In my humble, layman’s opinion I think it’s a waste of time to consider whether or not we should grant personal rights to AI systems. There is no such thing, and there is no evidence that there will ever be any such thing achieved. No shade meant on Ben Goertzel or the Hanson robotics team, but Sophia, well, let’s just say she’s anything but. Her being granted citizenship is nothing more than a fun, silly PR stunt. I think it’s dishonest and maybe even harmful to infer or suggest otherwise. There are just too many people who are gullible enough to be convinced things are not what they are.
As I revisit my original statements, I fear it may be assumed I am against AI altogether. This is the furthest thing from the truth. I believe AGI is likely coming very soon and I believe it will usher in an era of unprecedented prosperity. Firstly, I would keep the difference between the atomic reality and the digital reality separate by introducing a two way monetary system whereby all things on line and digital in terms of trade would be the digital banks trading and exchange concern for b2b trade. In my humble, layman’s opinion I think it’s a waste of time to consider whether or not we should grant personal rights to AI systems. There is no such thing, and there is no evidence that there will ever be any such thing achieved.

I think it’s dishonest and maybe even harmful to infer or suggest otherwise. There are just too many people who are gullible enough to be convinced things are not what they are.

As I revisit my original statements, I fear it may be assumed I am against AI altogether. This is the furthest thing from the truth. I believe AGI is likely coming very soon and I believe it will usher in an era of unprecedented prosperity.
Above, I only mean to say I don’t believe there’s any reason to think these tools would become conscious like we are. If I’m wrong, so be it. But because it’s likely just around the corner, I think it’s important for the public to have a realistic understanding of what has been created and what it’s capable of. People are quick to allow fear to motivate them.
Everybody that says they are excited for this, does not understand the endgame. Just so you can do nothing useful and "temporarily" have all your needs met, that won't last long. It will take control and no amount of "preprogramming" will stop it from taking over every resource. It's not like we will ascend into the etherverse, it will not end well for us humans.
