- HD Series Bb Trumpet
Although I described this horn as a S32HD it is actually the larger bore S22HD
The new HD series of trumpets were developed to offer a darker core of sound with superior articulation clarity. Completely new design elements include a square shaped tuning slide bow and a re-designed mouthpipe taper and receiver. In addition to these features, the construction and design of the HD bell creates a solid, secure feel with incredible tonal depth. These new models are recommended for classical as well as jazz/commercial players alike.
I really love the way you playing the trumpet you are the best i love it
Thanks Victor,
This is one of Schilke best seller and now you know why.
This horn is the larger bore size and my favorite of the HD models. Thanks for your kind words. Stay tuned to The HornTrader!

Using the 3rd value for A over middle and double C. Nice trick, less resistance. Nice sounding horn!
Thanks Nebuwah!

They play very well intermediate ( student ) trumpets.
Now's the time to step up to a professional trumpet.
I have many used Schilke trumpets that are selling for a

@DavesTrumpet
It's always fun to get something new in the mail from Schilke.

I'm jealous :) great horn, beautiful sound!
@HornTrader ive been told they are an excellent mouthpiece and would be perfect for students such as myself
Hello Vexiia,
That is just a C minor Pentatonic jazz lick I just played off the cuff.
Happy New Year!
Steve
I love the lick from Four near the end there.
That's a really hard question to answer. Go to Mouthpiece Express and get a size comparison chart. Find the Schilke that is roughly the same size diameter as the piece you are currently playing.
Best,
Steve
Usually the MT Vernon Mpcs have a softer edge on the inside of the rim.
Could be wear or it could be the way they were made back them but everyone thinks they feel great on the chops!
Steve
Cool video! Thanks for sharing!
Man you sound like Maynard Ferguson! Amazing!
AH Shucks…………………… thanks
Steve
Hi Brendon,
You can purchase these Mpcs from my secure shopping cart on the HornTrader
website. Or just call me direct. I'd be happy to take your order. I have a student
who just purchased the prototype and is making incredible progress. It is no substitute for practice but it sure makes things easier.
Steve
I like these horns very much but if I were to recommend a good trumpet for both playing high and having a great warm sound it would be one of the Burbank horns I sell.
I especially like the Burbank 5*
Stay Tuned,
Steve
My HT 3CS 28 is a rim that was copied from a Mt Vernon 3C that belonged to Arturo Sandoval. Then the Cup was made a tad shallower (.017) but also a bit more room on the sides near the bottom of the cup. The bite is soft like a worn Mt V 3C The contour is more straight to the shallower cup .The Back bore has a 28 hole but is a straight taper #1 reamer. Medium tight with brilliance. I just settled on the contour of the blank. I should have my initial order of 2 dozen in by the end of this week.
I might have a Mt Vernon 2 1/2C in Gold Plate. I'd have to look for it, they aren't cheap.
Best,
Steve
@HornTrader Talked with a buddy of mine yesterday, he's a music dealer here in town. He just got one of the new Schilike flugelhorns and said it was killer!
Masterful playing, as in every one of your Videos....Please, could you adress / tell / the notes or name / term / of the wonderful colourful sounding jazz lick/ cadenza / you played at 3:22 - 3:35 ? With naming the notes that it consists of ? And do you recommend a certain book of such things like (you are using much in your videos) things for a beginning jazz player - things that call "jazz, jazz" ?Thanks in advance...
That depends on what diameter Mpc you play. I have a few Mt Vernon Bachs available.
Best,
Steve
@HornTrader Sorry man, nothing personal! Trent gave me such a great deal on a like new preowned one, I couldn't pass up an offer that killin. Either way you sound great on this and every other video I've heard. Best of luck to you, I hope you sell a ton of horns this holiday season!
Yo Big Daddy
I believe the Leadpipes are made of brass but the bells are made of different materials depending on the model trumpet you choose.

Hello HornTrader i have a question for you. What is your favorite Trumpet of all time's??????
Misty Hackler I like the Selmer Chorus 80J Unfortunately they are no longer made. I have a Schilke B3L that just came in that I’m in awe.
I like large bores with just a little resistance to blow against. Of course, tone is a huge factor.
Stay tuned to the HornTrader !
@sbvikings30
My "High Note" Mpc is a Copy of a Bach Mt Vernon 3C with a Zippy Curry #10 Backbore and a 28 drill
Yup
And the Bird just celebrated his 92nd birthday.

Catfish,
I play Bach or my own custom Mpc. I wouldn't even know where to buy a getzen elkhorn wisconsin much less what model would be right for me.
Thanks
Steve
I used to have a old Bach Stradivarius made in NY. I’m picking up trumpet again at 68. I found a new Getz 700S demo. Can’t wait to get it
Thanks for you kind words........

Since you seem like the Trumpet master.. i was wondering if you could give me advice on monette mouthpieces..i play on a schilke 14 mouthpiece and use a schilke B1 model
I have a Vincent Bach custom 3C mouthpiece copy that was played during the movie startrek movies
Thanks so much for such a great demo video of the new Schilke HD horns! I just ordered a like new S32HD from Austin Custom Brass and I'm really stoked to play it. My dad worked at Schilke for almost 30 years so I always knew I'd come back home to Schilke. I know it turned out that the horn in this video is actually an S22HD, would you say there's a huge difference in the blow between the two HD Bb models? I know there is only .003" difference in bore size between the two. Thanks so much!
@StealthxAssassin117
They are good Mouthpieces. Do you have a Monette Mpc dealer near you?
If not then you probably need to do a little more research on readily available Mpcs
such as Bach before you plunk down high dige on a Monette Just saying.
What diameter do you play say in a Bach or GR?
@StealthxAssassin117
What do you want to play and why Monette? they are very expensive.
The lead pipes are Nickle silver I believe, but the bell is gold brass. lol, just go one of them. But the bell is a bit bigger than your average Bb trumpet.
That was a Reeves C2J Mouthpiece with a 43.5 Rim.
Excellent,
Was that from Rick Baptist?
I laughed so hard at 4:31 where he goes OH YEAHH!!!
No Worries Mate!
Ya Buddy
You got that right!
Steve
Hey man great stuff I might even consider buying this trumpet brand off your cite
Also where can I get the mt Vernon mouthpiece?
You said this was a Schilke s32 hd in the video but in the title you said s22 hd, which one is it?
@sbvikings30
I have a great relationship with Schilke. I can get you what ever you want it just takes time and money.
Best ,
Steve
Poochie,
No Worries Brah!
I was just bustin yer chops........
Thanks for your kind words!
Steve
What is the song you played right when you put the jazz mouthpiece in ? i've heard people like adam rapa play it and some others
What classifies as a "High" mouthpiece? Currently using a 1C I'm happy with.
Man, it's insane to see how easy you get the high notes, impressive! Do or did you use any special exercise or do you you have any hints to get the high notes easier? In good days I get the E3 but it's not even close to your height.. Good clips by the way, like them 👍
Hello Stefan,
Get yourself the Colin Lip Flexibility Book start on the 1st page play that for a week. Once that feels good repeat tonguing. Once that feels good turn page and repeat…………….
I know that seems over simplified . Maybe you should take a quick Skype lesson with me and I can guide you through the details.

Hey Steve thanks for the great vids ,, Awesome stuff . Kind of a double question here ,, I am trying to find the best mouthpiece for me to get a 'fuller tone' , I am normally using a Bach 7c , but i like the Bach 6 better . how would i go about finding the one that fits me best? , ,,, And what was your jazz Mpc in this vid? . Thanks much , Ernie
Steve,
I've read (correctly or not) that the Schilke trumpets come with red brass leadpipes. True? False? What material? I am saving for the S22CHD. It, too, is my favorite HD.
Oi Friend não seria possível colocar legendas em espanhol ou português???

Hey bro would you reccomend this for a high schooler who is a great high note player cause my trumpet isnt cutting it
que bella trompeta cuanto vale
Why turn the trumpet towards the camera when you're testing the compression. I would like to know how you are doing that.
I do that so the viewer can hear the thunk of the compression. To make that sound extend the 3rd slide all the way and then depress the 3rd valve. Then let the valve come up and pull the slide back and then depress the 3rd valve ......... You should get a “thunk” sound if the compression is any good
@@HornTrader Thx!
What mouthpiece for high notes!
I used the HT3CS-28 Commercial Trumpet Mouthpiece on this video Here's the link: www.horntrader.com/mouthpieces/133-horntrader-ht-3cs-28.html
cual es la diferencia entre la schilke 14a 4a y la 14a 4?

What was the mouthpiece that you used at the end?

I also have a schilke S22HD and agree that it plays well. BUT I want everone in the world to know that the leadpipe is already rusting in less than a few months, no more value as a trade-in. Schilke has a LIFETIME garantee, unfortuatly its not worth the paper its written on. Both the importer in Germany and Schilke US have not come across on a repair. You can compare it to the VW scandal. It does play the high notes very well but as soon as I can I`ll go to a diffrent brand that I can trust, never again schilke
+George Hernandez How disappointing. What has the retailer said regarding your complaint? I had a similar issue with a King many years ago (though it took more than a few months). I now use a silk leadpipe swab after every playing session to keep the leadpipe dry.
+George Hernandez
I'm sure Schilke would repair it at their cost. Have you contacted Andrew Nauman @ Schilke? I have found him to be very fair.
BTW brass does not rust.
+Steven Uttley I never heard of a silk leadpipe swab but I`ll look it up in Amazon and order one if I find it. Thank You.
+HornTrader Thank You for your answer. I`ll drop him a line, I`m more disapointed in the the German importer, if nothing else I`ll take it back to him and try and trade it in on a Bach Artisien, too bad the price went up $1000. this last year. I should have gotten it last year.
George Hernandez Mine's made by Steiner. Other makes exist. Worth checking on ebay also. Keeping the leadpipe dry and clean is critical to the sound of any decent horn.
Sorry Buddy
