- On this week's episode of Onboard Lifestyle the crew takes on the second phase of our project...the electrical. We are adding a DC socket, a AC outlet, and a designated Starlink inverter. Linh whips up some custom shades for the salon windows, and the crew gets a much needed sushi night out on the town. Barra de Navidad is a special place and we will try to get as much done before we leave. Come back next week to see our progress...see you then!

Little Emma is not so little anymore. Wow, she is getting tall.
Great family video.
Moved the Freezer and Teal was so happy about the floor real estate, I was thinking Oooh that looks like a nice space to store a sewing machine and over-locker, then you start talking about the sun shades 🤣
Girls looking good all dressed up..as always 😊
Electrical job done, box checked off the list.
Shades for the salon windows job- almost done.
Family dinner night out- mission accomplished.
And.. Compass was part of the action too. I feel better now seeing my little fur ball buddy!
The Lifestyle Onboard our boat is completing jobs in exotic locations pretty much.
You’re sushi looks mouth watering Emma 😊
Great vid guys, thxs.
Our pleasure!
Teal you are a genius and a hard working Sea Captain. Linh has mad skills on the sewing machine. Linh, you and Emma are two lucky ladies and the best crew. God Bless.
Thank you so much! We agree!
Mama cleans up very well. I liked that sax player's rendition of Hotel California. The electrical panel continues to impress.
Yes, she does!😍
Basik looks better than a lot of cats that are 25 years newer than her.. It is a testament of all of your efforts. Job well done.
Great job Emma . Nice narration.
Love the shades. Hope to see that finished soon.
A way to go you all. Well done 👍🏻
Thank you so much!
Teal, I am so impressed with all you have to know in order to maintain a big boat. All the electrical, carpentry, and refinishing work you have done, and the list goes on and on. I don't know where you learned all this but it is very impressive. Linh you know so much about repair work and cleaning, sewing, and mixing epoxy (LOL) on your "home" Also, you both make a fantastic team. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us. I never ceased to be amazed week after week. Such a joy to watch your videos.
Emma certainly has a good pair of teachers and Supervisor Compass 😎
hey, just came by your channel even tho I have been fallowing up with many cat vloggers for a while, its amazing what you are doing with your boat! Advanced engineering and amazing style, also each of you look so radiant while naturally take caring of things on the about and being yourself, amazing aura around you in everything you are doing , thanks for sharing, great inspiration, have safe trips and fantastic adventures. Much love and blessings.
Wow, thank you!
It's nice having Emma doing the narration. Great job!
She's a pro!
I could have listened to the Sax player forever, my favourite instrument.Great episode guys, well done Teal
Stay safe, hope the hurricane misses you guys!
We are 1,500 nm's south of Hurricane Hilary in a safe place.
saxophone player was excellent
So Good!
11:50 That was, at the same time, the most adorable and funniest thing I've seen in a long time. 😂
Lol, I get so excited to see exotic fruit randomly growing from a tree. Teal and Emma have to keep me from picking it. 😂
Compass steals the show!
Lol, he was super cute trying to help us. 😊
Great sax player and the meal looked amazing. As always Teal is the consummate professional in everything he does on th boat
Thanks guys! Near missed the episode, the thumbnail didn’t “pop” Oh well.. love your wiring Teal.. start with perfection., and you will never have a rats nest that you can’t diagnose and issue because you don’t know what cable does..
Thanks Trev!
I love watching you do electrical. It's my therapy ; )
safe travels
A another GREAT video, nice work on your projects.
A dress up outing is always important for a hard working family.
So true! On occasion, we like to get dressed up for a nice dinner.
I am impressed with all the skills you all have, amazing!
Thank you so much 😀! We are learning everyday as we tackle one project at a time. Cheers!
EZ-snap for the Shades
Agree! Those would be nice. Unfortunately, we have had a difficult time sourcing them in Mexico.
Hurricane close by, stay alert and safe!
We are south of Hilary and in a safe place.
You have an amazing family and team to get the jobs done .
Awesome
Thank you for the video
Our pleasure!
I would love the Shushi, big fan.
Linh, you're shrinking 😸
And getting younger all the time. 🙂
Thanks for the love Gene! XO
You keep your boat in immaculate shape! There are some other boating channels where I wouldn't want to step on board without wearing a containment suit.
Lol, we completely understand. I think a clean and organized boat is important since there are 3 1/2 of us on top of each other and we feel less stress when there is less clutter and chaos.
Stay safe. Hilary is rolling in this weekend.
We are on a safe place 1,200 nm's southeast of Hurricane Hilary.
Teal, Linh, Emma and Compass, sending prayers and positive thoughts your way that you'll be safe through this Cat 4 hurricane.
Thank you for your concern and we are luckily out of harm's way. Praying Hilary won't destroy too much in her path.
Teal, have you thought about adding some sort of device to keep that cigarette lighter plug for the portable fridge locked in place? Maybe just a velcro strap attached to the hull and wrapping around the plug.
Had not considered it. The plug seems to lock in tightly.
I thought the same thing if in rough seas and getting bounced around.
Good morning. Yay for completed projects! And for almost completed ones. Every time I see you ladies lugging around something like that refrigerator, I'm impressed just how strong and capable you are.
Teal, Nice work on the install. You can power your Starlink directly with DC. It will save a fair amount of electricity. An over-landing channel call Everlanders did a pretty good video on the process.
Linh and Emma, You guys looked great going out for sushi.
I agree that that would be more efficient but getting the parts and pieces to make that happen in Mexico is somewhat of a logistical challenge. We opted for the Smaller inverter because we had the inventory on basik to make it happen.
Another great video. We live in West Hollywood, so be safe in the hurricane that you're probably dealing with now.
Holy Miracle-Gro, Batman! When did Emma get so much taller than Linh?
A year or two ago.🙂
Hotel California on sax ? Pretty good 😃
Yes it was!
so cool to fabricate new things!! such talent!!good team work!!
I see hurricane Hillarys headed your way. Please be safe. Find a good anchor. I just stay in the marina. See you guys next week. Oh by the way I really love the jazz saxophone playing while you guys had your dinner. Very cool.
We are in a very safe place far from Hilary.
I so enjoy watching your videos and wait each weekend for your new episodes. Only problem with them is I wish they were longer 😉 Anyway…
I don’t know if you address this in this video, only just started watching it but very concerned for you all.. It seems you’re in or near the path of hurricane Hilary. Please give us all an update. God bless you all 4 🙏💕🐾
We are in a safe place almost 1,300 nm's south of Hurricane Hilary...and thanks for checking in.
That’s great news, thank you for responding so quickly! ☺️
Great video as usual!
Not sure if you know, but your IAS hasn’t been working for over Three months.
Good to start the day with you guys.
Another interesting episode
Thanks!
Let’s see, Linh sewing or Teal wiring electrical ? Boat work continues.
OK, when did Emma get so tall... where have I been....
A couple of years ago. 🙂
Great vid as usual. Watch out though, there is a hurricane heading your way 😮
We are in a safe place south of the storm. Hurricane Hilary formed just north of us and is currently 1,200 nm's away.
12:03 the moment I was starstruck by Linh's see-through dress
where you headed for hurricane , seen this ,you,ns are first thing come to my mind
We are well south of Hurricane Hilary in a safe place.
No "back" on the stool in the Nav Station. Over time Teal, this "could" have a detrimental effect on your spine, unless you are meticulous with your posture. Great show, have been subscribed almost from the start - Best wishes from Australia.
Someone got dyslexic on the Episode Number🥴😲😁 :ie 236 should be 263! Love your Vids...
Wow! did not catch that...thanks!🤫
9:09 That wasn't really the best time to be asking if it will fit through the door.😛
Teal, what brand connectors are you using?
Great job by the way. :)
www.fisheriessupply.com/marine-electrical-supplies/wiring?loc=product_type:connectors&terms=ancor%20marine
Hotel California.
Nice job on the boat and electrical system. What type of freezer do you have and is it enough for your family?
I hope you guys are gonna be safe during Hillary!
They are way south of where it started.
The nice thing about electrical work is the very short cleanup! Nice job Teal!
Go, team basik!
good work Teal and Linn and Emma . Did I see correctly that Emma is taller than Mother . the greetings from the Netherlands
She's been taller for a long time. 🙂
🙈🙈
I am still waiting on my growth spurt to kick in.....I'm a late bloomer. Lol
A slight relaxation of installation standards, when compared to more permanent wiring methods. Teal still hoping to get that monstrosity off the boat? Zero chance of it falling overboard where it's located now.
Teal, have you considered transition over a period to a more versatile 24 volt or 48volt DC system over time. An electrical engineer maybe of some assistance to develop a plan in this area
No interest at this time. Basik's electrical system is running smooth so it's hard to think about drastic changes.
What make is that little fridge freezer?
It's a Vitrifrigo VF65P and we love it!

Thank you. John 5:24
I'm curious when the new headsail & new spinnaker is going to be installed and used. :-)
Cheers,
M-
We're not quite ready yet for that. Still waiting on some parts to complete that project. Linh is anxious for this to happen so we can sail faster.
Emma is growing into a very beautiful young woman.
April! Lol
Nice work as usual Teal and crew. Question: Instead of a small dedicated inverter, is there any way to power the Starlink equipment directly from DC since it probably rectifies incoming AC to DC anyway? That would save the inefficiency of the inverter.
I had the same question. Also what is the savings between the larger inverter and the smaller inverter. I understand that over 24 hours this could add up…. Great and interesting video as always!!
@@danielculpepper8772 Inverting DC to AC is quite inefficient by design. Inverters give up a lot of energy to heat. The larger capacity inverter will waste more energy in headroom that is not delivered to any load if only a small load is demanded. So in this instance, if the Starlink is their only constant AC load, running the larger capacity inverter with no other AC loads, will result in some of the extra capacity of the larger inverter wasted as heat, even with no other AC loads. I may not have answered your question if you were simply asking what the difference is in wattage or what magnitude of savings is.
I agree that that would be more efficient but getting the parts and pieces to make that happen in Mexico is somewhat of a logistical challenge. We opted for the Smaller inverter because we had the inventory on basik to make it happen.
RUclips no longer allows viewing videos on devices that use ad-blocker plus. Bummer - sorry to be missing out on your project & adventures. It was fun while it lasted.
Thank you. PS: Now I'm wondering if I might be able to watch directly from your website, without having to remove the ad-blocker. :0/
Sorry you can't watch our videos because of the ads. Just a quick note, the ads are how we get paid from RUclips. We make these videos for free for you to watch, but the advertisers pay us a small amount to be mixed into our videos very similar to normal TV but at a much lower scale.
Another solution for you would be to get RUclips Premium. It costs me $12.65 a month and I get ad free content and the content creator still gets paid for my views. Plus, there are other benefits and it works on all devices.
Correction. I forgot that the price for individual plans just went up by $2.00 a month. I've had it for many years and this is the first increase I've ever seen. Also, it you are on Apple devices, don't get it through the Apple store. Get it direct in RUclips. Through the Apple store it will cost, I believe, 30% more.
You wouldn't have a link for the refrigerator and the Acurite. I can't find the fridge and the Acurite website doesn't show what you have for monitoring your temps.
If you scroll down through the comments you'll find at least a couple who asked the same question about the refrigerator where they answered with a link to it.
What refrigerator was that? Thanks Gals
www.suremarineservice.com/Galley/Portable-Refrigerator-Freezers/VF65P.html
Thanks you gals Rock! Teal too.
Emma, seems like you have grown a few more inches over your Mother. lol Teal, as always very nice work. Like the clean look.
That would be 4-5/8" so far...and still growing!
Now you need a bigger panel since all the slots are full!! Stay safe from Hillary.
Donate for a Dream
Hoping and praying that Hilary doesn’t effect you. 🐻🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hilary formed just north of us. We are in a safe place.
Hope sv basik won't encounter hurricane Hillary? (Hope I got that name correct)..
Hurricane Hilary formed north of us and was never a threat.
Hello why you did not convert starlink in flat version with 12v ? would be easier.
I agree that that would be more efficient but getting the parts and pieces to make that happen in Mexico is somewhat of a logistical challenge. We opted for the Smaller inverter because we had the inventory on basik to make it happen.
@@OnboardLifestyle Sure both works. The flat modification is very nice and safe during big wind période. On a catamaran it is easy to find the suitable place.
Have good week and recover.
Hey Guys Great Vids and hello from downunder. Hey whats the rough monthly cost of living such a great life?
Hey Craig! Monthly costs really depends on what you are doing. If you anchor out and avoid marinas, do your own repairs, don't eat out much, you can keep your expenses down to almost nothing. We watch what we spend on things and have been able to find a happy middle where our monthly costs are pretty low.
You didn't say "thickened epoxy" even once.
👍👍
🙏🙏
You know I tried the “I’m injured “ but my wife said, get your lazy butt on those boat projects. So, how did you get your ladies to do so much work?
It's all in the delivery 😉
You all okay????
We are more than okay! We decided to push south this year, so we are far from Hilary.
@@tealgoben1781 phew, I was concerned. Thanks so much for letting me know. Hugs for all.💕
I see your new outlet is a 20 amp outlet. Your wire is 15 amp wire so be careful. I know that cause I just bought a new 20 amp outlet that has that new 20 amp plug style. also 15 amp max means 12 amp continuous load so both plugs can only do 12 total unless you upgrade that wire to 12 gauge.
No worries, I installed a 15a breaker on the board to insure that the circuit is never overloaded.
Here is some Algorithm love!
🙏
Whoohoo! Thanks!
Are you prepared for the hurricane?
They are way south of the hurricane.
We are 1,250 miles SE of Hurricane Hilary in a safe place.
👍🧿
Are you being effected by the hurricane?
We are far south of Hurricane Hilary in a safe place.
Glad to hear
link to the freezer?

👍
🙏
Teal, as meticulous as you are, I am shocked you don't line up all the screw heads in the panel.
Teals projects-can you say extreme organization! Fun to watch 👍. Stay safe and healthy y’all ⛵️🇺🇸
@cal82252😂🤣🤣 So true!
Better be careful Teal, the more these girls learn the less important you will be!
But just think 🤔 the more they learn the safer I am.
when are you guys actually going to sail to marcasis? hanging out in mexico is starting to get monotonus. leave the dock dude
Don't worry, by the end of this year we will have been to multiple countries other than Mexico. And FYI, in the first six months of this year, basik sailed 2,013 nm's dropped the hook in 41 anchorages and only touched 4 docks(all maintenance stops).
That's right. They should sail to someplace that you want to see and on your schedule. How rude of them to waste time going to places that interest them and on their schedule.
Guess he told you!😂
👍👍👍
