I personally really like kemono fursuits! Not only are they super cute, but I also really like seeing variety in fursuit styles. Obviously western suits are still amazing, but it’s nice to see unique styles every now and then.

Ive always been into the concept of fursuiting, but growing up on the internet and being friends with many furries (including my best friend), i rarely saw a fursuit style i really liked. The first time i saw a kemono suit it was like lightning struck in my breain. That!!! Thats it thats what ive always wanted!!!
I'll never be able to get it, but im glad they exist. I do hope more western fursuiters start learning how to make kemono suits eventually. I think theyd go very far if they were just more accessible

My dream suit is to be a Kimono style since my sona is in the kemono style :] only thing I am not sure about is the body style. My sona is a oriental dragon pomeranian bunnyrabbit. Already estimated mine to cost 8000 due to the over exaggerated bunny tail, jelly horns and huge stiff ears. Face is also a less popular kemono shape too. I'd be paying more around the cost of 11k for the suit @___@ my suit would Also need a lot of core modifications and be built with a a little bit of optical illusion or shadow puppetry being a long boi :0
Yeah kemono is the olympic sport of fursuits lol. takes a ton of both money and skill to do it right. but im sure you will do wonderfully!

Pretty solid overall! I've had my kemono suit for almost a year now so I'll throw in my observations and personal experience. Forgive me for the text wall!
I've noticed an increasing trend of more western availability from kemono suit makers (e.g. my maker, Mofumofu, as well as others like Seiji Ono, Doki, etc.) which has made it easier to see more and more kemono suiters across the US. I am surprised shipping was so much for you, as my maker somehow did 2 boxes for under $300 whereas my DTD to him was more than that via DHL-- shipping took about 3 weeks and routed thru Chicago down to my state in the southwest US... looking back at images, it was shipped via airline (China Post) and departed on June 7th. I am sure there was some insurance hijinks involved. This has me curious now and I am asking my friends what they spent for their shipping.
Base price for my suit was $3500, and including DTD + shipping, it would have been around $4500 (I spent a bit more for speed and other things). Paying international makers, particularly mainland Chinese producers, can be difficult. If they allow Paypal, there is usually a 5%'ish fee on top-- Alipay is sometimes preferred but that is not easy to use as a non-native unfortunately. I had a friend assist me in this endeavour, but I know services like Remitly can be used as well. The quality of the suit is phenomenal and well worth what I spent, especially given the difficulty of finding a western maker (Kemonokapi is one of the few I am aware of in NA) and the price being much higher as a result for comparable quality. One really cool thing to note is, without me even asking, my maker included 2 sets of paws (4 and 5-digit) and eyelid emotes. At the time, most of his commission info was in Chinese and not readily accessible in English, so I was very surprised and happy that he anticipated this.
Language barrier is always a fun consideration. I find most makers (especially those who do int'l commissions) to be very understanding and mindful of the translation gap. I was fortunate to have a friend who does Chinese-English translations and, by sheer chance, knew my maker since they lived near each other and had mutuals which made things easier at first since QQ is not an application that is easy to get access to in the west and I was not getting a hopeful response via Twitter DMs before asking my friend for assistance. Afterwards, my maker communicated via Twitter and Telegram and did not mind using English, although we both would clarify certain design decisions such as hair length, fur length, etc. if needed. In the year since I have had my suit, I have found him much easier to talk to as well as he uses Telegram and Twitter and has also added English translations to his webpage. I have also seen a pretty big increase of international suit siblings outside of CN, JP, and SK in the past year alone which feeds back into my earlier observation of kemono trends.
As for motion, it is more difficult than a plantigrade suit, but very much doable to be mobile and expressive in a kemono suit. I will point to Gintan (@FurryGintan), Kirby (@kirbyroe_) and many of the other dancers across different kemono suit lines that dance and jump around like nobody's business. If it's a question of in-suit endurance, I also know a K-line kemono suiter, Kuromaru, who uses a water-cooled wetsuit under his fursuit that allows him to suit for 6+ hours at a time, so there are very much solutions to some of the kemono trade-offs. HOWEVER, nothing will save you from the non-existent vision you are constraining yourself to in order to have that cute face and eye profile, so there's that. Regardless, you're generally left with a mouth fan and a prayer if you have dome follow-me eyes, as without sufficient airflow and anti-fogger, they will fog up. I know Seiji uses mesh eyes with a distinctive square iris shape that do not have this problem as a counterexample, and gain the benefit of more airflow thru the eyes. Be mindful of this when commissioning your maker.
Oh, and one final thing of note too: Different kemono suit makers make their heads out of different materials for the base. At FWA, one of my kemono friends went to hand me my fursuit head at the headless lounge and was surprised at how light it was, as it uses a foam base. He let me hold his fursuit head, which was done with a 3D printed base, and it was several times heavier. It is not something I really considered personally but I am sure it is something to be mindful of for the future.
A final little bonus thing is that kemonokapi has a construction method page on their website that details the design processes they use-- many of these are applicable to eastern kemono makers too and will give you an idea of what to expect.

sadly no, but ive heard alot of kemono makers poping up in the US and im glad to see it!
They ran a panel at FC-- fairly cordial people (I recall it being 2 or 3 people) and the quality of their work was solid. I'd recommend reaching out to them if you have any questions as they are fairly responsive.

Honestly this would be perfect for my Fursona considering he is a Japanese Dragon (not as in Noodle Dragon, rather he is a Dragon type i made up called Celestial Dragon which looks like a Western-Noodle Hybrid, he is Japanese cuz Japanese flag on wings, and also somewhat of a East Asian facial structure) yes i know this very much makes me a weeb, thou the problem arises that i only ever commissioned European Artists (considering i am in Europe it makes sense) so none of my Derg's art is in Anime artstyle.

I do! thats why around the 2:40 mark i say "the vast MAJORITY are from asian countries". But in comparison to the rest of the world there are very few in the US. so i geared this tutorial around the expirence my viewers are most likely to have! As for the making, if someone was looking to make a fursuit i would assume the search term they would use would be "how to MAKE a kemono fursuit" not "how to GET a kemono fursuit" so i did not include it. thanks for the comment!

what if i were to become a kemono fursuit maker here in america?
there are a few, but they are kinda rare, so getting a slot is pretty hard. but more suit kemono makers in the states means more kemono suits! so im always happy to hear it!
@@SeveredSundae I'm far from where I can be to start practicing making fursuits, I'm gonna get a new job that'll pay well and start off simple and slowly start adding more advanced things. I wanna do it for the fiscal rewards for doing fursuit kemmissions (badum tsss) but I also wanna do it for the kemmunity (badum tsss 2 electric boogaloo) and the creative process too. it took discovering kemono style to fully convert me into a furry, and I'm really excited to try my hand at making them.
I have found a good fursuit maker (even with presets what he or she can customize) from etsy for abt 2500$ to 3500$

Most kemono makers actually sell on Asian sites which are hard to access outside of Asia so they are not super talked about, I’m trying to say the site names but I think that’s what’s getting my comments axed rip

if you plan on being super active in suit than yes, however kemono is uncommon as a style so it stands out in a crowd. bit of a double edged sword
As Sundae explains in the vid, it's a specific style of fursuit that originates in some parts of Asia. They are also really expensive if you're not in Asia lol
