The R sound helps you speak the American English❤

Wow, @BipolarBear_pen15! That is very kind of you to say :) Thank you so much for your comment - it made my day!
I’m from Mexico. The sound of the letter R is very different. This video helped me a lot. Thank you.
Awesome! Thanks so much for your comment, @alicepalace3585! I'm so glad this video helped you with the American R sound!
From the Midwest in America here. I don't always round my lips when making the R sound. Sometimes I pull my lips back, but the toungue placement is key
Hi @nabe4007 - Thanks for your comment! There is a lot of variability with how native speakers pronounce the R sound, and you're completely right that sometimes the lips might not round as much when you say it. But as long as you have the right tongue placement, it shouldn't matter a whole lot :)
What a beautiful explanation ❤
Great, Bill! I'm so glad you found this video helpful :)

I can produce sound R only with tongue tip going up (retroflex tong) no matter how hard I try; sound R is produced by friction between the tong tip and the roof of the mouth in my technique.
Could you please explain where actual ‘R’ sound is produced in bunched tongue technique. Is it produced between back of the tong and the roof of the mouth?
Hi @bogdan_1927 - Thanks for your question! Yes, I pronounce the bunched R between the middle/back of the tongue and the roof of the mouth. I hope this helps! :)
she is good
Thanks, @Dorime34! I'm glad you like my teaching style! :)

How about turtle?
Hi thealtbutton - Thanks for your question! I think you're asking if the "r" in "turtle" is a consonant R or a vowel R (??) The "r" in "turtle" is a vowel R, the ER /ɝ/ vowel. :)
Hi
Hi Zafran!

Upside down R
Hi Vladislavs - Yep! That's the correct IPA symbol of the American English R /ɹ/ :)

Hii
Hello, Ramesh!
One question: According to this video ruclips.net/video/TB4NwEXE2_o/видео.html the /Z/ sound at the end of words sounds like a very soft /S/ sound, is that true?
Hi Ney - Thanks for your question! I'd be happy to give you my thoughts on this topic at my next live English class called English Pro Live. You can learn how to join the class here: courses.sandiegovoiceandaccent.com/courses/english-pro-live
My lips only very rarely purse like that when i say r's.
You look like you're [yer] whistling.
Very interesting! Thanks so much for your comment :)
Huh
Hi Linette - Thanks for your comment! :)
French people will have a very bad time doing that training 😂
This is definitely possible! The R sound is challenging for many non-native speakers, French speakers included. Thanks for your comment :)
