The hangar with the "RAF Coltishall" name and SQN Emblems was ASF (Aircraft Servicing Flight). I worked in there 1981-1983 and spent many an hour on the "Detuner". The special brakes were designed to hold the Aircraft (Normally a Jaguar!) in place during high power engine runs.. Dave "Spike" Howard.
Thanks for the video, I was station at Coltishall in the early 1970's, the control tower has been sealed of due to asbestos risk. The external engine test unit is a detuner which allows for ground testing and reduces the noise level locally. The detuner is the only one remaining so is of some historic interest.
So what would the roll be in there for the RAF and with the pool it's very interesting. Shouldn't you be wearing propper clothing considering its aspestos just confused as I thought aspestos was bad I know you can't see it but surely it is bad for breathing forgive me if I'm wrong .but I bet it was a much loved quarters at 1 point
Served here at Colt. 1972 to 1974. Many happy memories

I work in one of the hangars cool to see all this stuff. I'd love to get on the control tower one day
The "brake place" is called a detuner. It is for testing jet engines and I was responsible for ordering all their spares in 2003-4.
