    I have this razor and indeed is too light...
    So all I did was drilling the inside and put a metal part of a spearfishing spear(shaft) in it and it became 30 grams as the original Sensor excel from the past. A lot better control now.

    My dad used the old version of these with the steel handle. I never thought of ever trying them until now😜

      @GeekOfShaves  3 года назад +1

      If you still have the steel handle, I would recommend trying that.
      Viewers do give good suggestions very often.

    Awesome review..liked the special effects too ! Glad you buckled down and tried it..i own 4 from the great 80's, and love them. Fyi, they use these razors on movies sets and tv shows/ talk shows in Hollywood. ( because they dont cut) 100% SAFE!would love to see a head shave with this razor..thats one thing i never done with it.i always use a Gillette fusion proglide for head shave.

      I can tell you that they offer a fantastic and smooth head shave without any irritations. Much better than Mach 3 and I have to admit, even smoother than using an safety razor for the head. But I guess that my technique is still lacking in that matter.

    Great review, as ever! I just hope Gillette bring back the proper "old school 90s" metal handles...the plastic ones are far too lightweight. 👍

    I have a Gillette Sensor razor I bought in 1992, I only stopped using it around 4 years ago when it became difficult to buy the blades, you could get Sensor Excel blades, but I wasn't paying an extra pound a packet for useless rubber microfins that do nothing. (The standard Sensors were £9.99 for ten the Excel with the Microfin gimmick were £10.99)

    Hey hey now! Ain’t that a thing! I mean the last thing I think you’d want to do is buy them from the place I did…150$…. But I wanted a metal
    Handle FYI i find the sensor 3 to be rubbish… I keep cutting myself, the 2 blade mind you is brilliant, it just plowed through everything , I usually get a month out of it easy

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  3 года назад

      I will try and keep an open mind ready for the 3 blade.
      Yes a better / heavier / more robust handle would make it better in my oppinion. Still it's a great shave if you can get it.

    I remember using them back in late 80s early 90s. Used a can of Barbasol, Aqua Velva aftershave and I was good to go.

    A few days ago I tried a cheap 2 blade razor from a Dutch pharmacy/chemist that they sell under their own brand. They cost a little under 5 euros and that is for a handle with 25 cartridges, Aldi also sells them over here under a different brand but with 20 cartridges. They’re made in Vietnam and look a lot like the original Sensor and they shave pretty damn well for me. I’ve come to the conclusion that everything with more than 2 blades is a no go and that cheap razors can be just as good as the expensive ones. I’ve no clue about the longevity of them because at that price I just won’t bother risking irritation.

  • @alexgeld7173

    The three blades are shit, mate! However, the two blade cartridges are amazing 😃

  • @tomwright5822

    Decent review, the disposable sensors can be removed from the handle and used on the one you have. I don’t know why Gillette are currently redesigning the fusion pro glide and by redesigned they just changed the colour, very pointless in my opinion

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  3 года назад +1

      Oh, you mean the HYPEBEAST limited edition. The one that is all black and comes with a magnetic stand. Yeah I must admit, I am not sure why they thing an all black razor will be worth so much more without some technological improvement.

    @rogermayfield7635 3 года назад

    Thanks for that. Been using the old version for years and still like the lightness and compact head. You can see exactly what you're doing. (The vid was back to front on my phone ??) Rog :)

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  3 года назад

      That is my fault. I recorded it on my phone in selfie mode and during editing I have clearly forgot to flip the image. Until recently all my videos have been back to front as I would literally just record and upload lol Good spot though.
      For anyone who thinks they can not do videos, its the editing that sucks the fun out, so my suggestion is to just film and upload all from your phone.
      My rule in business is its better to have something out there imperfect than try to get something perfect that never ends up getting out there. Some of my colleagues struggle with this, but then I actually get stuff done and progress and they stagnate. Not everyone will notice the flaws, and those that do can often be converted into a sale as they feel superior and you thank them for pointing out the flaw (simple flattery strokes everyone's ego).
      Clearly I have no issue in showing I am human, make mistakes and can even make fun of myself for doing it, others would have to redo the whole video and buy a new razor.
      Keep safe and thanks for the comments.

      @@GeekOfShaves cheers for that, and a good philosophy. When I was working in design I would sometimes say to our very demanding sales team who wanted a presentation with all the bells and whistles, "do you want it good or do you want it Friday! "

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  3 года назад +1

      @@rogermayfield7635
      That implies that by Friday the quality would not be that good.
      The salesman in me would be.
      Using a football analogy, do you want a tap in within the 90 minutes, or would you prefer a spectacular overhead kick after the whistle has blown.
      Or
      Do you want first mover advantage, or do you want to TRY to dethrone the encombant with their inertia who beat you to it?

    Which one is better this or the mach 3?

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  2 года назад +2

      I used to love the Mach 3 and it was the only razor for me, but something seems to have changed on it . This is good and has a bit of a cult following, the 2 blade sensor is much better than the 3 blade in my opinion.

    Hello sir I'm from india. I'm 16 but still I have some beards which i don't like and my dermatologist suggested me shave my beards using gillete sensor excel. As you said this is a vintage and expensive razor so do i have options of modern razor with same or better quality to get baby smooth shave?
