- From the moment they became MasterChef judges, Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen became close friends. Still reeling from his sudden loss, Andy sat down with The Project and told us about his favourite memories and what he will miss most.

Andy is so strong for doing such a public tribute so soon. Hope he gets some more private time to process it over the coming weeks without the expectation of the press rounds for masterchef promo. This was touching and emotional and he totally did this to honour his friend but hopefully other media outlets leave him and others alone for a bit.
I think sometimes the sooner the better, you know, since all the memories of Jock is still fresh, it'd be "easier" to process, to deliver, and to preserve.
As for myself... I didn't think the loss someone I only saw on youtube (since I can only watch masterchef au on lifetime channel) for a short amount of time would have this much impact, but it did. Even now I still can't believe Jock is no longer around...
How about doing documentaries on Veteran suicides instead of your rich friends at the networks

Seeing Andy so broken over Jock's passing is breaking my heart. You could see the friendship and respect between the 2 of them on the show, but knowing that they were so close off screen too makes me sad and smile at the same time.
Thank you Andy, for doing this. We love Jock and we will think of him as we watch every MS episode to come, not just this season but every season after. ❤
I have just finished watching Jocks last series, he was an amazing man to watch, his valuable guidance and feedback to the contestants. It won't be the same without him RIP Jock. Give it up Jock Zonfrillo everybody!!!

Yes that last line give it up for an amazing person whoever it may be. A good soul who had been to the dark side of life but persistenty fought everyday to do better. Its so hard is this life. Jock was always so lovely to the contestants and colleagues. Never cocky or nasty to look cool. Just empathetic and compassionate in a harsh world. The 2 of them and Melissa are great hosts.They have good chemistry. They are one of the reasons i enjoyed watching masterchef. I still couldn't believe he is gone.

Kudos to the interviewer, I haven't seen her do this before. But I am sure she is great. She handled everything so well, the amount of empathy and care she showed during the interview is rare to see on TV.

Andy is so brave doing this interview I didn't know Jock like most people here we feel your pain losing a great friend is devastating. There are no words that could explian how you feel when someone you admire passes away. I am so sorry for all those who loved him and are in pain and heart broken.

This is one of the reasons I love Masterchef Australia the most of any competition/reality show out there.
When the entire judge trio was changed, I honestly wasn’t sure how I would like the new ones. But the second I met these 3, I knew I was just gonna love the show more. Jock was an amazing person, amazing part of the show, and this interview hits so hard because the show gives us so much. I honestly believe his legacy will be felt in the show for ever.
As someone who lived in Scotland for 5,5 years, one of the reasons I had a lot of respect for Jock was that he wore a kilt for the finales of the seasons he was a part of. Like… It showed to me the level of passion and respect he had for the show in another way.
Andy is so brave to do this interview, if I had to do an interview like that I'd probably have a break down half way through the interview.
I watched this with tears in my eyes. I still cannot believe it. My condolences to all of you who knew Jock and stood close to him. Much love from The Netherlands.
Watching from NZ, it’s been such a sad week, just in total disbelief over the news. I understand what Andy said here - every time I think of Jock I get that shock of disbelief. Sending love to all of Jock’s colleagues, friends and of course his family.
The reason I've been watching Masterchef was mainly because of Jock and the other judges. I loved listening to Jock's Scottish accent. I thought he was a wonderful human being, so humble and real. Rest in eternal peace Jock. Feeling very sorry for Andy, Melissa snd of course Jock's wife and children.
This was truly devastating to watch. So proud of Andy for getting through that chat considering how tough it was for him to do. And Jock would be having a laugh seeing Andy drinking something he didn't like in his honour.
It's so sad knowing Jock won't be on Masterchef anymore. As Andy said, he was the life and soul of the competition, and it won't be the same without him 😢 but I'll definitely continue to watch.
I’ve watched the tribute the superstar chefs made for him and that made me cry, but this one has my shirt wet and my nose stuffy. I’ve commented on Jock’s Instagram posts a few times and it amazed me that he always replied whenever I asked a question. So I don’t doubt the truthfulness that he always made time for people. And time is one of the best gifts anyone could give.
I’m a big fan of master chef Australia. I just can’t believe that Jock is no longer here. I feel you Andy, please stay strong and we will always remember him because he live in our hearts. Sending love and prayers for you Andy, Mel and his family ❤😢

Its really weird for me to shed tears for someone I don't even know personally, I mean I only watched him and the trio for only a few months not even a year, but I love him, I love watching him. Almost did not go back watching 2020 season, however then this funny loud scot walked in, and thought I would give it a try & low and behold, Masterchef took a turn for the best - my thoughts and prayers to the Zonfrillo family and friends. God bless you all during this time of sadness

I have seen the season Andy won and the season he became a judge alongwith Jock and Mel. The trio were amazing as judges. Jock was such a charismatic and warm person. I am just a fan sitting far far away. But it is so painful and heartbreaking for me. God give strength and courage to his family and closed ones. Rest in peace Chef. You will be missed.

i watched this interview the day of, and found it heartbreaking (and surreal)..../and here i am again....the tears began as soon as Andy walked out. A true champion for finding the strength to do this interview for his best mate. We are all part of this MasterChef family and people like me, who only knew Jock through this platform on tv, are heartbroken and still findi g it hard to cope with the realisation that this beautiful man who lit up our screens is gone.....but will never be forgotten. Dear Jock, I'm watching on older season at this moment here in the Netherlands, looked you up, because you look smashing in your suit, as always, was curious about Lauren and kids, and instead of happy news I found out tover died 5 months ago, so tragic. Loved by many, but died alone. Not even the chance to call Lauren, so it must have been sudden. So sorry!

Just tuned into Masterchef a while back and I was so overjoyed to watch the season. Literally imagined a 10 year run of Jock and Andy and how iconic that would be. Randomly went on Instagram for the show updates and here I am in shock and utter disbelief. It’s 1am rn and I’m unable to process this. My heart felt prayers to his family. Am from India. On May 1st when i read the news of Jock, first time in my life, i cried a lot for someone whom i know only from a TV show Masterchef AU. That is the way Jock lives in our hearts forever like a friend whom we meet daily virtually on TV and he is part of our family.Myself and my son every episode of masterchef AU we closely watch Jock's reactions and wits. Once in my lifetime i had a wish to cook Chicken wings for Jock and serve to him, watch him happily enjoying eating the chicken.
