    This video is about Channel Islands "Biscuit Bonzer" Surfboard review by Noel Salas Ep 22
    The Biscuit Bonzer is a small wave board and with the large single fin you have unlimited options on fin placement. With the low entry and exit rocker, Bonzer concaves and 5 fin setup makes these little boards so much fun to ride says Salas.
    Noel talks about why he went custom on these two Biscuit Bonzers. The stock dimensions on the Channel Islands website fit Noel at a 5’2” with 29 liters of volume. He went with two custom boards one at 5’4” and the other at 5’5”. When the boards get too short for him like a 5’2” then it takes a while to transition back to his performance boards. The shorter boards at 5’2” seem to mess with his stance and center too much so he rolled the dice and really liked the 5’4”. Salas did mention the 5’2” looked very appealing to him but he remembers his struggles with the transition from his stock 5’2” Pod Mod that he loved.
    Noel liked the Biscuit Bonzer and recommends riding it shorter like the CI website recommends but not too short.. He gives a great example on how to buy it stock or order it custom.
    From The CI website: www.cisurfboards.com
    The Biscuit originally began changing lineups in 2007. Revolutionary at the time with ultra-flat rocker and standard sizes going as short as 5’2″, the Biscuit rapidly became a favorite for many of the team riders and surfers around the world. Soon after, we began to notice that certain people “Bonzer-ized” their Biscuits with the Campbell’s 5-fin setup. Turns out the pronounced spiral vee in the back of the board jived perfectly with the Campbell brothers’ Bonzer 5 recipe. Now exactly 10 years later, that vision by a small crew of surfers is a reality. For all of you who remember the smile the Biscuit brought to your face, enjoy the added drive and rail-to-rail feel of the Bonzer 5 Biscuit. Ride this board about 4″ - 6″ shorter than you are tall.

    I wish we had a guy like you reviewing boards for New Jersey seasons. Im looking at these waves your riding and saying to myself rarely in NJ

      Njsrufrider I hear you..., I know the waves I test boards is not realistic for everyone. My hope is you will get the gist of how these boards feel along with what their attributes are. Does the board have good speed and what are their characteristics. Our reviews are to help surfers learn a little more about the boards they are already thinking about buying... and answer questions like is it loose, fast, and what size waves will it go good in. I also like to test out the new constructions that are coming out... is it durable, does it have good flex, is it worth the extra money. Testing fins in these boards is another aspect I focus on and all of this is to help the surf community make better board decisions or maybe just help surfers pull the trigger with confidence on the boards or gear that they were already thinking of buying. I hope this helps.... maybe your the guy to do Surfboard reviews for the NJ crew? Just a thought..., Cheers

    Would love to see a big boy review section, I'm 6 3" - 200lbs and ride shortboards in the 36L+ category. So would be awesome to see that upper girthy range of boards for the heavier set brothers or sisters.

    Ditto re: sticking with similar volume, length of boards - I won't even touch a longboard anymore; far too much re-adjust time.
    I just don't see a ton of Bonzer sales for CI although stoked they are trying new/old? concepts. Another great vid!

    Agree that making drastic board changes can be challenging - may never surf a longboard for that reason alone. Seems like a lot of fin. Super rad surfing and footage as usual! Killing lowers.

    Hi Noel, just wondering how the bonzer felt on release during a turn. I am really keen to try a bonzer and loved my 5'2" biscuit but am afraid the 6" fin might make the board feel bigger than it is and on small waves there isn't room for more drawn out turns. All the best J

      It's kind of strange but when I was surfing the Biscuit Bonzer I didn't really feel the big single fin. The board has tons of drive and pivots pretty good. The release felt good and off the bottom felt solid too. I think the original Biscuit was fun but I had the 5'4 which was a bit big for me. I would love to ride this Biscuit Bonzer again in the 5'2 Stock DIMS. Let me know how it goes if you get one. Don't worry about the 5 fins under you just get one and go for a surf. Try something new and have fun!!!!

    • @surfnshowreviews7777

      Weirdo Ripper shreds like a HPSB in a shorter package and easier to surf. The Biscuit Bonzer is more of a Groveler.

    If you had to pick 1 board for the conditions you surf most, which would it be and why?

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  7 лет назад +2

      Miguel Marquina I would choose a board tat has low to medium entry rocker and medium exit rocker. My DiMS would be between my Groveler and my HPSB. 5'8 x 19 x 2 5/16 Volume 26-27 liters. My favorite boards for this type of board is Fever Flexbar, Lost V3 Stealth Carbon Wrap, Hayden Shapes Darkside FUture Flex. No particular order. All 3 boards are epic!!!
