Wow the under the porch spot took way longer for everyone but Jimmy found it pretty quick, you were right for recognizing he would look there and choosing the underwater spot for him lol
I’m seeing two approaches with these things. There’s the Gem strategy, where you load the build up with so much detail and so many hiding places that people just get lost, and there’s the Jimmy strategy, where the build is just so frustratingly simple that no one knows what to do. It seems Gem’s strategy works better. :)
gem also utilizes paths to mislead others. she mentioned it more in her first video I think, but she uses paths to subconsciously guide others to the structure rather than the places she is actually hiding. it actually works quite well in her favor, especially when she’s quite literally hiding underneath the path they are following

I usually watch Mumbo, Grian, Scar, and Tango’s videos… I was not prepared for the incredible creativity or the SPEED of Gem’s building skills. The creation (especially the fish!) was as fun to watch as the seeking.
gem just making her build chaotic is hilarious XD i usually dont watch with caption bc auto captions arent the best but i was very plesantly surprised when gems are colour coded and such, twas nice and lovely. whomever does that captioning i love you :)
One time i spent my time on the server me and my friends made just making my entire base with the idea that you'd use it to play Hide-And-Seek in. The base had secrets everywhere and eventually housed 5 whole players who all loved to make walls out of Spruce Trapdoors and loved to live in eachother's walls.
The magic of the porch spot is that, people think she is either in the light house, or in the water, those are like the 2 big areas, but the little bits of grass around the light house are kinda in between, and easily ignored! Not to mention relatively close to the entrance, everyone is too ocupied with other stuff to check so close.
Gems Voice gives the Feeling of like a fun side quest in a whimsical open world game! With the taunting and laughing you just feel bubbly inside cause it’s so carefree and happy!!
If you're curious, the lighthouse Gem is probably inspired by with the barber pole-esque red stripe (most lighthouses are all white with no stripe at all, or maybe will have some red horizontal bands) is likely the Heart's Content lighthouse on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland, Canada. Gem also lives in Newfoundland, and I think she said she lives in St. John's, too, so this is probably the one! Love, A Maritimer

I saw your build from afar in other POVs first and I was honestly unsure of how many hiding spots you could hide in a lighthouse. This is honestly impressive and some are very creative and still on theme. I love it!

Honestly, I love this video concept. I think it's one of the first videos of yours that wasn't a tutorial that I watched, which led me to your Hermitcraft content, and then to the rest of (both) of your channels. All because of this great twist on both speed-building and hide and seek that forces people to think differently about building. It's really fun to see.

Build and Seek is one of my new fav series but I wanna shoutout the captions. The colored and labeled text makes it very clear who is speaking!! I have some form of auditory processing disorder (cuz of being autistic and ADHD lol) + my AC is unbelievably loud, so I very much appreciate captions, especially ones that you can tell had a lot of thought put into.
I only just realized Scott is wearing Jimmy's blue open shirt. EDIT: Almost. Jimmy's has buttons down one side. I have it paused at 1:04 for a really good shot of the two of them side by side.

Somebody needs to do the old Etho trick of putting a hidden room behind a painting, but the painting has a trapdoor in the doorway and a pressure plate, so you have to toss in an item to flip up the trapdoor before you can pass through the painting.
I laughed so hard during this video. It was all amazing, it was so detailed and absolutely gorgeous (which is normal for Gem). All the little hiding holes, all those signs, especially the “nope” sign and the “really awkward that you’ve found this…”. Jimmy and Joel were the funniest to watch cause they were just getting frustrated. And Gem’s understanding of Jimmy and his build leading her to hide somewhere different worked out really well. And Joel getting lost and being led back to the start was hilarious. I know gem already has a lighthouse in HermitCraft with a secret area but if she redid this build on there it would be awesome. My only critique/suggestion would be to add some hiding spots into the building just to further waste their time. Have a couple really good hiding spots outside the building, but fill the building with spots. Some easy, and some convoluted to find.
