I know the show is supposed to be about her character growth and finding her way back to science but god, the snippets and bits of her cooking series looked so fun. I wouldn’t have minded just an entire episode dedicated to that. Then again, I love cooking mangas and animes so I’m biased haha

Big fan, but based on the trailer, I didn't think I would like this series.
Wow, was I wrong!! First two episodes were Awesome! Brie is amazing!
Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Yay! I'm so happy for you! 🎉 Trailers are sometimes or more than that difficult and try to draw in as many vierwers as possible. They are 2 minutes long, they feature music and usually feature big lines and a montage of different moments. The show is very calm and just good drama.
I like that the episodes last 45+ minutes. It doesn't feel that long to be honest. Although not even too much is happening, this show makes me feel something. I love that the show takes its time.
I'm supporting Brie no matter what. I'm especially happy that I like this show. I became a Brie Larson Superfan just early this year and "had to" watch all movies of her (which was a very mixed bag and more than often disappointing because Brie got just small roles most of the time) and even "United States Of Tara" which I don't like much. While I enjoy watching Brie outside of her movies, often it was not worth investing my time for a bad movie with few moments of Brie. 😂🫨

It's so awesome that now we can watch Brie every week until The Marvels hits theatres. 🩷🥹
I've already watched the first two episodes and I really liked it. The first episode was a typical first episode with slow pace for introducing the audience into the world of the show. But I felt almost immediately at home in the 1950s, I like this setting, it's a refreshing change from your usual tv show era.
Brie plays a very interesting character that thinks, acts and is quite different than your average person of the 1950s. It's fun to watch Brie in a dramatic role and in the 2nd episode, we finally get some smiling from Elizabeth Zott. I'm very proud that Brie not only plays the leading role (her co-partner is very likeable) but is also an executive producer. Although this show is very different from her work for Marvel, it's a great vehicle to showcase her different interests and talents. 🎉❤

It's important, SBG, that you pointed out Brie's executive producer status. One of the criticisms of Brie is that her work isn't more prolific (compared to, say, Samuel Jackson). In the role of executive producer Brie is involved with the *entire* *production* from start to finish- which consumes an enormous amount of time as opposed to just learning a script. In the community section I posted about how Brie was involved with something as basic as the design of the 'Supper At Six" set on the show, something Brie would have had no input on if she was just portraying the lead character. The original design for the set was something Brie loved...but Brie pointed out that was the problem. The set wasn't as stereotypical of the time period.

@@drednaut5053 I honestly don't really know what an executive producer does. But it makes sense, as you mention, that Brie was heavily involved in making the show. Which is a fantastic opportunity for her. She has been doing a similiar thing for her "Unicorn Store" movie, where she was as far as I heard her talking about it involved in every process and she had to direct the movie on top of that. That's honestly to be super impressive. Not saying that acting isn't hard. But having to be the boss and having to take care of not everything but many things at once and being responsible etc., that's not for everyone.
Honestly, people not thinking Brie's work or career isn't prolific is one of my least concerns. People me included have been wondering what Brie is doing career-wise, I even found an article where someone asked that exact question, because she rarely plays leading roles, she basically stopped playing dramatic roles when Room and Short Term 12 are generally considered her best performances and she received awards for that.
I don't have a real explanation but I don't care. Brie is taking on kinda random projects and she's branching out and does not only act but direct, produce etc., and she's very sucessful with that. I mean, her Oscar win was almost 8 years ago and 2023 could be or will be one of her most impressive years (Fast X, The Marvels, Lessons in Chemistry) of her entire career. She seems to be happy and she doesn't have to rely on just acting. Despite all the hate surrounding her, Brie is in demand. She's very smart and I'm super happy that she can live of being in the film industry when she was a low-paid strugging disappointed actress until her mid 20s.
