  • Every day, we receive a flurry of questions from our type 1 diabetes (T1D) community about the coronavirus and what it means for those of us living with T1D. Throughout this pandemic, we will share the top questions we receive and responses from experts in the field.
We here at JDRF are not medical experts, but we do work with the nation’s top professionals in the field and are looking to them to help with your questions. Even so, these responses are not intended to be medical advice, for that-as always-you must consult your own personal physician.

Type 1 of 30 years..extremely brittle..yes this virus is a beast and as we all know our blood sugars do not stay perfect so I prepare for the worst and stay on guard that way at least I know I have given it my all! Peace & good health to all.😉

Been saying this all along...I just wish when they talk about t1d and carnonavirus that they'd explain this and not just put us all into one category its annoying...people who get complications from covid, may have diabetes. But they usually have other complications from diabetes, and not just the condition of t1d. That said again t1d are put into the same category as t2d who would generally be much older in life and have other organ complications, such as kidney disease, hypertension ete ete....

Thanks for sharing the information. I use the Ambrosia Blucon with Libre, It helps me to get constant glucose readings on my Apple Watch and iPhone, the alarms help me at night. It is a much more reliable and accurate cgm with a low cost. I loved!

I have type 1 and tested positive on the last wednesday in january. I definitely notice it. Fatigue/weakness, head and eyes hurt when I look side to side. Just Strange things. Glad I didn't get it 9 months ago my a1c's where 10.8 never had one higher than 7.4. Now it's at 7.0.

@@blackmist12345678 don't you have to be covid clear for 6 months after having testing covid positive before receiving a jab? so you got coronavirus in February and 3 months later your better from it back at work with elderly people and have received the jab??

Hi what happens for people with diabetes if they got coronavirus

    • @bradleycantrell4474

Please speak with your endocrinologist or family doctor but from what I understand if your blood sugars are exceedingly high and you cannot keep them at a normal level of say 90 to 140 most of the time your body is going to have a harder time fighting off the virus but from what I've seen it's different in everyone the symptoms may be the same but it affects people differently. I wish you the best of health and prayers with you as well!😷

Wear a surgical mask first and then perhaps a mask of your choice over that one and always stay away from others at least 6 to 8 feet. Be sure to carry sanitizer and I personally only get groceries when I absolutely must and go to doctors when I have to unless I do Telehealth and the post office and absolutely no where else unless it's to get gasoline. When almost 450,000 people have died from this illness just in the United States in 13 months... I only listen to those like dr. Anthony fauci and of course the doctors you have known throughout the years... I have had type 1 diabetes for 30 years now and I pray to live 30 more!
