    Had a Remington 870 Express decades ago. Saved for about a year to get it and absolutely LOVED it!! Great bird gun. Too bad some jack wagon broke into my apartment and stole it (along with a couple other toys). Man that thing was accurate and could reach out and drop doves/quail/pheasants. Looked at gtting another a while back but the construction was shoddy and it felt cheap. Hope they are back on track with this platform.

    My 870 "Special Field" model purchased new in 1987 exhibits exceptional fit and finish but to be fair the purchase price in today's dollars would be much higher than the basic price point this shotgun is intended for. As is, todays model looks to be very good value for the money

      I agree 100% with you and I definitely prefer my early 90's 870 Magnum Special Purpose with its Dupont early days Realtree Greenleaf synthetic stock is tight as a tick on a hound dogs ass and the fitment was pretty darn good back then for synthetic stocks and the slide action is spot on smooth with its Carlson's 7+1 extension tube after I ground down those two stock mag tube dimples and it cleaned up rather nicely so much so you would think it came from the factory that way back in the day !!!

    The model shown in the video still looked a bit rough on the stock assembly, but I guess it's a matter of baby steps. Compared to your original video, they saw there was a quality issue, that should have never been there to start with, and they are addressing it. Good for RemArms. There is hope for them yet.

    I got out of the 870 game after buying two with crooked removable chokes. Not fun to miss because the gun doesn’t shoot straight. They fix that yet?

    • @someonewhocares5033

      @Nick I think it’s pretty easy to see. Looking into the muzzle the back of the choke doesn’t sit concentrically in the bore.

    • @LibertyFromLead
      @LibertyFromLead 2 года назад +2

      Agreed. I have one from then and no reason for me to get one of these newer models. Most new model guns just look cheap to me. The "wood" which I wouldn't even call it wood, is so ridiculous on non super high end or custom guns it makes me not even consider and go with a synthetic if I had to buy one new. And I'm a classic wood guy. This is why I shop in local gun shops and gun and pawn shops for older used guns. The price difference is just a plus. No pride in craftsmanship and profits over quality material.

    Contacted Remarms to get drop and cast shim for my V3 shotgun which should have come with the gun in the first place. They send me to some other company for parts and can not get a response from them either. What a nightmare to get two plastic shims. I think this gun is going to be traded for something that has customer support.

    Remington and century are both trying to improve their quality but they’ve already got a bad reputation so it’s kind of too little too late for most people. I bought a mossberg two years ago because of Remingtons bad reputation and I probably would have gotten an 870 like everyone else in my family if I wasn’t up to date on this kind of stuff and I had never even heard of mossberg until I did some research.

    • @Sackmatters
      @Sackmatters 2 года назад +3

      They have a bad reputation? Remington had bad firearms for 7-10 years and prior to that they were flawless ever Remington I own is a perfect functioning weapon. It’s not to late considering Remington has been around for over a hundred years. They’ve got one hell of a backing.

    I think in the long run Remington will do just fine. They should never ever again allow themselves to play the game of selling 870s in Walmart for the $279 price point and expect people to respect their quality. It got to the point where people were regarding these guns like BiC lighters........ironically BiC lighters had a better fit and finish. I'd gladly pay substantially more for an 870 built like they were in the 1980s and earlier. Will be interesting to see what production from the new Georgia plant will be like. My R1 1911 made in Alabama before the bankruptcy is surprisingly flawless.
