- January 25, 2010: the captain of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 409 is struggling to correct a problem with the plane’s unusually steep turn. In desperation, he veers the plane to the left, towards a nearby thunderstorm.

Why do they make planes go at a deadly nosedive all the way down? Can’t they just do a safer -2000 VS angle? They could still regain speed by doing -2000 VS and it wouldn’t be so deadly.

@@DMVRailfan they had spiralled out of control and in the black box recordings, they had tried to counter-rotate but it failed, they also tried to pull up but because of the spin they went up then back down, there was no saving that plane after it had rotated over 90°

fun fact : my cousin was on the flight before the crash. He told me he didn't feel anything wrong with the plane. He slept and when he woke up people told him that the plane he landed with crashed. Most be a weird feeling knowing that you was one of the last person being on a plane that crashed

Cause: After 2 months of flying non stop, both pilots were terribly exhausted. On their stop to beirut they had a chance to take a break but instead they eat a meal at the airport. Due to the meal they couldnt sleep till the flight began and they were commenting odd stuff and as they took off well they flew like a bird that lost its feathers.

No, it was not a dangerous turn that made the plane crash. It was most likely sabotage, an explosion. The fact that the Lebanese officials rushed to blame the pilot immediately after the accident says a lot. Look at the Wikipedia article of flight 409.
It was unsubtle incapacitation due to exhaustion which caused the stall

Air Traffic Control was the one at fault because he had to *FORCE* the Pilots to turn even though he knew something was wrong.

They didn't tell him something was wrong the captin made wrong decsion and most of the plane crashes are due to pilot error
All I really want to say at this point is God rest their souls and heal the grief of their families.

They shot that plan down. That is what happened. My sister was on that plan.President of Lebanon ordered the death of all the passengers aboard to take a revenge of two terrorist who blew up his father in a car 2 years prior to this incident. TPLF took money to cover-up what happened.

@@prophetgoldy that’s true. But it doesn’t imply flying is safer. Why? Because there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more people in cars than in planes. So car accidents happening more often is a matter of course. Only if we had the same amount of travelers, could we compare it confidently. Then both means of transport would be almost exactly the same concerning probability of death per time unit.
So the video is brief without explaining the cause. Where is the complete version..🤷🏻

That's why I fly only with reliable airlines where pilots are highly professional. Recently I flew with Air France and when it was approaching Toronto It felt that like plane banked too much. Luckly it was corrected.

Ethiopian airlines is the 2nd oldest airline in Africa, behind colonial South Africa at the time.
Plus, the current improvements of the Ethiopian airlines are undeniable, making them rank as one of the best worldwide and the best in Africa.

@@naheem I remeber a news report in Ethiopia quoting an Ethiopian security service report that stated the plane was sabotaged. This was supported by the fact there is no report of the actual investigation was published. neither an official report from Lebanese aviation authority, at far as I remember.
The fact that an experienced captain had no idea why a right turn produced such a dangerous bank angle also supports that theory. They’d have been safer flying through the thunderstorm and then making left hand turns back to the airport.

Then the airline will need to admit to themselves that they need to do IQ Tests on potential candidates first. Most of my special need students think they can become commercial airline pilots with little effort…

Ethiopian airlines is one of the best on earth, certainly the best in Africa. Ranks above Norway, China, Arab countries except Qatar and UAE, better than united.
