this actually came out quite gorgeous. im tempted to do the same now instead of just buying one. thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!!
Me too!
That is one sharp looking fire table. I like the use of magnets to attach the access door to. Gives it a nice clean look. Well done John!
Thanks John I appreciate it!
Now you need end tables😊. Great project for family time.
Thank you!!
Great job, I can’t wait to start mine next week
dude. the information in this video is invaluable. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video so detailed and easy to follow. Gonna try and make one of these on my next weekend 👌
Thanks for watching!!
Looks so good!
Thanks!!
Another one out the park. 🤙Awesome build like always. 👍
I appreciate it!!
A wonderful build. The kids must be thrilled to be roasting Marshmallows with Mom and Dad.
Almost every night!
Looks great!
Thanks!!
Looks really good. Well done. That is a solid piece of furniture!
I appreciate it!
Very nice. Might have to do something like this. Thanks for the links. - Chris
Thank you!!
Building this right now with my son. Probably 3/4 complete. Thanks for making such a great design and giving the step by step. Can’t wait till it’s done
Awesome!! 👍🏽
Great job! I built one a few years ago but used regular untreated tongue and groove. It stays under our patio so I wasn't to worry about it sitting in the rain but I think I'll redo it with some cedar. I like the magnet for the door too. I did Put wheels on the bottom of mine so I can move it around on our concrete patio.
I love it! It will get a lot of use!
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Really nice. By the looks you are meticulous. Perfect, good job man 👍🏻
Thanks I appreciate it!
Beautiful job! Compliments the furniture perfectly! Looks like your family is enjoying it already!
Thank you!
Thats a great build. I did one of these for my dad a few years ago and couldn’t find anyone that did a concrete top. My process I worked out was exactly like yours after watching a ton of countertop videos, but I used a piece of rigid foam insulation for the center cutout as I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get a melamine square to release cleanly. It made removing that center piece after curing super easy. I used 2 of the mini propane tanks on mine, but I really like the larger tank you used on its side. My mini tanks went in through 2 single panel doors I put on the front of the table. I really wish I would have seen this a few years ago, it would have save me a ton of time researching that project.
Thanks man! The horizontal tank sure is nice. All the store bought tables you can buy, all use regular vertical tanks and I just think that makes the table too tall. Good idea with the 2 small tanks though!
very nice and simple, even tempting me to try making one!
Do it! Haha
Pretty damn good build, and not crazy complicated!
These turned out great. Nice job!
Thank you!
Nice job! I'm planning to build a bar height version of this but without the fireplace. Now you make me want one! Lol
Haha have room for both??
@@JohnBuildsIt yes, considering how to do it while not losing the storage I want. Love the fireplace idea.
Absolutely great. Well done. From Paul in the uk 🇬🇧
Thank you!
Super nice build John! I will be ordering these and the chair plans.
Awesome, thank you!!
Very nice build! Giving me ideas for yet another project!
Thanks for watching!!
Great build
Thanks! 🙌🏼
Beautiful! 😍
Thanks!!
Besides adding tape to the concrete pour, I find that wiping my hand along the inside of the form can release some bubbles and get some cream near all of the exposed surfaces, nice build!
Yea I was thinking I should’ve done that on the sides, like I was on the face really working it down
That looks fantastic!!! Interesting that the hose comes right out of the middle of the pan.. that is a bummer!
Just glad it still works at least! Haha
Great build - nice job
Thanks!!
Certified banger!
🙌🏼🙌🏼
*Great Build!!!*
*I think I’ll have to make this!!!*
We’re loving it!

Looks great!
Thank you!
Very nice! 😁👍🤩👌
Thank you 👍
Nice build 👍 I'm not sure if you know this, but the red silicone cap on the glue bot will slide onto the nub in the middle of the fill cap and keeps it out of your way.
Nice haha thanks, never paid attention!
How long have I been using glu bots and I had no idea?!! 🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣
I was going to cut the cap off because it kept dangling into my glue, it was driving me nuts, then I just had a eureka moment.
Although it's probably in the instructions. One day, we'll all start reading them. Today is not that day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either 😂
Fantastic build John! I need to build one of these!
So nice to have man!
Love it, got the plans.
Thank you!!
we are building one now, but using pallets and leftover tongue and groove from our patio cover ceiling, so the wood cost is zilch. gonna be pretty heavy base though, thinking of just putting the propane tank on the exterior with a hose and propane tank cover (a million options on Amazon), plus the horizontal tank is expensive.
nice work
Thanks!
Likeeeeee from Brazil 👍 🇧🇷
Thanks for watching!
I’ll be using your purchased items. I’m curious how much do you have invested, compared to buying one? Serious question b/c I’m on the fence of building or buying. Great job👊🏻
Thank you! I’m not really sure where I could buy one like this to compare prices
Awesome job. For the location problem, can you just run so connectors to angle it the way you want it?
Yea I’ll have to go see what fittings I can find!
Nice
Thanks!!
Looks amazing! Does it put off enough heat to keep warm on the cooler nights?
Yea it’s perfect! Almost a little too hot this time of year haha
I wish you did a vid for the wooden top one you showed…..I wanna make one but want to avoid concrete…
It’s the same thing. Just lay some deck boards down, leave a gap between them, and screw a few cleats on the bottom to hold them together.
@@JohnBuildsIt thanks I’m going to do that
you could probably get a right angle fitting to fix the propane tank interference issue.
Yea I’m going to look for one!
Absolutely wonderful fire table. Thinking about building one for our anniversary. The outdoor defense oil, how often do you have to recoat? Thanks! Wonder how it'd look if you left the cedar to weather? Happy 4th
I’m hoping just once every spring when I bring the furniture back out for the summer. Nothing wrong with natural greying cedar though!
John, Awesome build as always. Wondering what kreg jig that is. Looks different than jig you have linked.
The K5, they don’t make it anymore so I linked the new one 👍🏽
Great build! Quick question- how did you secure the countertop to the framing? Is the concrete countertop just sitting on top loose?
Yea, it’s heavy, not going anywhere 👍🏽
Awesome job!!!
How many total hours do you think it took for you to build? I would about 5x as many!
It’s spread out over several days waiting for the silicone, oil, and concrete to dry but really it’s a fast build, probably 5 or 6 hours of hands on work
If you follow the mixing instructions for that countertop mix, it’ll be too dry every time. Been there… Nice build!
how hot does or how much heat does the pit produce, you have a btu reading? very nice project
All it says is rated for up to 150K BTU. No clue how hot it actually is
Maybe a dumb question, but how do you sand the cedar, specifically the edge profiles, without messing them up? Do you have to do it all by hand?
Stack multiple pieces together so the sander is more stable and won’t roll off, and then yea I usually do the last grit by hand
Great build! Got a link for those Magnets? Thanks
I got them locally, but here’s some similar amzn.to/3YE3kUo
really nice look! do you mind sharing what oil finish you used? thank you
found it! thank you
👍🏽👍🏽
How did you fasten the top down to the base did you just align it and PL it down? Also I did not see down in the product section, what were the magnets used for the removable hatch?
I bought them locally at Menards, but similar to these amzn.to/3O1Vdxf
And the concrete is heavy enough I just sat it in place, haven’t glued it
About how much does the concrete top weigh by itself the way you made it using the countertop concrete?
About how much total does the entire fire pit table weigh totally finished with the top on?
I have no clue, sorry! Light enough for me to carry myself without too much struggle
Does the concrete top just sit on top of the base or is it somehow affixed there?
Just sat in place. It’s heavy
Which track saw square guide is that? I just bought the Milwaukee Track Saw.
TSO Products. Supposedly it doesn’t work with the Milwaukee track, but it works on mine and is perfectly square lol so idk!
Is it ok to put the propane tank on its side?
This is a horizontal tank
How did you secure the top to the base?
It’s heavy, just sits there
Have you had any issue with the propane hose melting and leaking gas due to been so close to the burner pan? I read someone had this issue on another video and it cause a fire under the table. It could have exploded. I am planning to use a metal hose but wondering if it happens.
No I haven’t. Our metal pan doesn’t really even get hot, even on the outside
How much time do you get out of the propane tank?
Not sure yet, we’re still on the first tank and have used it quite a bit
Ya
Any worrys about heat that close to tank ? I want a very custom size pit with a hidden tank and they're just not offered
No not an issue 👍🏽
Looks great!
Thank you!!
