- This is based off of a solo titled Dreaming of Brazil that Tommy Igoe played on his solo record "New Ground," with playing over the samba foot ostinato added.
This is the last of the three videos I used to be chosen as one of four winners of the 2013 VSA International Young Soloist Competition. Of the three, this one I'm most content with.
I'm from Brazil. His batucada was very good, very cool. Excellent, very authentic, with jazz nuances and plenty of swing.
Este sólo es el que estaba buscando, es el mejor que he escuchado 😃😃😃😃😃
This is such the perfect batucada rhythm on drums I’ve been wanting to hear, hope to see more content in the future, keep it up! 🤙
Digging this immensely you have a second line grooving and that bass drum is so mellow your use of dynamics has me happy thank you
SAMBA RHYTHM RULES ............................................................
I love this very cool
Those drums sound amazing great playing
Thank you!
I think you should know that I come to this video, from time to time, just to get my juices flowing when I feel stagnant. Thank you for that privilege. I like your chops. ^_^
Excellent!
Beatiful !!!
Amazing!
As a drummer studying Tommy Igoe's Grove Essential book, this was an awesome performance. Well done Paul.
Wow it is so good!
Magnifique
Bravissimo
Holy fuck my friend. You are a beast! Awesome performance with an incorporated smile and feeling! Loved it dude, really cool. Cheers from Spain.
On 0:30, you dont hit the 4th sixteenth on beats 1 and 3 do you? Like: 1. K-Hh 2. K-HhK 3. K-Hh 4.K-HhK
Im studying samba now and I got taught the regular ostinato or basic ostinato, the same that you're playing on 1:00, adding the floor tom on 2 and 4.
This is why I'm asking, because during the first part of your solo you're using a different ostinato (I think) and it gives a cool feel since it's not the same figure played on every beat over and over again all the time.
Come on man! That's not a mistake. When something sounds good and it gives you good vibes, you can't call it mistake. No way. It was a pleasure to see a nice samba performance as a student. I hope to hear more about you here on youtube, upload more stuff. Take care and thx for the reply. Stay strong!
whew - nice man. that disconnected timeline stuff in the middle.. interpolated quantizing. you got the lfo now
This is nice!
Nice man!
in some parts in sounds more like an Argentinian batucada, nice! :)
wow mad probs
How do you do this? You must be some kind of sorcerer.
