- Ski Camber and Rocker Explained | The Ski Workshop
Understanding what camber and rocker is can be confusing at first due to the many different terms ski brands like to use. But it’s really pretty straightforward as, once you break it down, it simply describes the general profile of a ski. The profile of a ski is the shape they form when placed on a flat surface. The three main types of profile to understand are camber, reverse camber and rocker (or early rise).
So, with this in mind, here's our guide to camber and rocker. Looking for more info? Check our our full guide here: mpora.com/skiing/ski-camber-a...

which type of skis are best for packed groomer or icy groomer surfaces? where I live, we don't have a lot of soft powder.
This doesn't apply to many people, and those that it does apply to likely know it, but I would have mentioned that a heavily cambered ski, when loaded, builds energy that you can use to power out of a turn - or, if you're not ready for this unloading, will likely cause you to be launched towards an incident - most experience this the very first time they try a 'race' ski unless they were kid racers and only know skis of this type. I enjoyed the skiing in your Mindbender video that you also used in this video.
Glad you liked the videos, Paul! And yes, that's a good point.
My ski tech says my Nordica NRGY 90s need replaced as you can no longer get a finger between them when they are laid together i.e. the camber has gone (they are 8 or 9 years old). Is he right?
