Avi, the original bass, left because he was tired of traveling, plus his mother was ill. They parted on good terms, and he went off and initially formed his own group, Avriel and the Sequoias, but lately he's done a lot of solo work. All of his solo work is highly recommended.

They are actually using effects on this one - contrary to what they usually do - because this period just couldn't be done justice without auto-tune, etc. Normally, they won't put anything on a track that they can't do live, but sometimes they will to honor the original.
They started using more audio effects on The Lucky Ones album. They did live versions of Lucky Ones tracks for TV shows that still sounded good, so the rule of "no extreme effects" is now out the window according to their sound engineer Ed Boyer.
They do use auto-tune on a couple of things in this one, as an effect rather than to correct vocal pitch. Otherwise, that, it's just Mitch. He can imitate a bizarre range of sounds (felt-tipped marker squeaks seemed to be a favorite at one point ... there are a bunch of tour + rehearsal videos available under #PTXperience that show you all kinds of casual interactions between the group members and their tour staff). ETA: Oh, more songs - you have a bunch of good suggestions already, but how about Imagine (cover), Love Again (original), La La Latch (cover/mashup), Shallow (cover), Sounds of Silence (cover), SIng (original), Can't Sleep Love (original), Come Along (cover), Mary Did You Know (cover, and yes, Xmas song, but don't let that stop you), Coffee in Bed (original).

Here's a little bit of History about them. They won the 3rd season of The Sing-Off, they won $200,000 and a singing contract with Sony records which drop them immediately afterwards because they were not sure what to do to promote them! So they came up with their own RUclips channel to share their music. They have won 3 Grammys 1st Grammy was for Daft Punk in 2014, for Best Arrangement Instrumental or A Cappella. They made this one themselves, all the vocals were done in a closet and the video was done at the kitchen table in Avi and Kevin's apartment. Their 2nd Grammy was for Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy in 2015 for Best Arrangement Instrumental or A Cappella, and their 3rd Grammy was Jolene for Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2016 which they performed with Dolly Parton.

This one was released completely by surprise, as even the most ardent Pentaholics had no idea this had even been recorded! They have announced that they are currently working on a new project in the studio, but are being very secretive about it. Since there are 17 songs in this medley, I have the theory that the new album is gonna be a 90s Dance Music covers album featuring full versions of all 17 of these songs. I guess this video was your introduction to Avi's replacement Matt.
You could also check out Home Free. They are another vocal band (no instruments) who follow in the steps of PTX, literally, as PTX won The Sing Off, season three and Home Free won in season four.

The filter is actually pretty cool, just a tip if you want to change it, you only need to put the filter over the video itself, not your face as well, although, it still looks really cool! For more Pentatonix, there's a bunch you can do for different reasons. I'll put some down below with the reasons I think you should! Daft Punk Medley - this song earned them their first Grammy and really put them on the map, it's also similar to this in terms of it being a medley and dance songs with effects that shouldn't be possible with just voices. Jolene with Dolly Parton - earned them another Grammy, as well as Dolly finally earning her Grammy for Jolene! Say Something - really showcases Kirstie, she often gets a little bit drowned out in their earlier stuff because she can harmonize with Mitch so well and Mitch is center stage because of how incredible he is. Loved you dancing and singing along, happened to me first time I watched. Suggestions: Imagine, Can’t Hold Us, Rather Be, Cracked, Sing. Dude there is so many songs in their discography, and then all their side projects too.
They have a ton of originals that you might want to check out! SING, Love Again, Coffee in Bed…so many more. I know it’s July but two of my favorite songs are considered Christmas songs, Little Drummer Boy (there is not a better version of this made) and Oh Come All Ye Faithful (absolutely amazing). ☺️
My first suggestion, would be to listen to their version of IMAGINE, for the arrangements and the way they made it. After that, why not check LOVE AGAIN, wich is an early original song they wrote. There are so many songs pentatonix has done...covers, originals.....it will take time to go thru all of them....but I can tell you in their 10 yrs I've never seen a bad music video. Here are some more suggestions...sounds of silence, royals, mad world, imagine, cant hold us, can you feel the love tonite, problem, wizard of ahhhs (a montage of 16 pop songs made to tell the story of wizard of oz) (how many can u guess?..lol), You did daft punk which they won their first of 3 grammys for...the other 2 are dance of the sugar plum fairies and jolene W/dolly parton, attention, and so many more. Some originals are sing, love again, happy now, love me when i dont, coffee in bed, be my eyes, a little space, never gonna cry again, the lucky ones. I feel so old! My music era is 60s and 70s and some 80s. I do know three songs from this medley though! It is great to see your reaction since you know all the songs. PTX has introduced me to newer music while honoring older stuff.
I'm the same when it comes to the time frame for these songs. In Toronto, Ontario, Canada there is CHUM AM radio. When I was a kid, they played all the new music. Now it is an Oldies Station. The play list has not changed. LOL
I always encourage folks to check out their original music. Their first all original album came out in '15 then this year they put out another one titled "The Lucky Ones"
You're far from the first person who was disappointed when it ended. I would actually love to hear them do each of these songs in their entirety. 😄As for your cartoon filter, I'm really liking it. Some reactors haven't figured out the filtering thing yet and will literally stop the video every 15-20 seconds, which is super annoying. Your filter helps you and we can still tell what's going on with all the singers. Most Pentaholics are pretty understanding of what needs to be done, and would not complain about this cool filter! 😉
The original bass singer you're thinking of, with the beard and long hair, is Avi. He left the group on 2017 and was replaced by Matt, the bass in this video. Both are great. Avi has some solo stuff that is worth a listen, especially "Change On The Rise."
also the original bass was Avi kaplan and he originally left for personal reasons and is now out on his own. He had a hand in choosing his replacement.
You should watch some of their videos from the sing off (A cappella singing show they won). They have an incredible talent for creating an arrangement. They’re also amazing at harmonizing and knowing each other vocal wise, it’s incredible!

I feel so old! My music era is 60s and 70s and some 80s. I do know three songs from this medley though! It is great to see your reaction since you know all the songs. PTX has introduced me to newer music while honoring older stuff.
I'm the same when it comes to the time frame for these songs. In Toronto, Ontario, Canada there is CHUM AM radio. When I was a kid, they played all the new music. Now it is an Oldies Station. The play list has not changed. LOL

I always encourage folks to check out their original music. Their first all original album came out in '15 then this year they put out another one titled "The Lucky Ones"
You're far from the first person who was disappointed when it ended. I would actually love to hear them do each of these songs in their entirety. 😄As for your cartoon filter, I'm really liking it. Some reactors haven't figured out the filtering thing yet and will literally stop the video every 15-20 seconds, which is super annoying. Your filter helps you and we can still tell what's going on with all the singers. Most Pentaholics are pretty understanding of what needs to be done, and would not complain about this cool filter! 😉

The original bass singer you're thinking of, with the beard and long hair, is Avi. He left the group on 2017 and was replaced by Matt, the bass in this video. Both are great. Avi has some solo stuff that is worth a listen, especially "Change On The Rise."

You should watch some of their videos from the sing off (A cappella singing show they won). They have an incredible talent for creating an arrangement. They’re also amazing at harmonizing and knowing each other vocal wise, it’s incredible!
