      The recordings from the black boxes do not indicate that there was any pressure, they literally told the pilots that the president did not insist on landing at this airport. In the same recordings, you can hear the captain giving the go-around command at an altitude of 100 meters, but for some reason it did not happen. The theory about pressure on pilots was and is convenient for many, especially for Russia, which does not want to admit obvious negligence on its side.

  • @Jekalmat
    @Jekalmat Год назад +91

    It's easy to blame the pilots, but here the crew was under immense stress from their superiors onboard. The captain and first officer's decision making may have also been affected by knowledge of a 2008 flight incident when the President of Poland ordered a change in destination right before departure and again while airborne. Lacking charts or a flight plan for the new destination, the captain of that flight had decided he could not bring the aircraft to the new destination safely. Disobeying the President and a high-ranking Polish Air Force commander on board, the captain flew on to the originally planned destination. He was never assigned to fly the president again. It must also be noted that the captain and first officer of this ill fated flight were the first officer and navigator, respectively, on that flight.
    Ironically, the more experienced captain involved in the 2008 incident flew the Polish Prime Minister to Smolensk safely on 7 April (without the President on board), but he was removed from the crew of the 10 April flight which carried the President. Knowledge of the 2008 incident and its repercussions may have weighed on this crew, potentially placing additional pressure on them to complete their flight to the original destination amidst all the odds. May they all rest in peace🙏🏻

    Funny… that american investigqtors have access to the black box… but Poland still doen’t receive it back and no wreck either! I remember that shortly after the accident there was a video of a Russian teenager showing the short video’s showing the airplanes landing that morning. He has been filming the Polish planeas it was different - white with red! The sky was absolutely blue! There were lots of unclear details untill now not solved. Lots of people have died afterwards stating it was an accident. The procesure has not been followed - splitting the important politicians into 2 different planes and flying them mixed with the church officials, journalists. Now the politicians were put on 1 plane! I had to think about the JFK „accident” where the procedures were not followe either. Andas we know it wasn’t by chance. I guess we will never know how it all went! But I am sure that the pilots were well trained and skilled and would never risk their lives even foe the president!

    You need to know how the TAWS system works. Smolensk airport has been in the taws system since 2006, but the plane's database was last updated in September 2002. Therefore, this airport was NOT in the taws system on board the plane. The system did not know that they were landing, and thought they were simply descending. That's why he warned the earth against them. He would behave in the same way when landing in good weather at any airport if we hadn't informed him that we were landing. The pilots didn't behave perfectly here, but let's note that they ignored taws messages correctly.
    It is weak that the publishers of the film, who should know about aviation and air disasters, manipulate the recipient in such a simple way. They use the Russian version, which is always manipulated and in which they always try to deny their guilt. A serious program presents a situation to give Karens something to talk about... that the pilots were so stupid and crashed the plane.
    I watch it often and now I wonder how many mistakes they made in other episodes because I didn't know as much about a given disaster as I did about this one.

      I watched the full episode of this crash a couple days ago and in it they go further in depth about the TAWS system and how Smolensk wasn’t part of the plane’s database. They just didn’t have enough time to talk about it in this short video.
