap for camping? I use it for so much at home to clean lots of things that other commercial cleaners don't touch. Dr. Bronner's soaps are vegetable based and biodegradable.
I love the doctors soap. I am using up the Dawn detergent at home and on the road. I initially started with Dawn because of its reputation to clean grease. They use it to clean oil soaked ducks in oil spills. I am going to switch to Bonner. Maybe have a nip in my morning tea for good health ha ha ha, Baking Soda is good stuff give it a try if grease is your problem. Thanks for your comments
true, but for outdoor use, we should really be using a biodegradable soap.
You are correct I will switch ASAP. Thank You! See my other videos at ruclips.net/user/CosmoWeems SUBSCRIBE
I'm using way too much water..I throw out about a smallish salad bowl of water daily
Ha We all have our needs. This video was humerus since I was camping on the shores of lake Superior - the largest fresh water lake in North America! But the idea for me is the less water I use the longer I can go without re-supply. =Cosmo
I get my water from a spring in town but in winter especially I will want to use less water as I will have to store it in the trailer to keep from freezing.
Hi Cosmo, great video. Where did you find the little shaker for the baking soda? Thanks
They are shaker caps that snap on to 35mm film cans. Sorry no longer available. Hopefully you can find a substitute. Thank You Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweemsvideos SUBSCRIBE ruclips.net/user/cosmoweems
Try denture cleaner tablets
Thanks Connie. But I have no other use for them... I can use Baking Soda which is dirt cheap for many other things besides the dishes. Please keep the ideas coming. =Cosmo
Cosmo Weems those tablets come in handy for cleaning things, I dont have dentures either.i also use baking soda on dishes
Shucks I have always wanted to experience a denture wearer,.. Ha ha ha From Better Homes and Gardens www.bhg.com.au/does-vinegar-really-kill-germs Baking soda tops!
I see a lot of people using vinegar as a disinfectant, while it's OK at the job of cleaning remember that it needs to sit on what you are trying to disinfect for a while to work, also baking soda will neutralize the acidity of it so making it less effective. Vinegar doesn't kill germs like as well as an actual disinfectant so things like staff etc can survive it just fine, but for cleaning things like this it's perfect. It's when I see people clean up raw chicken juice with a spray of dilute vinegar I worry.
