Well done. I converted many toy grade cars and boats to hobbygrade too. Sometimes even switched the standard motor to brushless on boats. Converted micro tanks to hobbygrade as well with super small rc equipment. It just gives much more joy when you have proportional control. Most conversions were made for my nephews to get them more control thus more joy with their toys. Two jetboats I converted for myself ( nqd tear into). Fun little sprint jetboats (that are no fun at all out of the box. Most of them are so poorly assembled that water will come in pretty fast and if you would let it float for half an hour It would sink). Standard there is no speed at all. Not even planning. And ofcourse the standard shitty radiosystem without proportional control and without good reach. But after conversion it is heaps of fun when you have the power to try to climb little rapids in moumtainstreams.
Rastar has a nice range of scale-realistic RC vehicles at 1:14 scale that are all officially licensed and would make great projects for hobby grade conversions. They are relatively easy to take apart so you just have to weigh up whether the cost of the conversion is justified. Yes, the use of fully-proportional controls improves the driving experience but even with hobby grade electronics, you will still have basic and largely ineffectual suspension. So, beware if you intend to fit a brushless motor and increase the speed. I have reviewed quite a few Rastar models on my channel and there are plenty of different SUV's available. Alternatively, you could pick a supercar but with these you are more limited by the driving surface due to very low ground clearance.
great idea, as too many vehicles look like toys, and drive like toys, so very easy to overlook when deciding to get something like a car, pickup, or something. think the steering sensitivity should be to the same percentage on the controller for both sides, so that the turning radius isn't different between left and right. even though the stopper is a good indicator of that, but with some toys you do find a different turning circle, so might be worth looking up, depending on the quality of manufacturing as well.
I upgraded my sons Bugatti to hobby grade electric a few years back. I left the stock motor in it and it’s super quiet. I bet yours will burn the tires off being brushless!!
This is excellent, such a beautiful vehicle , I’m tempted to buy it , it’s £28 here in the U.K. 🇬🇧 I built a Tamiya Hornet & Nova Fox few months ago , and just bought the Neo Fighter DT03 , I’ve got some upgrades to do on it …. But hey I think il buy this in white and possibly do what you’ve done .
Hi Bob. I'm in the UK and I cannot locate a Rastar Range Rover in Black anywhere. Would you have any suggestions. If you get a chance could you do the same to a Black Range Rover maybe with the sound and light unit ? Once again great work. Thanks.
Hello, only to know if the same car can fit a tamiya 370 sport tuned motor, and if that can drainage the battery fast, I use alkaline 1.5v 3200 mah, thank you.
I was wondering if i could to the same with a Kid Galaxy Pro Series Rock Climber Off Road 2.4Ghz RC Truck 4-wheel Drive and if yes what would i need Thank you in advance
Hi Bob, I've seen some of your videos and I rebuild this AMG G63 similar of yours. I I've bought the same FlySky FS i6 an have a reveiver FS-IA6B and want to use the USM-RC3 with iBUS. But I don't get it in interaction with this RC. I' ve put the parch-cable into "i-BUS-servo" and in the i-BUS Setup (remote control) I have to choose a channel between 1 and 6 an then "Press the correpondimg servo interface button". Is this the update button on the receiver, right of the LED above the lettering? Perhaps, You can help me or You have a video (which I don't have discover yet). Nice greetings from Germany.
Rastar has a couple of different designs. Can you see a small centre cap on the wheel? If so you need to remove it and there will be a screw underneath. Alternatively, the whole wheel cover could be snapped into place. Look at the wheel from behind and you will see if there are tabs on the back. Check my Bugatti Divo "reverse engineering" video and you will see what I mean.
Would it be fine to use a 20A ESC? i cant find beier's MFR-1210 in the amazon sales in the country i live in and really dont wanna pay extra for just a brushed ESC.
Can you covert my Rastar 1:14 LaFerrari in to like a drift RC with brushless motor? I'm serious I'll send it to you you can do anything with it and feature it in your channel. Thanks let me know.
I think it's not very hard, you need a remote control, receiver, esc, gyro, servo and wheels. The steering angle need to improve. You don't need brushless to drift unless you are professional.
So I have 2 Newbright monster trucks my sons love but the batteries are terrible and I want to put a servo in for the steering and want to upgrade the motors- my question is I’ll need a new gear box? For the motor to power the truck - any suggestions? I’m really new to this - just want to upgrade the trucks for fun love the project I know cost wise it doesn’t make sense but would love to see the trucks moving again.
Bob, your work is simply amazing. Love your work ethic, your cheerful presentation and your overall enthusiasm for the hobby. Keep ‘em coming!
great video Bob, you make it so very clear and easy, just love it

I find it always more satisfying to build your own concepts than a stock rtr purchase good video 👍🏼

Hi Bob, great vid again! looking forward to the Beier version. your work with Beier stuff is excellent.
It's simply the best sir. I loved it. Take care always
Great job. Just beginning to convert some toy cars to hobby.
Amazing work my friend 👏 well done...great inspiration thank u 👍
Nice work! Thank you for good video!
Very cool video and information. Looking forward to seeing iteration #2 on the white version.

I have done a bunch. They are easy to convert and look great with the Tamiya trucks.
I could see swapping out with some WPL running gear/suspension to make a neat crawler.
@@G_de_Coligny maybe just use the body on WPL chassis would be better 😂
The goal here was an easy upgrade anyone can do.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC you’re right. Sorry for that.
Don't be sorry - it is a darn good idea. Might be something for me to look at with the Jeep Wrangler.......
I would be tempted to see if I could fit a pair oi 18650 batteries in it
Could you do that with die cast ones?
Awesome
THE PAUSE AT THE BEGININGGGG ITS REALLLLLL anyways great video im planning to buy one now

Hey nice video but I have a request could you make the same video for 1:14 Rastar Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang Cobra RC Car Dual Power Rechargeable (Red)

Where have you bought it?
How do I get the back wheels off the rastar Bentley Continental GT convertible

I am sure any good small ESC would work fine.

Are you going to sell the rastar
I don't sell them. Check Amazon or eBay. Seems like the models they have are always changing.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC I’m looking to load them on my car carrier. I’m looking to do all of the same cars
$100 spent on a $10 car ?
A good body is worth it's weight in gold!
