    Thanks for the video! I just purchased a couple of waffle plants at Lowe's off the bargain/clearance rack. I was a little worried because they looked close to dead. I watered using using tank water and they look better already. I am going to be adding them to a breeder box that hangs off my 60 gallon. Btw your wife and mine should get together so they can share husband fish tank stories. 😂

    Thanks for giving me a new plant to try out. I like all the different varieties. I also like starting with just cuttings from the mother plant. They seem to adapt better than the older plant.

    The funny thing is, it's my mom that's gotten into propagating plants in my fish tank now! She just came up with a lovely variegated Pothos cutting that came off her 50 year old plant that was just too healthy and pretty-looking to throw out.

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  9 месяцев назад +1

      Awesome! That’s a great way to keep the Pothos going

    I've seen some people having success growing orchids in fishtanks. That's something I'd like to try, but I hear it's fairly difficult, and you have to use fairly young plants.

    • @WhatIsMisophonia
      @WhatIsMisophonia 9 месяцев назад +2

      I'm trying that myself, and although I've had it in there for over a month and it's not dying, it's not doing anything either.

      I have a moth orchid and ground orchid growing in a planter with lava rock and sphagnum moss and only the bottom half of the planter in the water. They both bloomed in the spring and now they are not doing much, waiting to see what happens this spring (they are both growing in a greenhouse tank)

    • @joshuadecker1305
      @joshuadecker1305 9 месяцев назад

      @plantlifeproject from what I understand some orchid blooms are triggered by wide temperature swings like 30 degrees. My mom does orchids but I've never personally owned one. I'll have to do some experimenting. I have a spot where i put hyacinth bulb on, when ut goes into dormancy ill replace it with an orchid, and moss.

    Ah perfect timing for this video! I'd love some advice if you're able, this will be the first riparium plant I'm putting in my tank. I just bought a purple waffle from my LFS and they had it fully submerged, with the note that it should be grown emersed long term. When I got it home, I put just the roots in and left the leaves above. Within a day it started getting crispy feeling and the leaves were looking very unhappy. I put it back mostly underwater with just a few leaves sticking up over the top...it seems slightly happier. Since it has been previously fully underwater (for I don't know how long), do I need to somehow slowly adapt it to growing in air again? Or just pull the leaves up out of the water, and let whatever happens, happen...and hopefully it adapts? Thanks for any advice you can give me!

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think it just needs to adapt to growing out of water. I would slowly transition it out of the water like you are describing. Hope this helps!

    I just came here to say, no, it's not as easy to grow as pothos, this is a lie; You can grow pothos in practically anything, but I failed in growing waffle plant in my aquarium.

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  8 месяцев назад

      I’m sorry Hemigraphis didn’t work out for you.
      It doesn’t mean it’s a lie, though.

    • @WhatIsMisophonia
      @WhatIsMisophonia 8 месяцев назад

      @@plantlifeproject When one plant is able to grow in a wider variety of circumstances than another, the former is easier to grow than the latter. Waffle plant does not grow in water as easily as pothos if it must be grown with its roots partially out of the water as in a specific hydroponic situation. Saying that your thumbnail is a lie might be a bit of an overstatement, but it is still misleading. There are many plants that can be grown very easily hydroponically, but pothos is in a league of its own, which is why it became a popular plant for aquarists.
