Thanks so much Fr for the great sermon about our Holy Pope St Pius X. He is the patron saint of our Novus Ordo parish in the Philippines and have a devotion to him since I was in my mid 20's. I never imagined that I will become a Traditional Catholic under the SSPX. As I always say, the best thing that the pandemic did to my life is to become a Traditional Catholic. If not from COVID I will never know about SSPX. Praise and thanks be to God. 🙏🙏🙏
Father, that is exactly the kind of sermon that the school children need to hear all through their careers in Catholic school. That plus their parents helping them to put it into practice. It is so important that they accept and inculcate the idea/ideal that that attitude toward their attitude toward God and their Faith is both supernatural, and natural so that it becomes who they are. I listened with a certain sense of regret that I really gave God a fight for my soul as I was fighting "the world, the devil and the flesh. I am so, so glad that He finally is winning! The battle is still not over, but I am finally begging Him to win, and take me HOME to His loving embrace when my work for Him is done.
A sermon like this, back in '69 when I was 17, may have gave me pause on at least few disastrous decisions I made post hs graduation... But, I thought being a hippie was my calling🤷
God bless you, Father, for this very informative, reassuring and helpful homily. Mrs Darley Tertiary of the great SSPX, SSPX Chapel, Manchester, England
Great sermon. As for modernism, might be worth reminding that modernism is not synonimous with modern. Modern is good and saintly. We always serve God in our present world and time with the most sophisticated means at our disposal, whether ancient or new. Modern means and tools are good when they serve Godly goals. Modernism is bad because it is a perversion of modern ideas to turn them against God. Curiously, many more examples of tricky manipulation of language with un-Godly goals exist. Language itself, one of the greatests assets and Godly marks of humans, can be turned and twisted against God.. And forces of evil have done that for centuries, with great success. It confuses the people of God, turning upside down the will and mind of the unprepared. Some typical examples are - Modern vs modernist. - Pride and strength vs arrogance and violence. - Liberty and freedom vs unhinged resentful liberalism. - Science vs scientism and dogmatism. - Democracy vs demagogical mobs. - Justice vs Social justice
