This worked out GREAT. I did as told but also, I kept double checking and used my finger tips to rub the decal to the unit until everything was stuck properly to the unit. I will update this with photos tomorrow. Thank you all for your good work.
I think people are misunderstanding that you were showing the do's and don'ts. I found this video helpful and was able to apply a decal without issues following exactly as described
Don't put your tape hinge through a section of vinyl if it can be helped. You run the risk of leaving a line in the vinyl and, if you cut your backing paper away, you might get little bits of paper fibres on the vinyl adhesive which will show through as little bumps. Instead of cutting half the backing paper off, try folding it under.

Cheating using a horizonal surface. Totally different on a wall.
