    I have just bought an Alfa and had to have the egr fixed. I had no idea what it was (I am a bit of a ignorant wet girlie!) You really helped me understand what it's all about. As it always helps to get to know and understand my lovely car better. Thankyou

    Great video - I've got a Motor Control System Failure warning on my dash so I've bought an OBD lead and installed Multiscan ECU on my laptop and read the error and it's for the EGR Valve. I'm glad it's an easy fix, has saved me extra expense at the garage as I can do this really easily having now seen your demo. Thank you! :)

    Quick question - what's the part on the left of the EGR called? I have *massive oil leak* all over it, but I can't find it in the OEM Alfa catalog. You can see it exposed on 2:00 and onwards while you were unscrewing the EGR valve. It looks like a CV joint, but can't put my finger on it. Thank you in advance. Just so you know - your channel helped me A LOT, keep doing this.

    Great video Neil. Have you done a video on how to remove the manifold from the 1.9 ready for a swirl flap delete?

  • @salvofarnia8046
    @salvofarnia8046 3 года назад

    Egr clogs inlet cause flaps to break off.
    Mine has been blanked 5 years ago when new inlet manifold was fitted 1.9 jtdm, got camera in to check and all shiney like new in there even criss cross hone marks showing where flaps sit.
    Clean.

    I would like to point out that EGR having issues is also caused by DPF blocks causing backflow to the engine with all its gubbings! And EGR are also found on some high power petrol engine same as swirl valves.

    Hello, I'll go a bit off topic to this video, but you seem to know your way around Alfa Romeos and I have one problem I can't shake. I have a 147 which has some sort of bodged wing installation. From what I can tell, it's not glued. Can water be actually entering the sill and the footwell due to that or is the glue just a way to keep the panel in place, besides the screws? No water coming in when raining, just when power washing the car.
    In the video of the worst repaired vehicle you have ( The white ALFA GT - at 1:01 minute) you had taken a great picture with the wing off and the sill was shut where the wing bolts to it therefore water obviously can't get in there. Just wondering if the 147 is the same.

    • @ItaliaAutos
      @ItaliaAutos  5 лет назад

      hi yes the 147 is pretty much the same under there. mud can sit behind the wing and that can make it rust.

    • @hotwheels1997
      @hotwheels1997 5 лет назад

      @@ItaliaAutos I have been cleaning it regularly to keep it mud free while I'm sourcing a new wing in my color. Azzurro Gabbiano is a hard color to find in my country.
      But besides that, I take water can't be entering from there? It's entering the sill from somewhere as it soaks the bottom of my mats. Any other common spots to check? Sill plug is still there and sealed with some silicone as well as the plugs near the hinges.
      Thanks a bunch, I haven't commented yet but have been keeping up with your channel, it's great to see an Alfa Romeo guru in action.

    • @ItaliaAutos
      @ItaliaAutos  5 лет назад

      @@hotwheels1997 just paint it. 147s and 156s are becoming rare so finding panels in a rare colour are hard to find now. it will cost you more but it will look better in the end.

    • @hotwheels1997
      @hotwheels1997 5 лет назад

      Italia Autos it’s dented at one too many places which is why I want to change it. Might get a different color and repaint it, whichever is local.
      About the water ingress, do you reckon it couldn’t be from the improperly glued wing?

  • @redrambleson9785

    What are the benefits of fitting a blanking plate to the egr? I've seen lots of people "modding" their alfa who recommend closing it off? I apologise, I'm just about to buy my first alfa (2007 147 1.9 JTD) so you'll be getting lots of likes and questions lol

    • @ItaliaAutos
      @ItaliaAutos  5 лет назад

      It just stops the flow of exhaust gasses or restricts them depending on the type of blanking plate fitted.

    • @ianlam1445
      @ianlam1445 5 лет назад

      @@ItaliaAutos So no benefits?

    • @stevenjr6582
      @stevenjr6582 4 года назад +1

      Benefits consists in the fact that engine runs only on pure air rather than reused gases that contain carbon and restrict the intake manifold that screws up the map sensor ,limits the air directed to turbo and this makes poor mpg and cloged dpf.
