Thank you for the videos. My wife doesn't understand why I watch so many of them but I really enjoy escaping the rush and drama of the week. It's nice to watch something so calming. Im an beginning metal detectorist around my town and just love the videos. I also learn a lot from them as well. Once again thank you very much. Keep on having fun and be safe.
Hey Beau, this is the sort of video of yours I love, the old fashioned creek hunting! I live in Brisbane, Australia which was home to tens of thousand of US servicemen during WW2 and that 1944 coin item was made from the local currency of the time. It is a two shilling silver coin called a Florin and is equivalent to 24 pennies and replaced by a 20 cent piece in 1966. The Florin is sterling silver or 92.5% silver which was the standard silver coin metal from 1910 until 1946 when they all became 50% silver. I metal detect WW2 camps where i can and US servicemen were notorious for making all sorts of souvenirs and sweetheart charms from Australian currency in which they were paid while stationed here. That may have been a coat button especially if you have found one already. Love your work and please keep getting wet while doing it as many now emulate how you hunt hardly any can pull it off as well!! Cheers, Vic
During World War II, between 1942-1944, florin production was supplemented by coinage produced at the San Francisco branch of the United States Mint. These coins bear a small "S" mint mark below the Australian coat of arms.Mebbe one of those?? Down Under Brad
No matter what he finds it's still freakin' awesome and cool just to see what's in the river after all those years!! I just wish one-day I could go searching in a river!! Every episode is awesome n me n the kids enjoy watching what's found, so as a family we love these videos!! Thanx for making them cuz we really enjoy it!!
You are a great metal searcher, and you are incredebel intelligent, you know all about history" I've learned so manny things from you, you keep going on and do your business, great job! I'm already looking forward to the next video, Goodbye beau. And have a great day,
Beau, If you are interested I can restore that pocket watch (to working condition) and send it back to you (looking beautiful). I have a lot of similar pocket watch parts here in my shop (Andresen's Antique Restorations). I restore these types of watches all year long and it would be interesting to see who made it and then look up serial numbers to see when it was made, etc. You may have a real "River Treasure" dropped by one of the Civil War generals!! Let me know! Brian
G'Day Beau, The pommel cap sounds about rite. A Florin is an Australian 2 shilling piece in use until we changed to decimal currency in 1966, it was the equivalent of 20 cents and up until around 194? where made of 9?% silver. The Kangaroo and Emu with the shield is the Australian coat of arms depicting the states and territories.... Nice find
Thanks for another excellent video--amazing finds ,unusual artifacts and relics--the watch and pocket watch nice, and that hammer is probably a spike driver for the railroad--you do keep me on the edge of my seat watching for the next treasure--
Now thats a great day!,, I to like that pocket watch, , I've found just two and they seem to have a special glow when plucked from nature, . IM READY FOR THE NEXT STYLE SHIRT!
Chig..these are the videos you do best..and we like the most....thx for going back to the river...and..would be neat to see you do a restoration on the Garret you found...
Hey Beau, keep detecting that area, you found some interesting stuff. finding a pin pointer means there is moar! I`ll hold my breath till the next video. Lol
Hello @Aquachigger the coin/button thing you found was made by a company called Florin from 1943 to 1963. most coins were made with 50 % silver and is a collectors item and the back of the coin which has the mounted up bit was an extension so you can put the button onto a tie or shirt to show your wealth during those times.
@ 13.05. Yep, gas burner.[cast iron]. VERY common back in the days, there will be brass fittings on that under the rust Beau. Over here in Australia, these burners were well in use after WW2.
Dude I have been watching your videos a long time and love detecting. Please quit apologizing all the time you don't owe anyone any thing if they don't like something they can find another channel. Stay safe and happy hunting.
That Aussie florin is interesting. King George oughta be on the other side, but it looks like someone made the coin into a button or some such. That B&O hammer head is excellent!
Beau! That Aussie button thing is a one florin/two shillings. The coin was worth 24 pence back before we switched to decimal currency, odd that it was turned into a button, I've never seen anything like that. Any silver coins before 1945 are sterling silver too btw!
Hi Beau , the Aussie coin / Button , if it is made form from a real coin then it made of silver 925 , 1944 a substantial portion of the florins issued were struck at the U.S. Mint in San Francisco, The San Francisco florins have a "S" mintmark over the date. cheers from Australia
G'day Beau, don't know if you knew that the kangaroo and emu are used not only because they are uniquely Australian but also to symbolise a country moving forwards and never retreating as neither of them can walk (or hop) backwards . Keep up the good work mate.
Chig, good to see you back on the river. Do you keep a ledger/diary of the places you metal detect? What state have you found the most civil war relics?
Hello Chig, I think the groove is from shrinkage as the lead cooled. Looks like the two sinkers were cast in a homemade mold, the groove would have been the top side of the mold.
There was a WW2 dagger made in Australia that used a Florin replica as a pommel cap on the hilt. A lot were sold to US soldiers in Australia, but there are modern replicas too.
13:42 That's where I would walk around and find relics, and even do some fishing for the smallmouth. Right where the line is, (you probably already know this) Fort Germanna was right here. It's crazy to think all of this history from 1720 was right in my backyard.
I get so happy when i notice your latest video is a longer one. Good times ahead. Thanks for the vid. I love the look you gave after you said where the civil war relics used to be, it says, yup i got em 😎.
The only treasure hunter that goes into a competition with no tools and ends up winning a Detector, only to hunt and find more detector gear with it. Now that is an investment.
You've probably been told this many times over but the Australian Florin is imprinted with the Australian Coat of Arms , the Kangaroo and the emu (eem-you). :) Loving your uploads all the way from Western Australia
Thank you for the videos. My wife doesn't understand why I watch so many of them but I really enjoy escaping the rush and drama of the week. It's nice to watch something so calming. Should also add the buttons made using them probably date from 1966 after the coin became valueless when we adopted decimal currency.
I'm from Australia as well! Do you find any cool relics in Brisbane? (I'm from Sydney)
bwinfield1992 I have but between urban development and plenty of detectorists, the places and goodies are disappearing fast!
Im yet to get up to canetoat territory an hit up the ol RAAF base

That Australian "medallion" is actually an Australian Florin, pre-decimal currency from the dark ages before we switched to dollars. A cool find!
Now thats a great day!,, I to like that pocket watch, , I've found just two and they seem to have a special glow when plucked from nature, . IM READY FOR THE NEXT STYLE SHIRT!

Dude I have been watching your videos a long time and love detecting. Please quit apologizing all the time you don't owe anyone any thing if they don't like something they can find another channel. Stay safe and happy hunting.
You have a gift for information. Regards...
That Aussie florin is interesting. King George oughta be on the other side, but it looks like someone made the coin into a button or some such. That B&O hammer head is excellent!
i like the railroad hammer head, very similar to hammers that were used on the old bullhead rail here in England
Beau! That Aussie button thing is a one florin/two shillings. The coin was worth 24 pence back before we switched to decimal currency, odd that it was turned into a button, I've never seen anything like that. Any silver coins before 1945 are sterling silver too btw!
The Orient is a nice little watch. I've had a couple.
OMG YOU FOUND A VARY OLD AND RARE AUSSIE COIN WELL DONE!!! I don't even have one of them in my collection
Thank you 😊
Hi Beau , the Aussie coin / Button , if it is made form from a real coin then it made of silver 925 , 1944 a substantial portion of the florins issued were struck at the U.S. Mint in San Francisco, The San Francisco florins have a "S" mintmark over the date.
cheers from Australia

chigg that broken bottle is why I always say "Hold your Balls!
The B&O tool is a 8 pound wood splitting maul
Jason .Carter Yea I actually use still use something just like it to help me split logs for a fire .
A pin pointer! lol I think that's an awesome find, lol Awesome vid chigs!
Finding that old pinpointer that is classic.
Chig, good to see you back on the river. Do you keep a ledger/diary of the places you metal detect? What state have you found the most civil war relics?
Nice Watch 👍 good place to metal detect🙂👍
Hello Chig, I think the groove is from shrinkage as the lead cooled. Looks like the two sinkers were cast in a homemade mold, the groove would have been the top side of the mold.
would love to kmow how an aussie silver florin got into the creek in the usa nice silver find
I enjoy your videos, thank you
I really like that you found a pin pointer
Woe the florin button is an interesting find. It is one half of a predecimal coin called a florin
There was a WW2 dagger made in Australia that used a Florin replica as a pommel cap on the hilt. A lot were sold to US soldiers in Australia, but there are modern replicas too.
I believe the Australian Florin might have been a ring at some stage, quite popular in Australia, old coins made into modern jewellery.
from my research that austrailian coin is a silver coin that seems to have gotten turned into a button at some point really interesting found Chigg!
Yeah, it's a pre decimal Australian two shilling piece, pure silver by the way.
Nice! I saw that it could fetch upwards of $50. But what is a coin, turned button doing in this part of the world, lol.
trench art? some aussie got lost during WW2 :)
Was minted in San Francisco but probably returned to the U.S via some servicemen?
InSaNe JoKeRz a FLORIN IS THE PRE DECIMAL 2 shilling coin about 20 cent equivalent coin.
Tool you found is a wedge for splitting wood. You can set it in a crack in wood and then hammer the head. I have the tool. A maul.
13:42 That's where I would walk around and find relics, and even do some fishing for the smallmouth. Right where the line is, (you probably already know this) Fort Germanna was right here. It's crazy to think all of this history from 1720 was right in my backyard.
Loved the Soylent Green remark.
I wonder how many people got it?
I get so happy when i notice your latest video is a longer one. Good times ahead. Thanks for the vid.

The only treasure hunter that goes into a competition with no tools and ends up winning a Detector, only to hunt and find more detector gear with it. Now that is an investment.
Aquachigger I remember you found that padlock a while back marked B&O also
Chigger you are awesome! Love your videos!
You've probably been told this many times over but the Australian Florin is imprinted with the Australian Coat of Arms , the Kangaroo and the emu (eem-you). :) Loving your uploads all the way from Western Australia
Fish weights could be lead for doing stained glass work.
