    That is a beautiful representation of the First Blood knife

  • @SoldierDrew

    Is the handle hollow?
    How is the tang fixed to the handle?
    It's a beautiful knife but the aesthetic saw teeth are useless so to make the blade more functional the toothy spine should be replaced with a 90% spine for scraping wood & striking fero rods.

    Back in the 80’s I was gifted both Rambo 1 & 2 novelty knives. Not wanting to damage them I went looking for a user blade and ended up with a late 80’s Cold Steel Trail Master that fit my Rambo 2 sheath. On my 3rd Trail Master. Still have all the original knives I started with. Chris Reeves knives made a durable hollow handle blade. A Schrade makes similar Hollow handle blades from one piece of 1070HC steel. I have the smaller SCHF2SM and have absolutely abused it. I would compare it to the Gerber Strongarm...

    Should i get a 440c or D2 for Rambo first blood knlfe ? Do they differ in anyway like the weight, polish effect (shine) what should i do.

    • @woodsmankniveschannel4797
      @woodsmankniveschannel4797  2 года назад +2

      If you intend to use the knife then I would definitely recommend you go with D2 as that steel has better edge retention and is much more robust! But D2 is also a bit heavier than 440 but nothing that makes a big difference! My Greg wall mission knife is made of 440 steel and it doesn't shine as much as my Firstblood with D2! but all in all I would highly recommend you spend 50 bucks more on D2 steel! you don't want to regret it and are afraid that you will regret it in the long run if you don't

      Oh and by the way, if you go with D2 make sure to Oil it!! D2 will rust if its not gets Oil! I use WD40 its cheap and have never had a problem with rust on any of my D2 blades👍

The knife laws here in Denmark are crazy and it took me a loooong time to get my knife back from the police

    It's just a shame that it takes so long to get one. I'm at the 11 month mark waiting on mine, supposedly he's "getting close to being done", but he also said that after 6 months. Terrible communication from Mr Wall, so I sure hope the knife is worth the wait. He doesn't let you know that there's a lengthy wait until after you've paid him for the order, so to me that's a negative. On the plus side, his knives are still a great deal for the $.

    • @TheDarkStigmataVA
      @TheDarkStigmataVA 2 года назад

      Its understandable, pretty sure Greg Wall has plenty of orders to go through, considering his knives are in the $500-$600 dollar price range, alot of people will jump at the chance to get one and that stockpile of orders can delay orders up to a year.
      Compared to Vaughn Neeley who currently makes The real LILE Kinves will usually get his orders done in a month (give or take) but the price is over $2000, so not that many people will order from him.
      So its a "pick your poison" scenario but paitience is the key.
      There is one rule you need to follow, when a knifemakers gives you an ETA, always expect the bladesmith to take longer than what they tell you.

    • @High_Caliber
      @High_Caliber Год назад

      @@TheDarkStigmataVA I know. I understand the demand, but he told me at the 2 month mark he was "almost done", then at the 6 month mark, again at the 11 month mark... I took a trip to the filming location for first blood, had planned to bring the knife along, but instead had to bring one of the collector's edition knives, which you know are just flimsy toys. I would just prefer he was straight up and honest about where he's at. If it's a year, it's a year, but he should say that.

      @@woodsmankniveschannel4797i feel bad to say it because i understand your excitement. I too am a massive First Blood knife fan. But just stick it in some wood and bend. Nothing crazy. Wall knives are the softest knives I ever owned. Tip didn't break, just easily bended. All three were bad, I sent each one back. I cant imagine yours will be any better but ill be interested to see. If you want a true hard use Rambo style knife go with one from Sam Wilson, Andy Wood, Vaughn Neeley, Jimmy Lile. I'm sorry to say that Greg Wall's are just over priced "wall hangers". But good luck. @@Skyfall-sv8df hi there, I have to ask if Greg refunded your money? See I recently ordered the Greg Wall Crain LSS1 and the Greg Wall First Blood. I received the LSS1 and I was severely disappointed with how it turned out so I sent it back. The lines on the blade were not symmetrical nor like the original Crain LSS1, handle was too short and the sheath wasn’t the Commando style like I requested to Greg. While I haven’t received the First Blood knife yet I am feeling concerned with how the quality is going to be. I will say Stefan’s Greg Wall First Blood knife here looks fantastic but at this point I feel like I have lost confidence from what I saw with the LSS1 knife.

    • @Skyfall-sv8df
      @Skyfall-sv8df Год назад +1

      @Epic everything Productions yes I did, but it took some effort. When it was all said and done, I had three of his knives. Two First Blood style knives and a Randall style knife. My "first" First Blood had the most horrible done saw teeth. Greg Wall should have been embarrassed to have his name on it, let alone send to a customer. I'm not exaggerating. They were really that bad. I have pictures. I tried to be decent about it but told him I needed a replacement. He didn't want to, but he did send a replacement after I sent the original back. The replacement looked okay but not great. I actually used it but quickly found it to be really soft. The tip bent very easily. Once I discovered that, I was pissed. He made excuses we exchanged a few heated emails. Ultimately, i threatened to take action against him. So He promised to make it right. He then sent me the Randall style once I sent the "second" First Blood back. It was the nicest looking of the three but not perfect. But it too was very soft in the tip. After that, I told him I had lost ALL CONFIDENCE in his work and demanded a full refund. Once he got the third knife back, he gave me a refund. The whole ordeal spanned more then half a year. It was ridiculous. I think Greg has some skill, but I don't think he cares anymore what he sends his customers. His blades look nice in pictures, but what I received was a huge disappointment. I learned a lot after that. I know they are expensive, but do yourself a favor and buy from Andy Wood or Vaughn Neeley if you want a very high-quality first blood knife. Theirs look amazing!!! And their skills are far beyond Wall. Not even close. If you want something similar to a First Blood but not exact, then look at Sam Wilson. His blades are great as well. Or find an old Newt Martin MCE2 knife. They are awesome blades, too. All four of these makers make high-quality first-rate blades, and they take pride in their work. I would get a full refund from Wall if I were you. Good luck.

    22:00 "If you want to chop a tree all day long, you have to go with a full tang construction." Not really... Actually full tangs are sometimes hard on the hands, and usually make the knife quite handle heavy, unless the blade is really large like on a 27 cm blade Busse (11 inch). Busse have excellent handles despite the full tang design, not because of it (stick tangs are still better for a blade-heavy balance and isolating the hand from vibrations, which is why all Randalls are stick tangs). Busse are so thick at the edge they are in my view next to useless (almost like movie props really). What helps a knife chop all day is edge thinness, especially edge thinness combined with a hollow grind (which is what Randalls have, with excellent 0.020" BTE "Behind The Edge"), because a thin hollow grind hits "softer" and saves pain on the hand. The hand is the weak point when chopping all day. Hollow handles are actually very good at protecting the hand from pain, since the hand is isolated from vibrations and the handles are usually quite fat, but the wrapping cord should be fine cord, as coarse 550 cord can cause blisters. Ontario rubber handles are the best. The best hollow handle hand ergonomics I found was to have a fat 1 1/8" metal handle with light knurling and no cord. Only the bigger Colin Cox "Survivors" are made that way.
