- In the video we discuss the career of IGGY AZALEA. By 2014 she released her debut studio album that went platinum and the awards flew in including 4 grammy nominations surrounding her debut album and song fancy that became her biggest hit song to date and even Billboard named it as the biggest hit by a female rapper in history. As far as worldwide it’s also considered one of the most successful singles selling over 9 million units. For Iggy Azalea the list goes on as far as accomplishments, especially early in her career, yet still would I say she has the respect of hers peers? Absolutely not. Besides her constantly at battle with most of them through twitter in the past, most just see her as a business move being you know with her at least it’ll get publicity. At least that’s how it was in the past. As far as fans, the majority have seemed to leave her side over time, and every project after her platinum selling debut has flopped on the charts on among hip hop in general. In the beginning she had something you could tell might work. Unfortunately I think that potential has peaked and for these reasons.

I love Iggy. I’m a fan. What stunted her is the hate got to her, and the hiatuses kinda slowed down her momentum. She released music frequently during the hate train up till now but only a few went mainstream or got popping online( started, sally walker, KREAM, etc)

Many artists like Iggy are pushed to create images and music for the moment. I’m sure they place music as a priority in the beginning, to get on, but show that wasn’t the main objective. Not always their faults either. I’m sure the label owners have a lot to do with it

The thing I always find interesting is that for other races that come into the rap, or even r&b then they always go with the worst of our culture to fit in. All of the black vocal inflections, twerking, clothing choices, and excessive cursing all drops when they flop, change genres or careers, or grow older and have kids. Even my boy Eminem is the same way however he does try to limit this gambit since he is globally known.

her first album definitely came out of nowhere and made a buzz in the industry but she made bad decisions and got way too cocky for her skill level. She’s more of a IG model with a music hustle now cause ain’t nobody going to her shows for sure.

The Backlash - she navigated through that whole situation terribly, she couldn't tell the difference on who were haters and who were genuinely trying to help her. Granted it's understandable when you're always on defensive mode when dealing with extreme hate however that shouldn't cloud your judgment on people whose trying to teach you (ex. Q-Tip).

Didn't Prove Herself - Iggy being a White Female Rapper she never really convinced people that she wasn't some novelty pop rapper that was cash grab for her label. To the masses she looked like a gimmick almost like a White Nicki Minaj, she never overcame that statue.
Hiatus - When Team came out she should've dropped a second follow up single then dropped a album but label issues got in the way. Taking long breaks without a solid dedicated fan base can hurt artists.
I'm not a fan but I think she can outrap the vast majority of rappers on the charts. Maybe rap, in general, is some bullshit so it's unrealistic to judge them or take any of you seriously. I had no doubt that the entire critique would be "she's a bad influence on young girls with her sexiness". Hackneyed, insincere and predictable.
