    Beware lap swimmers! Here at the Summerlin club in Vegas they keep the
    pool at an incredibly warm 86 degrees to accommodate the swim school for
    kids. Apparently they couldn't care less about accommodating lap
    swimmers, since it should be around 80-82 degrees. Before joining any of their clubs for the purpose of lap
    swimming, it would be wise to see ask what temp. they keep the pool at.

    I find that hard to believe. The front desk girls always seem miserable. In fact, I used to date a chick who worked at 24 Hr & she didn't have anything positive to say about it.

    I am going to work there as a head sales rep. I have an extensive background in previous sales. Rapport, warm up and open ended questioning, looping pattern if needed, trial clothes clarifying questions then ask for the sale.
    Inevitably my goal is to become a personal trainer getting my NASM certificate. I look to build a thriving coaching career online and within 24 hour fitness. I'm in Tacoma Washington at the 38th street location.

    I was a membership manager for this terrible company from 2005 to 2008. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY if you don't want to be abused by middle and upper-management. They treat employees very badly, which is why turnover is so incredibly high. The only good part of the job is the member base, as the members are great. I was one of the longest-serving employees in our district. The pressure from DESPERATE district managers to sell and hit your numbers is ridiculous. The company is troubled. Look at Glassdoor.com and other employment sites for good insight into this company. Also look at Wikipedia and Justia.com to read about employee lawsuits against this company

      +joe louden Thanks for the heads-up.
      I'm moving into a new area, and nearly considered joining the local club.
      One look at the info on Wikipedia has changed my mind.

    Look up the term "Arbeit Macht Frei". That term applies to minimum wage labor in the USA generally, and 24 Hour Fitness specifically. You shouldn't have to have "the skills to make it to the next level" to earn a living wage.

    I've been a member of 24 hour fitness since May 2015 in NY upgraded my membership to the Super Sport all access membership. Previously i was a member of Bally"s Total Fitness which went out of business usually when I go there at least 2X week to 4X a week I do my 1 hour cardio on the elliptical machine light weights and swimming. I do not fall for any sales hype just do my workout and mind my own business

    I do an hour cardio there daily. The gym is fine. Trainers are a joke. I have nothing better to do than watch them. They all train the same way, bands, stretching, balls, TRX, etc. NO free weights used by any of them. Im guessing this is how they are being told to train. I feel bad for the clients. Some cardio and free weights or machines would bring better results and make customers more happy. The 50 year old lady is given the same routine as the 20 year old male.

      I'm a personal trainer. That's definitely not the way I train

    • @jons4934
      @jons4934 10 лет назад +6

      The average client just wants functional training with balls etc. so that's why. As far as cardio is concerned they could be shown what to do, but honestly what's a trainer gonna do stand there while they walk? Trainers usually tell clients to do cardio on their own for this reason.

    • @joelouden6592
      @joelouden6592 9 лет назад

      Cayman King When I was a trainer there, we were told over and over again by our district fitness manager and in-store fitness manager to keep clients away from free weights, to delay their results so they would need to buy more sessions, and to train them with low-intensity so they don't get sore and quit.

      +joe louden that sounds about right

    • @LexesOHara
      @LexesOHara 7 лет назад +1

      And this is exactly why I'm not sure if its a good idea for me to work there either. I do online personal training and in person training through bootcamps, but I miss the weights and the ability to train despite outdoor conditions & lack of my own equipment, so I start there this week... but if a manager tells me not to get my clients results, F*CK THEM. I'm doing it anyways. Makes me so mad.

    I worked at 24 for 3 years. Just wanted a front desk basic job. And worked my way up to a sales manager in a year. I did have sales experience. They always worked around my school schedule and personal live even as a manager and leader. If I didnt want to continue in college I wouldve easily been able to make a career out of it. The leadership starting from the top and how they develop people to overall be better was an awesome experience for me.

      Does signing up for a Costco deal trouble the 24 hour fitness employees ? Would one be able to do the Costco deal again ? I was gonna do it again but the gym I usually go to didn't let me but I hear people use the Costco at least 2 more times.

    But for LA $12 an hour was really quite low, but as a learning opportunity it isn't bad. While the review is of his work in 2010- mid 2011 the review is also 2+years old and pay structures have indeed changed as his departure was just following the housing foreclosure crisis where so many companies started cutting staffing right and left and cutting salaries and benefits at the same time. I do think he is trying to put a positive spin on the position and organization and it's not operated like LA Fitness which seems to pride itself on questionable tactics.

    potential 24hr gym customers need to know that various 24hr gym locations serve as secret homosexual bathhouses. these will never be openly admitted to, and customers will have to find out only through unpleasant and unfortunate experience.
    also, 24 hr gyms DO NOT keep the sauna or most of the non-gym floor equipment/areas operational for all but a few hours during the day. again, they will lie through their teeth about this, but it is 100% the case.
    I highly highly highly recommend to everybody to completely avoid this chain gym.

    • @joelouden6592
      @joelouden6592 9 лет назад +1

      ***** We used to find used condoms in the men's locker room sauna all the time. I thought it was just our location that was heavily-trafficked by gay men (it was in a gay area) but managers at other locations nation-wide said their gyms were full of gay men, too. Not popular with lesbians, but certainly with homosexual males, even though the gym was in an area with a lot of lesbians.

    im looking for a job at 24 hour but i dont know which job to apply and as of right now im a college student trying to pursue physical therapy. i wanted to know if you or anyone can reply back if you need a sometime of degree or certificate for being a personal trainer ?

    • @wealthwithaaron
      @wealthwithaaron  9 лет назад

      marc lee Unless they changed it, 24HF was very lenient with hiring trainers who didn't already have their cert. I think they make you get it but you can still be hired. Double check that now though.

    • @Ian_MacGregor
      @Ian_MacGregor 9 лет назад

      marc lee after working for 24 for nearly 2 years, i would strongly recommend you seek different options for PT jobs other than 24... if you don't meet the numbers and make enough clients and sales within just a couple months, they will terminate you.

    • @cjmcoolguy91
      @cjmcoolguy91 9 лет назад

      +Ian Smith what kind of numbers are we talking about? I'm contemplating working for 24 while I intern.

    • @Ian_MacGregor
      @Ian_MacGregor 9 лет назад

      +CJMLENS each 24 hour fitness trainer has specific weekly and monthly income goals to help the club make money and unless you are consistently reaching those goals at the end of each period, they won't hesitate to fire you. it's all about making money. plus, they take more than 75% of the total cost of every training session you sell.

    • @wealthwithaaron
      @wealthwithaaron  9 лет назад

      Yes, it's 100% sales focused. Not a bad thing necessarily especially if you need to develop those skills, which will make you successful in any other area in your life. But just know what it is before you get going. Good luck! Find me on FB if you have any questions for me.
