- Another week, another rant! Last week i was thinking about moving out, this week I was looking into loans for law school lol.... In this video, I share more about my thoughts on potentially moving out in this current economy, how my older sister and I are coping with how different things are than they were for our parents, and talk about the value of how precious time is when not within the scope of a 40-hour work week, even down to shopping for groceries.

I'm a Turkish guy and here in Turkey it's the normal to live with your parents until very late twenties. If you're helping with bills and groceries, that can be extended into mid thirties even. And from what I've read, it's similar in most countries in Europe. Leave and live on your own at 18 is some USA thing.
Growing up in the 60s and 70s, it was common for female to stay at home however long or until they married. Males left between 21-25, usually due to marriage but also to feel free to drink and entertain females. Families did not allow adult male or female children to have sleepovers. There were multiple reasons why this was the case; money and culture mostly. Laws changed requiring landlords to rent to people they would not have considered previously was a big part of it.
We plan on having our daughter in the house at least until she's out of university and on with her career, she's 20 now so it'll be at least until 25 , I can't understand the pressure to move out when they aren't ready yet ,that's a high chance of struggle for life later
Agree! They’ve socially programmed the people to kick out their kids at 18-so they can go to college and they don’t even know what the heck they want to study!
Same thing with the elderly! It’s such a shame because they’ve destroyed the family unit!
i moved out at 17 from an abusive home, working at night at a luxury hotel cleaning rooms for years during my university years to be able to afford this. BTW, one of the great perks of this chambermaid job was I could eat for almost free in the hotel canteen, and the food was really delicious (the same the guests got in the main hotel restaurant!).
And I lived in my own appartement ever since. I cannot imagine living with parents well into your 20s, even it s not an abusive home...
I’m on my late 30s and live with parents whole life except when at university
I’m saving to buy a home. Also debt free now with excellent credit
The most advantageous is to stay at home if you're comfortable there. There are so many multigenerational (even multi-family) homes that do very well. 😊 Good video 💯
In theory at least, long term roommate situations are imitation family systems. Sadly that includes both the good and the bad when it comes to family systems.
My DRT Theory Best also.
I grew up as a kid with both parents and grandparents all living together in a single family home this was the 1960s and 70s people today find that strange, both parents worked, grandparents worked until sickness grandfather died of cancer, 1973 grandmother went on disability rheumatoid arthritis 1980 passed in 1993 of cancer all worked low paying jobs without coming together they would have been in financial trouble back then even
My sister just moved back in with our parents. She is 39.
It’s a privilege to be able to live at home with your parents. Stay as long as you need to because it’s rough out here.😀
Just crunching the numbers alone. It’s literally not possible. I will stay at home AS LONG as I can.
These are such hard times for sure. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay with parents while working- saving up so I can move abroad to Spain and teach. Couldn't be happier! Cost of living is so low, and 15hr work weeks are the best. All the best to you!
They are pricing us out of life. Prepare as best you can. Being aware is the first step to being prepared
We do live in scary times, that's for sure. Your positivity and good vibes are definitely a breath of fresh air 😊
Indeed so it is.
It’s become way less affordable to live in the last 10 years. A townhouse I once co-owned doubled in price. For lower paying jobs you need multiple incomes to stay afloat. Nothing wrong with living with parents for a while, I left at 28. Much smarter than running up huge credit card and personal loan debt.
I can't believe you weren't even born when Titanic came out. I remember that being one of the loveliest eras of American history, just before the world started to collapse after 9/11.
Just another week of working to be broke.
Your feelings are 100% valid. We are all struggling. There is absolutely no shame in living at home. I moved out at 23, it was in the year 2000. It would not be possible today. Young people have it sooooo much tougher than my generation (X) had it.
It isn't I'm 23 and stuck at home
Not all are struggling....some are millionaires & billionaires but many including myself are...am grateful that my rent is paid & got food & coffee & electricity bill is paid...
Many people are having to live with family members. Some of our aging parents are at risk of losing their homes because property taxes depending on location are becoming unaffordable as well.
I got married at 24 and had our son 13 days later we lived in an apartment for one year. This was back in 2009. We moved in with my parents because we couldn’t afford to keep our apartment on my Husband’s salary. We stayed with my parents for seven years until my husband was able to make enough to support the three of us, so living with your parents until you can get a good foundation is a good thing.
Yay we are all broke!! ❤ 😢
😂 It's bad all over, and if you find a good place you'd be better off keeping it to yourself. 😂 As my aunt says " Cheer up it's going to be awful!" 😂 Peace.
If I would have stayed st home a few more years it would have made a huge effect on my ability to buy a home.
Im 23 and live at home i love my mother but im definitely ready to live my own life and have complete privacy
If you’re really trying to slash your grocery budget, you could make the drive to Aldi or Walmart buying a month worth of main groceries to make the gas cost worthwhile. Then stop at Target every 1-2 weeks for a small amount of fresh items. Good luck!
Target food is fresh, but also ultra expensive.
I agree! I only mentioned that because she said Target was close to her job but I could be wrong.
I disagree with shopping once a month I think in order to get the deals you need to shop weekly but I also don't shop Walmart or Aldi
I worked at a grocery store for 23 years. I lived with the parents since forever. I got out of the store about halfway through the pandemic. Still glad I did. But after leave my current job who knows. But who knows about the future.
We’re in a whole new paradigm… generational living has been a thing for ever in other countries… it’s what families do when times are tough.
This current administration is bringing this country to its knees.
Could not agree more! It's crazy that other countries welcome generational living and here it's cliche. It's truly sad to watch.
You can save a ton of money shopping cheaper NOT just a couple of bucks!! A gallon or 2 of gas is nothing compared to what you can save.Where I live Aldi is cheapest.
As long as you're building yourself up saving and or studying there is no problem living at home.
I moved out and put a 70% deposit on an apartment. Paid it off in 3 years.
Life is good when housing is almost free
Honestly goals!
Would love to see your spreadsheet.
Good video. I’m single and would love to live on my own. No can do…
Love 💕 and light to all ❤ 😊 ----~~~~~~~~~>
Three things we can’t do here at home:
Show that you are poor.
Tell the truth.
You are not allowed to get old.
😊❤❤💞😊great video sweetheart..you are special 👍
❤️❤️
I go to Trader Joe’s and get a lot of groceries for 55.00… keeps me for 6 days no problem… maybe your shopping at the wrong store…
There’s not a Trader Joe’s around me, unfortunately.
@@SarahLouisePickett Aldi?
Our world is considerably worse compared to previous generations. Inflation is far too high!
Indeed ! Am a millennial and financially struggling but grateful that my rent & electricity bills are paid & got food & coffee.
what´s the benefit of living alone? pay a lot of money to be alone? or have a roomie... so you don´t even have your own floor
I appreciate your perspective! Living alone definitely comes with a price, but for some people, the benefits of having their own space and independence outweigh the financial aspect.
Just stay at home. I’m fixing to sell my house and buy something cash.
I missed the early 2000s. I could cook 3 whole meals a day if I wanted to for cheap.
A whole cart of a months worth of food was no more than 150.00.
Keep voting, dem, and keep suffering. Lose your tribalism and actually open your eyes. We wont survive another term under this administration.
If it makes you feel any better, I did NOT vote for this.
1 can always join military for job training, shelter n food provided.
With great health care.
Yes, however....even they are having a tough time recruiting… due to current administration and the mandates they forced upon the military back in 2020.
Women can risk it moving out of their parents. For guys stay at ur parents till ur stable.
This is an interesting take. Can you explain more?
Your cute and smart..love your video ❤❤❤
Thank you sweetheart 😊😊💞
😇💞💞💞🥰
It takes a village
You're dope AF I can't wait for this channel to blow up!
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
I’m still stuck on you saying you’re 25 years old. 🤨 No way 😒 Girl, you look 40 😳
well, thanks lol. I am actually 24...I have always been told that my demeanor is more mature than most people my age.
I’m actually 40 and thought she was closer to my age.
Strong independent women.?? Meet economic rescission!. But unlike the great rescission were men and women worked together to survive..??But this Gen of women chose feminism.! Now in Australia we have a supposed national crisis of a projected 1.5 million women to be unemployed and homeless within the next 3-5yrs .The government is trying to come up with incentives for business or men to help. So far no one has offered.
Either live at home and save money or buy a small house. You can do it. Think like an adult.
These are real issues in current day 2023. Why would she move out and buy a house paying 8% interest rate? The problem is that many employers are paying barely over the cost of living and the cost of living has skyrocketed, so has the housing market. The houses have not actually increased in size or function. I think she is doing pretty well being a young adult.
Joe says everything is fine, so I don't understand these videos. Someone is lying.
Are you serious?!
Voting has consequences…welcome to Bidenomics. Trump 2024 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It’s hilarious that you think trump is the answer when he added 4 trillion to our deficit 🤣 just genius
Geez , talk about rambling off topic.
I’m still stuck on you saying you’re 25 years old. 🤨 No way 😒 Girl, you look 40 😳
