  • Check out this video, where I break down 4U by Tia's haircare products for 2A - 4C hair.
Based on m breakdown of the ingredients I would not buy any of the product. The message is misleading, leading to consumers to double buy products. Not cool.

How to read an INGREDIENTS' LABEL
Ingredients are listed on the back of a product in concentration of highest to lowest. 1st ingredient is usually water, which takes up to 50% to 80% concentration of the product, followed by the other ingredients in descending order of concentration, with the 3 to 5 ingredients taking up the remaining bulk of the product, followed by the remaining 10-15 ingredients having 1% or less concentration and not required to be in any specific order.
Certain ingredients perform certain functions and so the concentration of each ingredient may differ and not reflect it's importance., such as preservatives having 1% concentration, but important in preventing bacteria and mold growth.
Ingredients are broken down into 3 categories
    1. Active - the main ingredients are within the first 3 ingredients, because they make up 80% - 90% of the product's formulation
    2. Base ingredients are within the first 5 ingredients, which help with creating the product's consistency and texture, such as the emulsifiers, emollients, thickeners and silicones
    3. Aesthetic ingredients are the next 10 - 20 ingredients (excluding the preservatives) that include the ingredients featured on the front label, but will not be supported by the INGREDIENTS' LABEL as having a function in how the product works. These are marketing claims with no merit.

I am very familiar with Tia as an actress and that she is biracial, with a hair type as you have described, so the fact that she has a hair care line in the full range of hair types is a joke on the hair care consumers with 4C hair. I don’t understand a haircare line with a range from 2A to 4C. I can’t even respect her for endorsing this product that she has obviously just put her name on a product by a manufacturer who has no understanding of 4C hair. I will be sticking to the products I already have been using, I don’t need anything new that is nothing new or worth my money. Please keep educating the hair care consumer community your reviews are necessary and needed. Plus I always enjoy how you bring the science behind the products. I recently realized I need to focus on moisturizing and this has helped to reduce dryness tremendously, so now I keep a moisturizing regime

Thank you so much for your comments.
I agree with you the haircare line may not be suited for 4c hair. It depends on what you want. A light conditioner may not eliminate the frizz, but you may not want the frizz eliminated.
At the same time, the shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner all use common in-the-cosmetic-industry ingredients.
The shampoo is fine for 2a - 4c hair, if you are looking to use a gentle shampoo. A shampoo's purpose is to clean your hair
My hair does not respond well to light conditioners, whether it's a rinse-one conditioner or leave-in conditioner. When I use a conditioner, I want the feeling that my has been coated with the conditioner. The heavier, the better. Some 4c hair peeps may not want that. If you don't want that with 4c hair, then these may be the conditioners.
Definite difference between 2a hair to 4c hair.
2a to 3a hair needs to wash their hair more because of the natural sebum than can slide down their hair strands because of the straighter hair.
We 4c hair have natural sebum from the scalp too, but it doesn't slide down the hair strands because our hair is in much tighter curls, thus leaving our hair dry and having to use "conditioners" to lubricate the hair strands to prevent dry, brittle hair strands that would eventually break off.
Bottom line haircare is different depending on your hair texture.😊

Thanks for watching my video! I just realized that I have the wrong photo for the conditioner. There are two "different" conditioners, but I have only one showing in certain areas of the video. Either way the two that Tia Mowry is offering both share the same formula, but are sold as different products. At 15:58 timestamp, photos of both conditioners are featured in the ingredients breakdown.

You're welcome. Buying both shampoos would be a waste of $$$, since they both formulas are the same.

Thank you for your awesome break down. I saw the products in Walmart and I didn’t even realize the 2 shampoos and the 2 conditioners were essentially the same!😮 i wanted to request a breakdown of Camille Rose Fresh Curl. What is the ingredient that gives it the hold?

You are welcome. Yes, it's a must to examine the ingredients' label, usually on the back of the container.
I quickly reviewed the Camille Rose Fresh Curl and it looks like it relies mainly on oils for hold and humectants, considering the order of the ingredients on the ingredients' label. 😊
