Its an Inefficient mass building exercise. Building mass should be his goal. Sports specific exercises are great for athletes who need to get better at a specific movement. However this doesnt help the actor look like a fighter better in the movie

What makes it better for me though is Swayze's character had this energy and enthusiasm. Triceps, chest on one side, biceps and back on the other. He then could do the same on the other side, but he will be fatigued after training the back and biceps. This excersise is complete hollywood nonsense. If Jake does this, he deserves a slap on the cheeks. Which cheeks is up to the slapper to decide

People are just being overly dramatic.

I'm almost 50 and I know you have to use your body in different ways to help stay injury free. Not just movements with the same patterns like chest press or curls.
Not dangerous just a waste of time. What are you too good to do a normal dumbbell press? All this does it turn the body to not stretch the chest, which dilutes any work that could almost be done by this exercise. Your limiting factor would be how long you can hold yourself up, not your pecs
Men’s health isn’t doing their job unless they show Hollywood stars doing some of the LEAST useful training methodologies possible. Just to be clear for folks who are new to the game, this is not effective for cardio, nor strength training. Don’t ever do this.
