Saw Kenny for the first time in 1970, him and Jim Croce( both unknown to me at the time) were the opening acts for James Taylor at Penn St. university. Will never forget it......those were the days no doubt.
That must have been an amazing concert!! 🥰🤗🎉 I would’ve loved to be there, but I was born in 1980 lol 😉 James Taylor & Kenny Loggins are my favorite singers!
Gosh, what a great opportunity to have had the good fortune to experience such a wonderful show given by such talented artists.
@@emilychristina3172 isn't it nice we can all discover the music of ages before our own times now. I remember discovering 50s rock & roll when I was a kid in the 1970s.
Emily if you've not yet dug into the 60s & 70s do go discover the great singer songwriters of that time ... look out the documentaries on Laurel Canyon & all the west coast bands then -- CSNY, James Taylor, Carol King, Neil Young, Mamas & Papas..... & then Fleetwood Mac, Eurythmics... Blondie. .... Pretenders. .... oh and don't miss Supertramp -- hardly ever played now, but wonderful.... and Level 42, and Dire Straits, and Simply Red...... SO much talent. The BRIGHT side of our shining little planet :)
@@emilychristina3172 Emily if you haven't hard Kenny Loggins on Darryls House - do - there's a brilliant episode where he sings Footloose with Darryls band
He wrote this song for his brother...I believe Kenny was just 18 years old...How can someone so young write a deep and emotional song about love, fatherhood and life. What a beautiful song - so well written and sung by Kenny.
Is this true?
@@elijahbrewer2865 Yes - His brother Danny had just gotten married and was having a baby. Loggins talks about he had no money bc he was only 18/19 so he wrote this song for his brother and called it Danny's Song
Saw Kenny play in Santa Barbara New Years either 10 or 11 years ago. Small venue so it was super cool to be up close.
I’m a teenage boy and I prefer this kind of music
I never realized Kenny Loggins wrote so many hit songs. Half the time I heard the tunes,I never knew it was him singing. Wow! Talented songwriter, so many great songs.
One of his songs Barbra Streisand sang in " A Star is Born" in 1976 ..."I believe in Love".. Great song ..and arrangement..
@@gigigiseleworld yeah but his pet gopher was the real talent 😁
Cat Stevens wrote tis song.
My first poster was Loggins and Messina. I was in elementary school and loved them so much! I have worn out 3 CDs of Pooh's Corner. I used it to fall asleep to every night. I had terrible insomnia when I worked, and was a single parent to 3 children. Thank you Kenny for all the years of your beautiful music.
Still love that voice, thanks Kenny for MANY years of enjoyment in your music.
I was there!! Been a huge fan of his for years and to see him live was one of those life moments I will never forget. I love you Kenny!!!
Saw Logins and Messina in the 70’s. This is by far my favorite song. It was our song when our son was being born. He’s 49 years now.❤
The legend!!! He still got his voice!
No he doesn't....
@@MikeRoberts1964let’s see you sing in your 70’s fuck head.
Timeless music. Kenny Loggins forever.
I used to play this song in college (Same key of D). It's a great song. Two young people who just got married, have no money but each other & it's them against the world. The girls loved this in particular. Brought the house down every time.
Leap of faith. I got to a point where all I heard was Kenny Loggins, Kenny Loggins and I tuned out. Over the decades I had forgotten song names and places and times. I am very disoriented to try and name a current song at this time. I can't do radio. I just can't. I keep hearing names that are famous or so I am told and I scratch my head and smile because I just don't know their songs so I admit it. They look at me and wonder where I've been hiding. One day I had bought what I think is a greatest hits of Mr. Kenny Loggins. I downloaded it and filed it away. I thought I had bought "Your momma don't dance blah blah blah" and I figured I was good to go. Ready to rock when I needed it. I think I was 12 when that came out and whooooo yeah. Back in the early 70s it was just the jam. I digress. Over the years I would hear a Kenny Loggins song and much like I would hear Cat Stevens I would mentally file it away for when I needed it. Recently I needed it. I had forgotten how many songs Mr. Loggins had written that I had memorized in my brain like an mp3 file written into the flesh of my mind.
My family moved back to San Diego right when "Whenever I call you friend" was released. Yeah, that one. If that song doesn't sound powerful to you, imagine yourself as a teenager with teenager confusion and you hear this voice with harmony that just resonates with your brain until you hear the song day and night.
...and he was just getting warmed up. How many years did he write after? Way too many. He was gifted far too much talent for one man.
This song was an emotional gift to me from him when I was about 10. I have never gotten to see you play live. Kenny, you are as good as it gets. If you can throw in some Jimmy Buffet you would blow up the planet. I had forgotten that Kenny Loggins wrote this song even though I had it in my head. Life is funny and I am hilarious at times.
You bring a tear of joy to my eyes.
I LOST IT CRYING on the bus when the audience sang the chorus.
I love all Kenny songs, but this one is very special! Perfect inspiration !!! I love it !!!
Every time it sounds better and better!
Still sounding great. 🙏🏼
It's just one of those songs that will never die! WHY???? Because it's filled with love and hope. You wrote a good one Kenny!!!! Come sing it in Nova Scotia?????
Thank you for creating this song Kenny Loggins. I'm guessing that after hearing Danny's Song that lots of very positive decisions have been made by thousands of young people out there.
Saw Kenny in concert in Southern Maryland. Always going to be one of my favorite singers :)

Omg 😿❤😻
He wrote this song when he was 17 or 18 years old.
Still Brill......Rock On...
To defend myself and a previous comment, I feel the need to add some pertinent facts. I was born late 62. Could have been earlier but my parents were busy for a few years. I grew up with a confusion of Country, early Jazz, Bebop, early 60 Jazz, Pop (like Karen Carpenter) and Blood Sweat and Tears. As I grew through boyhood, music began to realize definitions. When I say definition I mean Rock, Easy Listening, Jazz, Country and that were pretty much the categories they allowed you in a record shop in the 1970s. From California to Arkansas I can tell you that they categorized music intently. As if they were afraid of what might happen if you reached a little further and grabbed the wrong(right) album. When I was a kid, Kenny Loggins and Marshal Tucker were considered Rock. Not Heavy Rock. Not Metal or Death Metal or #($*&$& Metal or whatever. Just Rock. To hear either of them around 1985 you would call them Country. Even now I hear a Countryish vibe in Loggins' music but it's still Rock and Roll to me because that's the station I listened to and heard him on.
So how do I rationalize it? We called it Rock but you call it Country and younger folks try to act like Minnie Pearl when we were both listening to the same damn song. 70s Rock is just today's Country. Nothing more except that there are originals who stand out. Buck Owens will probably be my Johnny Cash for the rest of you. John Fogerty because he is just cool. Kenny Loggins because of all the harmonies Ive ever heard, he carried me through the 1970s and you can call it whatever style of music you like. I'll still listen to it if it's this good.
Kenny Loggins, thank you sir.
My song
Still good looking

Just a MONUMENTAL talent…still…..and probably till he’s got one foot in the grave. Watch his Kenny Loggins and Friends show. David Foster, Michael McDonald, Jim Messina and a bunch of others. Pure entertainment and some great performances.

This is how it's Done.
he got bowling shoes on.
Hello there Kenny
I have been hearing this song in our local radio way back home. I just want to ask you
What do you mean by being the girl WHO HOLDS THE WORLD IN A PAPER CUP?
I made a cover slide video of that song I refrained from putting on the lyrics because somebody might ask and I wouldn’t know how to explain
Thank you and God Bless
A paper cup was and is something inexpensive, in which you are usually served water or other beverage. If that’s all you had around the house you didn’t have a great deal of money. It’s an interesting lyric-essentially, if you met someone who held the world in a paper cup she was probably someone who was satisfied with the simple things in life, no pretension. Loved you for being you.
We all get old.
😀
Love the last verse, but can't catch the 2 words "Now I know what I've been told is really true (my bray? ?)? Any one know?

cant sing for yourself?
Your voice changes as you get older. So you need more help to sing the higher notes.
John Frusciante does it better.
