I wouldn't say no one at work. The people he worked with, side by side, were not the ones who made the decision to fire him. It was corporate level people who did this. The most valuable lesson to learn from this is that corporations in America hold all the cards and workers have no rights. @@KufLMAO Yes most states are at will.....but there are limitations. Firing someone for claiming workman's comp or for whistleblowing would be considered an illegal termination. Which is why most corporations require that human resources OK the termination of any employee. Since the manager didn't mention the termination to the mom, only had the police tell the mom after the altercation (which is most assuredly *not* a corporate approved way of terminating employment,) it certainly sounds like the manager did the firing on the spur of the moment. Are KFC's franchised? If franchised, then the manager wouldn't need the approval of human resources, but it still sounds like a spur-of-the-moment decision that will open the KFC up to a lawsuit. There's nothing wrong with making friends with your coworkers. Just don't expect management to ever have your back. They work with the company's best interest in mind, not yours.
I wouldn't say no one at work. The people he worked with, side by side, were not the ones who made the decision to fire him. It was corporate level people who did this. The most valuable lesson to learn from this is that corporations in America hold all the cards and workers have no rights. The laws are written to screw the little guy and at no time in our modern history (last 110 years or so) has it ever been this bad. Without a union, this guy has only one option and that would be to sue KFC, which probably would do little good.

👍
There is a reason why all companies, even in at-will-states, carefully document the reasons why they are terminating someone.
@thelogicaldanger it sounds like they just fired him without telling him which prompted his mom to confront them to find out. Happened to me. Companies aren't obligated to inform you of your employment status unfortunately. But they are obligated to pay you what you're owed.

Once again you wonder why people dont help. No good deed goes unpunished.
You were a blessing to your coworker, Drew.
This world is upside down, but we can right it by standing up for what is right.
We can’t be passive and live in a bubble, anymore.
God bless you!
when drew was born god took one look and said yep, there's another destined to work in kfc or maccys

@@spudspuddy That’s some other god. There are many lower case deities.
God, our Creator, gave each of His children gifts, talents, and a purpose.

The last person I'd expect to step up and be a hero is this soft spoken young man, just proves that you never judge a book by it's cover. As a Marine, I'm proud to say he's a hero in my eyes.
My only question is, where do we send money to him as a personal reward for his actions?
The Lord will take care of that. I don’t think he has a go fund me yet.
We both know he’s very blessed.

Fired to avoid workmen comp for a wild dramatic Incident.
Of blood and gore.
Fire an employee to avoid Workmen’s Comp. is against the law
Everyone must have missed the workers comp paperwork statement? If he was wanting workers comp then, most definitely they are going to let him go. If he wasn't injured then, no need for it, if it was emotional trauma then, ask for a leave and seek therapy talk to a lawyer. And go from there.
BOYCOTT KFC🤬 SHAME ON THEM!
I do. There food is the result of bathroom nightmares. I was crazy sick and i wont go back
Yea you should make the signs
KFfC is BOYCOTTED in our home!!
I'm going to call their corporate office in Indiana and tell them I'm boycotting them until they rectify this situation. Shameful.
iv been doing that for years there gross
As an Indianapolis Local, Beach Grove is a horrid place in the city. Not through any fault of it's own, but there are a lot of working class poor and meth addicts there. The fact that this young man saved a person's life, and is now fired because of it. The corporation needs to investigate this general manager.
That’s because you live in a gentrified Republican state with zero respect for the poor. I’ve seen it while visiting relatives and it’s disgusting
You make it sound like working and being poor is some kind of character flaw, when you lump them in with meth heads. Decent working people do not bring down a neighborhood. At least they are working and are not lazy and living off others.
They don't want to pay him for any injury that he received helping out a co-worker. Disgusting
His mother shouldn't have gotten involved. Things got so heated between her and his manager that she had to call the police? Sounds like she's the reason he was let go. Let him take care of his own business next time.
Obviously WAY more to this story than we are being told. Fella is a brave soul and deserves much better. No doubt he will find it.
Def. way more to the story.
What did he do to "Save" the person? How about that for a start. lol
We don't know anything about it. No comment from management either, just the mom. The one that got into a heated argument with the manager.
Why did the son need workers comp? Didn't say he was injured.
@@randycnyprobably filed work comp due to it being a traumatic event and citing emotional distress.
@@Tara-cw6zu It says he filed a workers comp claim. Probably fired in retaliation.
Right, that's why I gave my opinion on what he filed the claim for in terms of "injury", not the reason. He was fired after he made the WC claim so that wouldn't be for retaliation. He was fired as retaliation for filing a claim. @@krystleklearcentral
@vaughn6371 .....I agree. Looks like there is more to the story. While we understand that he administered CPR, we don't know the details of the situation. Could it be that other that the CPR which apparently saved a co-worker, did the employee do anything else that might have caused harm to the other employees. Perhaps, it was not about the CPR but may have been another action he took at the same time.
