I'm a subaru partisan and think that my active awd is crap, because it's pseudo awd system like a haldex ;) the resent improvements is to use brakes instead of diff-locks - cheap and cheerful, but consumes power and brakepads
Sorry, my comment was aimed at Subaru owners who think Haldex is second rate. I know Subaru has an excellent AWD system, and have read a little on the latest improvements. Recent AWD improvements are more about driving dynamics than just driving in poor traction--and that's across all makes and models.
in truth I'm pleased with it and not think it's a crap )). It's enough for winter uncleared roadside parking in the snow and leave it, drive to the countryside on the bad roads (almost offroad) .

Audi uses the Haldex system in the TT.
Subaru has 3 types of AWD. And "Active AWD" works like Haldex.
