Seize Your Opportunities

  • In this week's video I show how I try to make the most out of the brief windows of opportunity we sometimes have for photography. Whether it's due to bad conditions, work demands or family commitments, we often find ourselves too busy to go out and take photos. But sometimes, grabbing just 30 minutes with your camera can be enough to help you reconnect with your images.
I shot these images with the new Fujifilm X100 VI. If you're interested in this camera then stick around as I have more planned with it.

I tend to hibernate for much of the Winter, only popping out occasionally if there's a break in the weather. By this time, I find myself itching to get out again and reconnect as you say. This morning I got out and captured a few local churches and countryside photo's just to ease myself back into it. Lovely :-)

Nice! Did it feel good to get back out with your camera?

You are missing so much. Get out on overcast, misty and rainy days for some very moody compositions, especially monochrome. :)

@@AndrewLanxonPhotography Yes it did indeed - photography is not my only hobby but I always feel the benefit of a break. I also got my motorbike out of its Winter storage but the battery was flat! :-)

@@bernym4047 I do get out sometimes in the darker months - I do a lot of macro mushrooms and some street photography but I just hate the cold now that I'm getting on a bit :-)

Hello Andrew , What a lovely calm video production with some simple imagery that works so very very well. I have subcribed and will be sure to follow your channel. In the interim period did you process your images from RAW or use one of the Fuji JPEG film simulations , if so which one ? Thank you, Adam

Loving the street photography centered videos lately. Andrew there is a great channel on youtube by "paulie b" called "walkie talkie" where he interviews ny city street photographers. Its a fantastic series full of inspirational interviews and images. I defintely would love a nice smaller compact camera to have on you that can even fit in your pocket. Sucks lugging my big heavy dslr around all the time. Great video! Short and sweet!

Thanks Jamey! I watched quite a lot of the Walkie Talkie series. Often some great insights into how other photographers approach street photography and some great scenes of New York -- definitely a city I want to try and photograph at some point! I'd be interested to see how some of these same photographers (including Paulie B) get on with street photography in European cities like Edinburgh or London. Have you looked at any of Fuji's smaller mirrorless cameras like the XT-30? Nice compact bodies and you can get really tiny lenses that make them great for always having on you. Plus you can pick them up quite cheaply on the used market.

Yes! That would be interesting for sure. As a Canadian it would be a dream to come to Scotland/England on a photography trip! I was looking at the xt30!! 👀 or even an older fuji x100. Cant afford either at the moment lol. Dude you are the reason I bought a macro lense! Love your channel!

I realise the X100 series are small cameras (USP?) but would an XT5 + 23mm lens not be a better combo to carry around? And yes, getting out is important. Somehow this year it seems more important than ever for some reason.
