I’m so happy to finally get to show you guys this video/project. I feel so fortunate to be able to share my projects with so many people. I worked really hard on this one, so I hope you guys enjoy it! This project took a while to make and there are a lot of people that I have to thank for helping me along the way, first and foremost thank you to my client for giving me the opportunity to work with this beautiful wood and the chance to make something for them. Thank you to Dave for always letting me use the shop. Thank you to Mr. MacIntosh for letting me use some shop time at the high school. Thank you to Cam from Blacktail studio for having a free blog on how to make an epoxy table and just making banger tables/content all the time. Thank you to @foureyesfurniture for the inspiration on the overlayed shots with the domino and router. Thank you to my parents for supporting me. Thank you to my brother-in-laws for the tools and the helping hands.

Not nearly enough talking.
I don’t know how you do it, I don’t have that much to say 😂
Agreed....the human voice is special...it carries a vibration....it is part of what makes us unique as a species.....

Im a follower of Cam at Blacktail and im sure he got a kick out of this.

Thank you!! Happy to have you onboard
Why are you using someone else’s identity?.
That’s a very serious accusation

2. Tables look awesome! I appreciate the shout out. I hope to have videos as nice as yours some day. Just gotta keep at it.
Consistency!
Hahaha! That was a funny intro. Great job! Got yourself another subscriber 😊
Thank you! Happy to have you aboard!!!
This is like Blacktail Studios purchased from Temu.
I’ll take it

Not only are the tables art pieces, your choice of music is amazing.
Thank you my friend
I am only subscribing so you don’t end up homeless. Keep up the great work, my man.
Hahahaha well either way I’m happy to have you here!
omg, I just love your video, the music, the filming, the sound when you are working, such a great video! and I always forget what I want to say too when I am counting so I will just say NEXT haha
Wow this is so nice haha thank you!
Dude everything about this video was awesome. The classical music choices are top notch, the jokes and references were solid and weren’t overdone, the cinematography was stunning, the craftsmanship was impressive, and the end results were beautiful. Liked and subscribed, looking forward to your future projects!
Wow. Thank you! Happy to have you here!! Hope to see you in the comments on the next one!!
The soft music, asmr wood carving, 🎻 the beautiful end result that makes me envious of the people who can afford to have these pieces in their home. A home that is worthy of a piece like this.
I have yet to find that person! But I am envious as well haha

Dude you editing style is great, so calming compared to other creators with fast cuts and hectic music
I appreciate that!
HI MACK!! I heard youre a "cool dude", with only a tinge of skepticism.
I only clicked on this because I thought it was a blackmail studio original. No where near Cams quality, and it is rather sad that you're stealing his style, verbiage, and name. I don't usually comment on videos, but the lack of originality copy cats should be called out for their laziness.
I’m sorry that you feel that way Joe, but I didn’t blackmail anybody! The idea was more of a way to pay homage to Cam for all the good content and ways he has for us to learn what he knows. You should dig through the comments, you just might find Cam backing me up on another negative comment ;)
Also as for the copy cat, all the best directors/musicians/artists take inspiration from somewhere. I took inspiration from someone I really respect.
Well I was already in a crappy mood, and usually don't comment on here.... maybe< .5%
Either way good luck. I hear a kid say "I'm the best" and there is no way to circumvent experience. Craftsmen work for years to perfect their trade... be humble.
Well I’m sorry to hear you were in a bad mood! Maybe next time my video will put you in a good mood :) In the future I’ll be sure to add “/s” anytime I’m being sarcastic.

But, did you check the moisture content of the wood before you started?
lol not before but I did before the epoxy pour
That bug raises some consternation about how the slab was dried.
I wonder if it was kiln dried at all. If not there very well may be more bugs in the table and could potentially come out after the table is done
There are no bug holes in the wood… that bug was chillin in the bark.
Two. It's dramatic and beautiful. Nice work. It seems you've learned a lot from Cam. Keep it up.
Thank you Thomas
OMG! You are wayyyyyy too slow and you don’t explain anything. Stop trying to copy Cam. Short and sweet is better than long and lose me. I fast forwarded and was still disappointed. No one wants to watch slow mo. The table is gorgeous, the video was painful.
I’m glad you thought the furniture was gorgeous! Sorry you feel that way about the video! Unfortunately I make videos for people with attention spans longer than that of a TikTok addicted teen! 🤷🏻♂️ And I’ve never copied anyone in my life, Cam copied me!
Patch, but with rounded corners to match the tables corners i,also like the tables very rounded edges.
2. Both are beautiful but the colouring and pattern on 2 is amazing. That little detail of knocking off the edges makes such a difference too.
Thank you so much! It’s such a unique pattern!
I’m thinking you should build your own channel, not leapfrog off of Cam’s success. I don’t care how good you are I’m not watching or supporting your channel.
Sorry to hear that David, I hope you change your mind!
The accurate average soundtrack I use on my glue ups too! Haha
Too stressful lmao
Doesn’t Cam always say to use a mold release? Otherwise decent content and better than I could do.
He does! And I did!
nice builds. better title
Thank you sir! Love your channel!
Too much of what you do is similar to Cam. Is he sponsoring your channel? 😄
He is not! But he commented! See if you can find it
Damn you put so much effort into the forms but it looks like you forgot the mold release. :P
I did put mold release… I just bought the cheap one 😞
#1 & #2. Welcome to the woodworking community. Love new content. I just hope Cam is aboard and doesn’t crush you for not letting him know your intro. The work you do is simple, but looks great. Honestly I hope you get a chance to, even with guidance, shine. One day you might indeed be the New Blacktail Studio. I sub’d not for your content, but for your potential. Let’s see how you do kid. I did rather enjoy the music, surprisingly.
Haha well I appreciate the sub! Cam commented, didn’t seem to mind as I do commend him in the video.
@@LateNightWoodworking 👍🏼
1, I really liked this! I think that a lot of people believe that epoxy tables are easy because of the idea of "just pour epoxy into the empty spaces and sand" idea, however they're so complex! I really enjoyed watching you struggle and learn while also creating gorgeous content!
Thank you! Yes you are so right, I really did learn so much it’s crazy.
Mate, I liked your video, because of normal speed and sound, not that fast-edited stuff, because it shows what it really looks like building such a table. We got way too much content, where everything comes together like magic and people build a whole table in under 10min, which internet is all about - everything is so easy and smooth... no its not.
What I was not such a fan of, was the idea being just like Blacktail Studio. He has his own thing, and I prefer watching something unique (Pedulla Studio for example is really unique work). I will follow your channel for now, to see how you will grow it and hopefully find your own face to it, something that speaks "late night woodworking". Dont take this as a negative comment, rather just a one man opinion. Keep posting.
I don’t find this to be a negative comment at all! Rather a comment with great constructive criticism. The whole blacktail thing was because I was making a table from walnut and black epoxy, I thought it would be funny to do a spoof of his videos with my own touch to them, and commend him as well for what he does. Although I have to employ some of his tactics seeing as they clearly work.
The title of your video is misleading, I only clicked on it long enough to find out if it was really Blacktail Studio. C’mon man. 🙁
Sorry Bob
Wtached it, loved it, subscribed to it.
Thank you clif!
Ooo boy I love the second one (2). The table looks like the surface of the Dune🤌🤌 so cool keep going 💪💪
Thank you!! And yes it actually does, I never saw that before
I know you said you wanted to avoid the J word to concentrate on making content. But hopefully you are still providing assistance for your living circumstances. Seriously though get a job, even part time and slowly build your business to the point you can run it as your primary income
y
I love how the wood and epoxy make the tables look like aerial photos of land and sea.
It really did! I think it was because the second pour was less black
2 is more balanced, and I'm a sucker for symmetry and balance. But why does it look like parts of it is desperate to suck up some oil?
Haha I’m not sure!!
I am disappointed you are not the original Cam. Where are you Cam? Your personalty was so enjoyably! Hate the music.😢
Fear not!
Is that sucker a double entendre for thinking C-channel is going to keep your table flat? Just kidding; great video.
Hahaha I hope not!!
Number 2, for sure, keep doing what you're doing. Silly to see people not understanding that you are just trying to have some fun with it all. Also, 1, I like that one, too
Thanks! It’s okay they don’t get it, there will always be haters!
Nice filming and content! Just curious - when cutting the large melamine strips why not use the track saw? Also, Tyvek tape is definitely the way to go.
I was sick of using it lol
Hi, very nice projects, I’d like to know your opinion on wich wood is the best one for black epoxy, I mean wich wood is the most beautiful?
Thank you! I think that black walnut looks very good, but I also really like the way maple looks with black epoxy, or even cherry. If I had to pick one, I’d probably choose spalted maple

Thank you!! I try hard to pick music that fits haha
This is the 1st time I saw your videos. I really enjoyed watching here in Philippines
Well thank you!! Hope to see you in the comments on the next one!
In fact as long as the epoxy is the same color for both table tops the divider is unnecessary as you can divide finished casting with your track saw after curing is complete saving you time, materials and getting two finished edges with one cut. Nice work tables very attractive, just making a suggestion for the future. Ray
Honestly great suggestions. Thanks Ray!
Both are great - but I love #2 Most. your reveal is so awesome and the zen factor is high! 🙂
Thank you!! Zen factor, I like that.
Does this have anything to do with Cam?? Just using the name? Confused in LA!!
No it does not! Haha just a spoof/homage
1&2. Great videos. I hope your channel is very successful. With that said I wouldn’t copy Cam too much. I’m a big fan of him as well. Anyway I enjoyed it and will be following your progress. Hopefully very soon you’ll be able to get your own place. If you’re able to advertise and grow your business I know by looking at your skills you will be successful. Looking forward to future videos.
Thank you very much! And for what it’s worth I never copied Cam, I’d call it a spoof. :)

I don’t know whether to say I’m sorry or thank you! But I guess to draw out that kind of emotion in a viewer is a good thing! You sound like a poet! :)
Attention to detail - Mould Release, I don’t know how many times he’s mentioned it.
Speaking of attention to detail! You must not have been paying attention
Your video style is amazing, love the content and love to see your process
Thank you so much!!! 😊
What do you guys think these tables are worth??
Ask Blacktail Studio what he thinks you should price them at, he's sold enough of his builds to give you a fair estimate.
I would if he responds!!
My go to is always time (paying yourself a set amount per hour) + double material and consumable cost.
I love your choice of music, and the pacing of the video is spot on. Use this as a template for future vids and you have magic. Thanks for sharing your journey!

No dig
Your music should be at the same level as the rest of the audio, PLEASE...
Also: Never got to see the whole table from all sides, that could be a sales killer.
I did like what I did see though, great work, nice details!👍
Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind. As for the audio music is supposed to be at -12db while voice is -6db so I can’t say I agree

great video, and great work. any recommendation for chisel set and handplane tools? also what airfiltration system is this? do you have a link? could also be an affiliate link so you get something out of it.
I don’t have any affiliations yet! I’ll add the links in the description for the chisels and the air filtration! Okay?
Very nice piece and stylish video. I particularly loved the highlighting of the more mundane aspects like sharpening - mundane, yes but absolutely critical and the difference between okay and great.
Can I suggest you give Natura Onecoat hard wax oil a try? In the video from the Wood Whisperer late last year, it won the overall winner prize. I’ve tried it and, for me, it’s way better than any other 2 pack. What made me think of this was the gummy tin of Rubio you wear using. I used a lot of Rubio and I reckon my sloppy pouring and that style of tin cost me a lot of money in lost product. One of the smaller things I like about Natura is their cans and the spouts. Even I can’t make a mess of them and the product itself is non-skimming. Hope you can try it out - it’s also significantly cheaper.
Wow I couldn’t agree more. I simply don’t understand the cab system that Rubio uses… I swear there isn’t enough hardener in there. I will definitely look into it!! Thank you for the suggestion and helpful comment :)
I recognise that “where the hardener gone?” feeling. I think it’s partly that you can’t get all of the product out of the relatively small aperture. I think you will find that it’s very different for the better with Natura. I understand the standard instructions to flood the surface with product as it the risk-free approach. However, I’ve been woodworking for 45 plus years and hope my experience allows me to understand the risk and reward in this. For instance, I make decisions based upon which species of timber I’m working with and the particular grain pattern; I’m trying to work out if it is open grain, closed grain or in-between. This “decision” will help me decide to what level of abrasive I go to. 240 grit is the standard advice and I may stick there if it’s very closed grain. If it’s open grain, I will go to 400 grit. I then water-pop, lightly sand and finally clean with alcohol on a clean rag. The risk is that I get it wrong and the oil does not penetrate evenly, leaving blotches in which case, I have to go back to sanding. The reward is that I almost always get a very smooth finish.
Similarly with application. The standing advice is to flood the surface with product; leave for a few minutes and then wipe off the excess. That’s the risk-free approach. Again, for me, it’s risk and reward. I risk just dripping some finish onto the surface and then use a white or maroon pad to gently “scour” the finish in. Leave no more than a minute or so and buff with a white Terry cloth. If I can, I use a car buffer as it’s easier on my old bones. If I can’t (pieces like legs or small boxes) then it’s just offcuts of pad and cloth and done manually.
With “my” method, I get a finished piece which is easily cured enough with Natura within 30 minutes for me to take off the bench and carefully stand elsewhere. Full cure will take a couple of days. The benefits of this quick cure is that it frees up my bench and stops dust on the air contaminating the piece.
As you know, every piece of timber, let alone every species, will absorb oil or water to different extents. So, there is no absolute rule on how much product is needed. My median is 200ml of mixed product for each 1 square metre of surface. I find that works out fine most times with my drip method. A bigger issue is getting every last ml out of the mixing cup.
Natura Onecoat is ….one coat. In my experience, if you apply a second coat, the oil element will not penetrate (as the oil in the first second did the penetrating) and you are just left with oil you have to wipe off. If I want a particularly high sheen, I just apply good quality paste wax.
I hope this helps. Again, I stress the risk and reward element of this and those new to finishing and/or hard wax oil should start off with the standard advice and progress from there.
Sounds confusing hahaha
@@LateNightWoodworking I hope not! A professional woodworker will have a short learning curve to se how they can get the best results. I think it’s a lot more predictable than trying to get consistent results from stains and dyes!

I’ll see you there
Now this content starts to look like all the others. I thought it was original when you were doing your work minimal equipped. Now with all the real expensive tools it is just a copy of all other big channels. Sorry to say
People have to grow!!
To be fair, there are a lot more small shops than big ones. So cheers for becoming more unique!
Dont get me wrong. The product is very nice but you are talking about making a living as a content creator and i think there you can put up a matrix between "how" and "what" you are making. And i am just pointing out that there are already some fields densely populated with channels.
I just felt that doing the "what" - meaning fine woodworking without aiming for the unique design aspect in a way a lot creators are doing it but focusing on the "how" achieving that in a very Basic Environment with the pure will and enthusiasm for craftsmanship is a little bit more unique than doing the same "what" in the same "how" manner.
Not talking about the Work shown Here ia Bad. Just felt that it had more potential for content creation. If it is more for the Sake of having a Shop than a content channel i got the Message wrong.
Never meant to be mean or disrespectful. Just feedback from an average Viewer
I would just say that I’ve only made 5 videos and any one of them does not determine the future of my channel. I didn’t take any offense!
Line the mould with s big plastic sheet comes out then no fussing.
