2:25- Not any more unfairly than the supporting cast in any other series before it. This franchise almost always does this. There will always be a point where the supporting cast gets the shaft, be it early on, nearing the end, somewhere in the middle, or in the case of the friends Yuma started with in Zexal, the entire runtime. Funny enough, they didn't start really giving the supporting cast great treatment until Sevens. It's the one thing that series does better than any other YGO show. It keeps the supporting characters relevant from start to finish, even giving the female lead a proper arc.
Blue Angel/Girl/Maiden was treated so unfairly. She lost too many duels, was severely underused, and always had a damsel in distress kinda vibe to her. Idk if the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime has a thing against female characters (primarily in Vrains), or genuinely do not know how to create a fulfilling arc with them, but it is really apparent that they had a disdain for them in Vrains. The character herself had a really good premise too, with Aoi (Skye) being this outgoing and charismatic duelist in the virtual world, but being this reserved and shy person in the real world. Kinda providing commentary on how our social media presence contrasts our real life one. Such a shame she did not get the treatment she deserved.
Sexism is rather prevalent in anime, especially shonen. Consistently capable female protagonists that aren’t overly sexualized, while they do exist, are few and far between. More often than not female characters tend to fill traditional gender roles or are very “male gaze” oriented. This isn’t the fault of any one creator, more like society as a whole.
@@CaptinHavoc1 Sexualization and sexism are not related ideas. For example, male protagonists are also often overly sexualized, but you wouldn't find anybody calling that sexism. Your sexually repressive mindset pointing ONLY toward women is more than a bit sexist though... I'm not a fan of your anti-women agenda.
#cope. Also like how the opposite is true in shojo yet no one calls out Shojo. Hmm. Almost like A) Double Standards. B) If you pull that on Shojo anime you will be met with heavy criticism and ridicule. While it's accepted to rip on Shounen.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 the two ideas are related. They aren’t one and the same, and it’s not like where there’s one the other is guaranteed. The other commenter conflated the two. That said, women tend to be sexualized more and tend to face sexism more than men (neither statement means men don’t deal with either).
@@dontmisunderstand6041 That is true, sexualization is not *inherently* sexist. However, women are sexualized far more frequently and to a far greater extent than men, and those sexualized women often (but not always) have less character outside of their bodies than the sexualized men. The original commenter also touched a lot on how women in Yugioh were often damsels in distress and lost very frequently on screen in comparison to men with similar screen time. While those in a vacuum aren’t inherently sexist, having it happen in a consistent pattern to women at a far greater frequency than men shows a wider opinion of women in society
I feel like the Number Archetype should be reserved for when the Number cards aren’t also in a specific archetype. For example, if he does a Utopia archetype or a Galaxy-Eyes archetype video, he would not have to do Numbers 39, 93, 99 ( both), 62, 90, 95, and 107 just to name a few. For the record, I too want to see a video on it as well.
I remember dueling Blue Angel in Yu-Gi-Oh Legacy of the Duelist, and this Trickstar monsters were annoying to deal with. Especially when I used an Exodia deck. She always had a way to have me get rid of a piece of Exodia, or a card a needed to help me win the duel.
Ironically enough, there's a theory that Konami made the Marincess deck as a way to copy Bushiroad's Bermuda Triangle clan, which is a clan full of Mermaid idols
TGS is right when saying that Trickstars are a good archetype, cause they are! But the one thing that Blue Angel suffered from was 2 things, 1. Bring a side character in a yuguoh show and 2. Her first duel was against the Mary Sue himself, Playmaker, the duelist incapable of losing lmao, she was destined to lose
Skye/Aoi was done SO dirty by the VRAINS anime that it's kinda frustrating, to be honest. Despite running what was, at the time, considered an extremely competitive deck she kept losing. The most frustrating loss for her was against Soulburner because like it or not, she had him dead to rights and would have won if not for him pulling a very spell designed specifically to counter Trickstar's burn damage.
Reminded of my mother's devious Doll deck she loved to utilize in Magic the Gathering years back. Purely an Artifact deck using the various Doll cards, her ace being a card called Creepy Doll, designed to tick away at the opponents life one at a time each turn while being borderline impossible to remove, just playing the long game, death by a thousand cuts. Showed her this and she gleefully agreed with the cutest and most devious cackle I've ever heard. XD
Trickstars don't have strong extra deck cards? Interesting. This is news to me. Though my only experience with them is through Legacy of the Duelist, I found that it was essentially impossible for me to win without establishing a board of trickstar extra deck monsters and then shutting down the enemy with battle phase shenanigans. The only point of Lilybell is to mass produce extra deck monsters, and Lycoris is the only main deck monster you really want on the field more than any of the links.
honestly, i think blue angel was treated a bit unfairly, but only on the ground of every other character running a theme deck meaning she should not have been countered that hard. were the decks more fluid, yeah burns can be easily dealt with, but she did not play to the level her video game counterpart can.
Taxstars is suprisingly easy to use. I recently got into Master Duel and it is probably the first deck I built from scratch (I got a Candina in my first 10 packs and the rest is history) and the only deck I use in ranked matches. Lycoris is really that annoying. She with Lightstage and a Darkroom deals 1k per draw.
This archetype needs more love, why did they do them dirty like that? I mean, they are not only cute and beautiful, there effects are not too strong and I feel that by combining other archetypes with them, they will be more powerful. If you all agree with me, then please like this comment.
Let’s hope the number archetype come sooner or later, I also like trick stars but the effect damage gets only worse as the duel continues, but overall good archetype
Tbf I'd say this brutal defeat of Blue Angel was kind of a grand finale to this psycho game Spectre played with her. To show how he basically destroyed her not only in duel, but also on a psychological level. Might have been a little over the top, but it fit the context. What is sad however is how she kept on losing. With every loss Aoi stood up again and tried to learn from it. She deserved some wins as a payoff for growing so much as a character. With that said...how about a video on Sunavalon? Spectre probably was my favourite character of this show. And I love this concept of growing a tree and spawning weird spirits and soldiers to protect it.
They did Trickstars so dirty in Duel Links too You would think they would at least give Blue Angel a skill to let her inflict 200 damage points BUT NOPE. Only holly angel... they didn't even gave her say, the field spell searcher as part of the skill or as a 1 off as her level 30 reward (even though her debut event showed the card is indeed programmed in the game)
Curious fact. And bit of an oversight with card design: Bella Madonna cannot benefit from Corobane or Sweet Guitar's effects. Corobane cannot be used unless Bella Madonna is pointing to a monster (which wont let her use her effect). If Bella Madonna points to Band Sweet Guitar she cant burn. Sweet guitar on paper doesnt seem bad, but has bad synergy with the extra deck monsters, besides Holly Angel. Catbat loses an arrow for burning and has tricky arrows to use, FoxGlove witch has bad arrows and relatively high effort to bring out in the main monster zone, BellaMadonna cant use it, Crimson heart and Delfiendium cant burn and bloom would only have her effect in the event your sweet guitar was destroyed. We really need another fusion.
Fun fact: I came up with a ditch 9 card banish combo for this deck. First get a way to summon two Blooms. This can be done several ways. Trickstar festival, Nightshade's effect, light arena, any way to get it. Use 1, summon a bloom, have your opponent draw a card. Do it again a second time, have them draw another card. Next link those two into Crimson Heart. If you have a Trickstar card in hand, you can discard it and have you and your opponent draw 1 card each. Next is the part that requires more luck, but less luck if you have more cards that can do it. Place down a card like Present Card or play Card Destruction if you have it, which will nearly double how many cards get sent away. Next you end your turn, and your opponent draws a card, bringing them up to 9. Now this is the final move. Play the face down and ditch all of your opponents cards. The cherry on top? If your face down card is Reincarnation, that's 9 cards banished. Which can a lot of times, ruin your opponents whole game. It does take a small bit of luck, but with the amount of cards that can pull off the first move alone, you'll have an easy time pulling this off.
Actually Aoi/Skye does go back to the trickstar archetype, Duel Links is Canon to Vrains lore, since the end of vrains sees Ai waking up, which is how the commercial for DL starts up and how Playmaker finds Ai in DL. Aoi returns to Link Vrains DL as Blue Angel and she uses the Trickstars again.
Funny how you showed clips from zombie land saga when talking about the dark side of idol culture. That show is very good at protrating that. I don't know if you've seen but it's really good
This archetype seems like fun. I’m getting back into this via Duel Links because it’s easier to grasp the concept. What I don’t get is how they determine how many arrows Link monsters get and where they point to. Like Trickstar Crimson Heart has such random arrows with one always pointing right and the other bottom-•left. Same with Trickstar Bella Madonna. The asymmetrical design when you’re thinking about the game board makes it a bit odd and off-putting even
2:00 And after six series of this and only getting worse, this is exactly why I DON'T want to go back to Gallop. Worst-treated "main" in the franchise, second only to Yuzu.
I just saw someone's video on the same day this video went out of someone showing a replay where someone else got out 3 of the burn draw Trickstar and the Field spell then played 2 Traps that shuffled back their deck do draw new cards which caused a bunch of burn damage to the point where the duel was over yet they were still getting burned.
Oh they definitely treated her terribly and was up against characters that could specifically counter her deck not to mention faced the main bosses of 2 seasons 2 times and only lost those because they made her misplay in both of those simply due to plot cuz she’s not the main character and isn’t supposed to defeat them
I cannot tell you how surprised I was to discover foxglove witch is actually really good in trickstars with a good hand...and it's floating effect into divardis is also amazing, got me game quite a few times so I'm happy with this deck, although if you didn't get to diamond with it, I may have forgotten about it for longer
I usually pair Foxglove witch with Holly Angel for the attack point gain, can either prevent the opponent from a second attack, or sometimes I'll destroy witch, summon angel, then use the boosted attack to take out a monster
For the next archetype video, please make one for "Gaia the Knight"! This legendary warrior should be honored by making the archetype video regarding of his lore and evolution.
A friend got me into Duel Links... hadn't played since the start of XYZ monsters and the anniversary packs gave me the most of this Archetype, so I've been using them to learn what I've fallen behind on... they're fun to use and are a stall deck's nightmare 🤣 They may not be the strongest, but the summon spamability reminds me of the 6 Samurai archetype XD that being said, it looks like Duel Links doesn't have all of them yet...
Blue Angel fumbled the bag. Got a top tier archetype and didn't win much. Truly a second rate duelist. If you ever cover VRAINS you will see so many times she misplays from how actual top tier Trickstar should be played.
Hey TGS, What are your thoughts on going 2nd Trickstars? Would love to see what you'd recommend for an alternative build of the deck. So far I've found it enjoyable to use a board breaker, then: - summon Holly off of festival - activate light stage - summon candina to Holly's zone -search lycoris -attack w/ both -summon lycoris during the battle phase to holly's zone (multiples if possible) -attack again! -wait for opponent's draw phase to deliver the kiss of death
Oh they did her horrible. I am of the mind that she should have inherited Specter's deck and uncorrupted will, mixing the two archetypes together in one deck, with Aqua coming by latter to unify and upgrade the deck into a new archetype. That way Aoi's deck would have grown and evolved alongside her instead of being tossed aside like the character was constantly. Her character growth ultimately ment nothing.
You forgot to mention that some Trickstars are also named after Popular Women. Trickstar Bella Madonna and Bloody Mary are named after, you know, THEM.
I think she got treated really unfairly, especially since she was matched up against duelists that had greater plot narratives. I think she couldn’t have been given some more wins in her favor, especially since she and Go were considered part of the big three of Link Vrains
I see the character and honestly I don't know what they have planned for her, since Vrains has an small cast it looks like since s2 they looked for ways to keep her in the story like the rest of the characters
@@FranciscoRamirez-nb4uu I feel like she got shunted to the side in favor of Soulburner, and the remaining ignis. Heck, they could have made her partner with the water ignis. That would work well with her changing her deck, and have her getting a prime opportunity for a rematch with Spector over the Ignis
@@kanekikingstorm2113 The problem is that they clearly just forced her to continue in the story. Aoi's only goal at the start was to show his brother that she can take care of herself or that he can trust her or something. Then they went the route of making her a hero cause that' what people expected or something, but it's just a generic goal. And honestly I don't mind her put on the side to favor SB, honestly I would like to know more about the lost incident victims than about Aoi or Go. Actually my biggest problem with SB is that they make him an Aoi and Go fan just because he read that they helped protect Link Vrains... I believe he didn't knew about them before that but for some reason the writters thought it was logic for him to admire them. Anyways back to the point, Aoi felt disconnected from the plot since S1 and they tried ways to put her in some way like making a convenient conection to Aqua
For me, this is one of those archetypes thats a major pain in the arse because blue angel spends an hour each turn doing 6 dozen link summons just to end up with one monster with 2200 attack points. DO SOMETHING BETTER FOR CHRIST SAKES!
Maybe Konami can make a trap card called " trickster mirror " it can have the effect your opponent discards three card from their hand ( Bloody Mary x3 ) if they don't you can special summon a Trickstar monster and your opponent will lose life points by it's attack point .

Hmm. Almost like
A) Double Standards.
Got to love it when your are playing a trickstar deck and you opponent immediately plays Maxx C without knowing.
👀Joke’s on you! I’m into that shit. 😂
Dude, I must admit, Blue Angel is treated so wrong that it blew my mind. Even some anime antagonists aren't treated THAT badly.
saying she was treated unfairly is an understatement
I'm hoping for the Number Archetype soon, but i'm enjoying this video as well. (Not feeling well rn, so this was a nice surprise)
Hope you get well soon 💜
I feel like the Number Archetype should be reserved for when the Number cards aren’t also in a specific archetype. For example, if he does a Utopia archetype or a Galaxy-Eyes archetype video, he would not have to do Numbers 39, 93, 99 ( both), 62, 90, 95, and 107 just to name a few.
For the record, I too want to see a video on it as well.
@@TGSAnime please do one for aqua-actress and mercenary fur hire and dragon buster destruction sword and buster whelp
Her arc was the best, I love her original deck and I'm happy that her second deck was also a meta deck
12:28 you won't be burnt from using Desires because this card only burns when you banish from the GY.
"her unique item is a gun" sounds so funny considering this is supposed to be a children's card game
XD
Ever since watching the -roid archetype video, I am now waiting for the speedroid archetype.
Blue angel got done so dirty and that los to specter my gosh I live how crazy he is
Trickstars don't have strong extra deck cards?
I've always loved Trickstars, I really wish they were playable
VRAINS absolutely did Blue Angel dirty. She deserved more wins, and Trickstars deserve more support.
Also what he also failed to tell ya is that reincarnation also go nastily with yata, with this you also complete the yata lock in modern yugioh
Let’s hope the number archetype come sooner or later, I also like trick stars but the effect damage gets only worse as the duel continues, but overall good archetype
I love the Trickstars! They are SO much fun. My favourite archetype.
The real rules of Kiba' s spin disc dual system & the spearfield
This reminds me. Yugioh character profiles for Vrains?
19:09 Trickstar Bloom of Broom!
And cue them announcing a LIGHT Duelist Pack.
If Trickstars get in, and not Star Seraph, even though they were on THE SAME SD POLL I would be mad.
Omg! You still make these videos! Thank you so much. I really enjoy watching all your archetype videos especially Shiranui/Mayakashi saga
the logo is more of a skull-butterfly, with goes with the butterfly wings they have
They did Trickstars so dirty in Duel Links too
You would think they would at least give Blue Angel a skill to let her inflict 200 damage points BUT NOPE. Only holly angel...
they didn't even gave her say, the field spell searcher as part of the skill or as a 1 off as her level 30 reward (even though her debut event showed the card is indeed programmed in the game)
Trickstars is an interesting archetype where you can burn damage to your opponents. They're cute, but deadly idols
Lmao
Like how liking idols is the death of your wallet
Cause most idol fans do buy idol merchandise for their favourite idols
I’mma need that Madolche Archetype lore.
Yes please!
Yes
He already did that
@roninwarriorsfan No, he didn't make a Madolche Archetype video.
@@anonymousxiii4780 okay, what do you call this then? ruclips.net/video/XVQp0ZVJvdk/видео.htmlsi=IHHikrIrQZQuvj7B
Aoi returns to Link Vrains DL as Blue Angel and she uses the Trickstars again.
it's the other way around, Vrains lore is canon to Duel Links, but it's the closest to an actual sequel to Vrains.
3:07 I was not aware they were named after-
Heart-shaped SKULL EMBLEM? I didn’t realize THAT o_O
Light stage at three feels so good after so long
Funny how you showed clips from zombie land saga when talking about the dark side of idol culture. That show is very good at protrating that. I don't know if you've seen but it's really good
Also the I haven't seen the dub but it has a lot of talent from RUclips like ama lee
I have seen it, thought it was great!
The Rap battle was so good
This archetype seems like fun. The asymmetrical design when you’re thinking about the game board makes it a bit odd and off-putting even
17:25 ish link monsters are everywhere tho
Half the time you'll be playing a Trickstar deck the other half you will be playing Brickstars.
TGS: what is she blowing?
My mind: HER MANAGER!
2:00 And after six series of this and only getting worse, this is exactly why I DON'T want to go back to Gallop. Worst-treated "main" in the franchise, second only to Yuzu.
Can we please stop talking about that? This is exactly why I can't enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh.
@@jovanisanchez3590 Hey, he brought it up.
@@christopherb501 What are you talking about?
@@jovanisanchez3590 ...TGS brought up Aoi's frequent losses, including the infamous faceplant? Did you even WATCH the video?
@Jovani Sanchez Don't let these feelings or other people, stop you from enjoying Yugioh, there is plenty to like!
It’s crazy that this archetype has the record for the most field spells in an archetype.
Oh they definitely treated her terribly and was up against characters that could specifically counter her deck not to mention faced the main bosses of 2 seasons 2 times and only lost those because they made her misplay in both of those simply due to plot cuz she’s not the main character and isn’t supposed to defeat them
Yep it really pissed me off
Also Hydradrives are a garbage archetype.
A pure Lightsworn deck destroys Hydradrives lol
Dynasty of the Useless: Hydradrives
the 5 not yet made trickstar cards could be printed in Animation Chronicle next year! I want it with all my soul!!!
10:37 I think that’s actually Narkissus in there and not Nightshade.
2:28 From what I have seen, which is the entire first season, it feels like everyone in some form or fashion gets jipped.
8:16 Lily of the Bell/Valley
XD
1:27 Divaridis is the only extra deck monster worth leaving then
1:40 BURN BABY BURN! 2:25 Yes it is. REALLY unfair
Next duel scenario should be was Noah about to beat kaiba/yugi
Lilybell’s torso shows a skull heart with blood underneath it.
the one who treated very badly in yugioh vrains was actually ghost girl instead of blue angel
For the next archetype video, please make one for "Gaia the Knight"!
This legendary warrior should be honored by making the archetype video regarding of his lore and evolution.
That was amazing as always thanks for your work I like to see Reptilianne next or my be my favorite thunder dragon
A friend got me into Duel Links... hadn't played since the start of XYZ monsters and the anniversary packs gave me the most of this Archetype, so I've been using them to learn what I've fallen behind on... they're fun to use and are a stall deck's nightmare 🤣
They may not be the strongest, but the summon spamability reminds me of the 6 Samurai archetype XD
that being said, it looks like Duel Links doesn't have all of them yet...
In before more trickstar support suddenly gets announced

PLEASE do a video about the D/D/D archetype soon !
Ah yes, the deck that gave us cards to punish Maxx C” and hand rip the opponent
Blue Angel fumbled the bag. Got a top tier archetype and didn't win much. Truly a second rate duelist.
If you ever cover VRAINS you will see so many times she misplays from how actual top tier Trickstar should be played.
Hey TGS,
What are your thoughts on going 2nd Trickstars? Would love to see what you'd recommend for an alternative build of the deck.
So far I've found it enjoyable to use a board breaker, then:
- summon Holly off of festival
- activate light stage
- summon candina to Holly's zone
-search lycoris
-attack w/ both
-summon lycoris during the battle phase to holly's zone (multiples if possible)
-attack again!
8:20 Jesse we need to play trickstar
@@kanekikingstorm2113
The problem is that they clearly just forced her to continue in the story.
Freaking Amazing observations here man! Really brings new personality to this archetype.
I suggest…

I’ve loved this archetype since I’ve watched vrains and I’ve loved using them ever since
‘Naughty tune handcuffs’ 😂
For me, this is one of those archetypes thats a major pain in the arse because blue angel spends an hour each turn doing 6 dozen link summons just to end up with one monster with 2200 attack points. DO SOMETHING BETTER FOR CHRIST SAKES!
Yu-Gi-Oh vrains greatness
here's an idea make a vid based on the phantom knight's archetype
Maybe Konami can make a trap card called " trickster mirror " it can have the effect your opponent discards three card from their hand ( Bloody Mary x3 ) if they don't you can special summon a Trickstar monster and your opponent will lose life points by it's attack point .
you should do a video like this for the predaplant archetype
yeah 100% Blue Angel was treated unfairly
